Chapter 18: Windfall
"Hey, I have other delicious food here, do you want to try it?"
"You peasant, how dare you call our master? Do you know who he is?"
When the servant heard that Wu Yuetang's tone was not respectful at all, he immediately scolded her, but was glared at by the fat man.
"What else do you want to eat?"
The fat boy looked at the little girl in front of him with scrutiny. Her clothes were tattered and full of patches, but upon closer inspection, she was quite clean. He asked again, "If you can't come up with something delicious, I'll leave."
Wu Yuetang smiled and took out a bag of kings from the backpack, which was actually from the space!
"Look, this is called ham sausage. It's really delicious, especially when you put one in with noodles. It's so delicious. You can eat it anytime, too."
The little fat boy looked at the strange packaging suspiciously. The transparent bag contained dozens of long and thin red-wrapped sticks, and he had no idea what they were.
"I'll open one and let you try it. If it doesn't taste good, you won't buy it."
As he spoke, Wu Yuetang swiftly tore open the package, took out a sausage, cut it open with his fingernails, peeled out the whole sausage and handed it to the fat boy.
The little fat boy took it and smelled it. It actually smelled like meat, and his eyes became sparkling again.
“Is this made of meat?”
"Mmm, it's made of meat and flour. It's delicious."
After hearing this, the little fat boy took it and stuffed it directly into his mouth. The soft and meaty taste immediately filled his entire mouth. Looking at the little fat boy's enjoying expression, Wu Yuetang knew that he was safe now.
"Delicious, delicious! How much is this bag of silver?"
"It's still twenty taels. This is all I have."
Wu Yuetang shook her index finger and said.
“Give me money!”
The little fat man was still eating sausage and gave orders to the servants in a concise manner.
As the servant took out the money, he looked at his master who was eating with grease in his mouth and enjoying the food, and couldn't help muttering in his heart.
What the hell is this? How could it be so delicious? And it cost a full forty taels! I guess I'll be scolded by the master and mistress again when I get home.
Two more large silver ingots were placed in Wu Yuetang's hands, and then the servant was about to take the little fat boy back home. Wu Yuetang was happily sorting out the four silver ingots he had just received, with a smile on his face.
"Oh, by the way, my family is in the restaurant business. The entire Ruyi Restaurant in Dayu belongs to me. If you have anything delicious in the future, you can come to Ruyi Restaurant to find me."
The little fat boy looked at the few snacks in his hand, thinking that if he wanted to eat again after eating, he would have to find this person, so he told Wu Yuetang how to find him.
After saying this, he walked back staggeringly with his servants.
Do you own a restaurant? Then you can go check it out when you get to the capital. It would be great if we could collaborate in the future.
Wu Yuetang looked for an embroidery workshop in the town and found one at the end of the main street. She then took the embroidery works of her two sisters-in-law and walked in.
"Shopkeeper, do you think you will accept these embroidery works?"
The middle-aged woman who was counting at the counter heard the voice and looked up at the person who came. It turned out to be a little girl. She looked her up and down and found that her clothes were all patched. She frowned.
"Show it to me."
Wu Yuetang handed over the embroidery, and the shopkeeper picked up one and looked at it carefully in his hand.
"The embroidery is good, but the pattern is too common. Ten cents a piece."
After the shopkeeper finished speaking, he put the embroidery back to its place and looked at the little girl in front of him.
"Shopkeeper, I have a few tricks here that I can guarantee are unique in Dayu. Would you like to take a look?"
When Wu Yuetang heard her say that the pattern was common, she tentatively asked if she could sell it by providing a picture of the pattern. Unexpectedly, the shopkeeper immediately became interested when he heard that it was unique.
"The only one? That would be great. Let me see it."
As he spoke, he walked out from behind the counter with a smile on his face that deepened.
"Do you have paper and pen? I'll draw it for you on the spot."
Hearing what Wu Yuetang said, the shopkeeper immediately called the servant to bring pen, ink, paper and inkstone.
Wu Yuetang found a clean table, spread out the paper, and started to paint. Wu Yuetang painted very quickly, and it could be said that he could paint as fast as he picked up the brush. He finished four paintings in just a cup of tea.
The shopkeeper was a little surprised when she looked at the four paintings in front of her. She had never realized that such a small girl like a gabby bean could be so good at painting.
"Girl, what kind of flowers are these?"
"This flower is called a dahlia. Its petals are pink, and the disk is large, making it very gorgeous when it blooms. The second one is a rose, which is mainly deep red, but there are also white and yellow roses. The flower has a strong fragrance, and the petals can be dried and used for bathing and medicine. The third one is called a fuchsia. The receptacle of this flower is bright red, and the petals near the stamen are white, hanging upside down, which is particularly beautiful. The fourth one is called amaryllis, which mainly has multiple petals with a gradient of pink and white, a very long stem, and a funnel-shaped flower."
After the introduction, the shopkeeper was stunned. He had never heard of these flowers, let alone seen them. A mere farm girl actually knew so much.
Wu Yuetang secretly said, "Oh no, it's over." Professional habits kicked in, and he habitually talked a little too much when introducing plants.
"Shopkeeper, do you accept these tricks?"
Wu Yuetang carefully reminded the stunned shopkeeper.
"Ah, take it, take it! I've never seen these patterns before. They are definitely unique to Dayu. These flowers are so beautiful. Even if they are embroidered and put in the capital, they will definitely sell well."
When the shopkeeper realized what was happening, he immediately spoke with joy and excitement, his mouth almost reaching his ears.
I was thinking that after moving south to the provincial capital, I would go directly to the shops there and ask all the embroiderers to embroider these patterns in large quantities. Then I would sell them for eighty coins each, or even a hundred coins each.
"Girl, I'll take these four patterns for one or two ounces of silver."
Hearing that he wanted to buy out the four blueprints for one tael of silver, Wu Yuetang shook his head and said, "One tael per blueprint."
"That's it, four pieces of silver each!"
The shopkeeper wanted the four paintings very much and started to bargain, but Wu Yuetang still shook his head.
"One tael per piece. Otherwise, I can sell it to the embroidery workshop in the city after I get there."
As Wu Yuetang spoke, she pretended to put away the four paintings. Seeing this, the shopkeeper immediately grabbed her hand.
"One tael each, I'll buy it! Together with the twelve handkerchiefs you brought, the total is four taels and one hundred and twenty wen!"
After saying that, he immediately walked behind the counter to withdraw money. Looking at the silver and money in his hand, Wu Yuetang smiled, took his things and left.
The shopkeeper treated the four drawings in the store like they were treasures and couldn't let them go.
Wu Yuetang walked back towards the village with a lighter step. When passing by a bun shop, she bought sixteen large meat buns and put them in her backpack.
I made forty-four taels of silver on this trip. It was really a big win. It was like making money out of nothing.
Wu Yuetang was very happy, but she couldn't help but worry about making delicious food for her family in the evening.
There are still small potatoes and sweet potatoes at home, and the lard seems to be running out. Forget it, let's go to the market.
