71 Huo Qubing teaches people

Huo Yan: There's actually someone who can keep up!!!

It was already past noon when Huo Yan and Huo Qubing left the Wei Mansion side by side. Huo Yan rummaged around in the wall of the carriage and finally grabbed a piece of snack and gave it to Huo Qubing.

Huo Qubing's complexion was still not very good, and his face was gloomy, but he finally accepted the snack.

"It's just a word, why are you so angry, brother?"

Huo Yan ate happily, squinted his eyes, and gave Huo Qubing another piece.

Seeing his heartless expression, Huo Qubing subconsciously frowned. Although he didn't say much, his displeasure was evident. Huo Yan tilted his head to meet his expression, his brows curved.

"Brother." His face was filled with pure confusion. "If you're so angry over a single sentence, then there's no need for us to go out. You're acting strangely today."

Even a son of a humble family, like Zhang Tang, who managed to gain a foothold in the imperial court would still be branded a cruel official, let alone these two. Ever since they gained some influence with Emperor Wu of Han, the established aristocratic families and the sons of high-ranking officials had been gossiping about their origins. After Huo Qubing advocated for Li Guang's death, they were even more eager to stab them in the back, calling them the sons of slaves, the clinging to the powerful, and the illegitimate children.

Judging from his brother's personality, let alone caring, if he heard other people chirping crickets, he would probably turn a blind eye and then turn around and proudly tell him and his uncle that these people were jealous of me because I had the emperor's favor.

So Huo Yan was puzzled as to why his brother was so upset about a sentence that he didn't care about.

Chang'an Street was bustling with activity after noon, with cars rolling and dust rising.

Huo Qubing sat upright, his eyes blazing. He spoke slowly to Huo Yan, "You'll be alone in Chang'an for a long time. You'll be in the central government, and you belong to the Wei Mansion. No matter how powerful you are, he'll always borrow your influence. He's too greedy and has a bad character, and I don't want the Wei family in Chang'an to cause you trouble while I'm away."

If Gongsun Jingsheng is not set straight, he will one day cause great trouble, and then Ah Yan will be in great trouble in the court. Moreover, he looks down on Ah Yan, is disrespectful to Ah Yan, is ungrateful, and remembers grudges instead of kindness, so he deserves a lecture.

Almost as soon as they met, he predicted Gongsun Jingsheng's fate completely. Huo Yan suddenly felt a headache. Wisdom is bound to cause harm, and beautiful things do not last forever. If his brother is not imprisoned, who will be imprisoned?

"If you give a piece of your crystal-clear mind to Ju'er and the others, everyone will be happy. Can't you be a little more dull?"

Huo Qubing didn't listen to his complaints. Why should he hide his intelligence? He was smart enough to treat others as fools.

"When I have some free time, I'll go and get Gongsun Jingsheng out for a lecture. You can go have fun by yourself!"

Huo Yan rolled his eyes. "You don't need a butcher knife to kill a chicken. You don't need to use it. He's just a scare. Just watch me."

He is not stupid, so why would he keep an ungrateful person around?

Huo Qubing folded his hands and snorted.

"Then you go first."

Huo Yan covered his forehead, his eyes moving around, and suddenly he had a good idea. He leaned over and whispered it to Huo Qubing.

[Then you come first, and I will definitely take action.]

[Even with Qubing like this, my Ah Yan is still quite straight. It's incredible.]

[Hehehe, our Majesty Ah Yan is a good person. He said scaring people means cutting off their hands.]

[I can't hear you, what's there to hide?]

[Hmph, you're being so rude.]

Gongsun Jingsheng has been in bad luck recently. People from the casino have been coming to his door every day since the end of the month, saying that the money given by Huo Yan has been used to pay off the debt. They just stand in front of the door and call a large group of people to ask him to pay back the money he owes plus interest. If he doesn't pay, they will chop off his hands.

Wei Junru was so angry that she was bedridden after the last incident. For the sake of his wife, Gongsun He wanted to kick these troublemakers out with a cold face.

Gongsun He acted like an official, but he completely underestimated the profit-seeking bastards in Huo Yan's casino.

Last year, Huo Qubing officially entered the Imperial Guards to train orphans. Most of these troublemakers were fifteen or sixteen years old, and they were among the Imperial Guards who followed Huo Qubing around daily. They were a group of mischievous men who, relying on their steeds to swiftly scour the land, would whip corrupt officials, apprehend thieves and bandits, and even occasionally practiced horseback assaults on officials. Another group of Chang'an dandies were the younger brothers or sons of the imperial attendants and palace officials who had close ties with Huo Yan. Each of them was a warmongerer with exceptional martial prowess, but because they were underage and uninformed, Huo Yan tricked them into working as thugs in casinos with promises of good food and entertainment.

Whenever they weren't on duty or training, they would rush around collecting debts like wild horses. They had been relatively restrained, even a little nervous around high-ranking officials. Huo Yan went to Emperor Wu of Han to plead his case, saying they were fighting for their country and were thus collecting bribes from people who offended them. He requested that Emperor Wu of Han grant them badges to forbid them from being bullied. Emperor Wu of Han looked at the money they had collected and, with a wave of his hand, granted them all badges.

From then on, every street in Chang'an City would ask who the father was.

The fact that they were all sent out showed that Huo Yan was determined to use force to straighten Gongsun Jingsheng out. If Gongsun He managed to scare people, Huo Yan would have no chance of staying in Chang'an anymore and would have to return to his brother's arms and be a little bastard.

Gongsun He's face looked really ugly, but the Yulin Langs were more restrained. After all, they were quite familiar with Gongsun He, the Marquis of Nanhuan, who was familiar with Wei Qing.

But Huo Yanzhen sent a group of young men in front of them who were dressed in colorful clothes. These Chang'an dandies were not frightened at all, and most of them burst out laughing.

It's wishful thinking to show off your power in front of them. They all have good ancestors, good fathers, and good brothers. It's wishful thinking to think of scaring them.

"Your Excellency cannot take advantage of your position and refuse to pay back the money. Our gambling house is a small business and we have to feed these people. If it goes bankrupt, where will we eat? Your Excellency, please be kind and return the money, and we will not bother you anymore."

Gongsun He recognized at a glance that he was Sang Hongyang's eldest son, Sang Qian.

Sang Qian looked straight at Gongsun He with a neutral smile.

Given his half-brother relationship with his brother Xiao Huo, if he didn't do this, he would be unworthy of the bag of goldfish that his brother Xiao Huo gave him every year.

All the young men burst into laughter, hoping that the prince would be kind enough to do them a favor.

Gongsun He himself used to be a dandy young man following Liu Che, and he knew that they were difficult to deal with. He glared at Gongsun Jingsheng who was hiding behind him. Gongsun Jingsheng had been spoiled since childhood and was very lawless, but at this moment he was like being hit by frost. These people came up and wanted to chop off his hands, and he was really scared. He pulled Gongsun He's sleeve tightly, fearing that his father-in-law would push him out.

"Aung, I only owe 500 gold. They are miscalculating the amount."

Gongsun He was furious, but thinking of his frail wife, he patiently asked Sang Qian, "I wonder how much this unfilial son of mine owes me? I'll pay it right away."

Sang Qian winked at the people behind him, and a young boy, about twelve years old, immediately brushed aside the other teenagers who were surrounding him and reported the bill with a bright smile. Although he was a bit shorter, he was very knowledgeable when talking about the interest and other things.

"My Lord, according to our gambling house rules, interest accumulates monthly. The young master hasn't paid back the money for a long time, and now the interest has grown to 100,000 taels of gold. Since Minister Huo helped him with some of the money last time, your Lordship only needs to pay 80,000 taels."

The young boy reported his account crisply, his eyes bright and a confident smile on his lips. He was very sure of his account. Gongsun He had never seen this boy before, but he knew from his demeanor that he was noble. At this point, he secretly resented that if other gambling houses could be wiped out, this one was under the protection of the emperor. Even the son of Tian Fen dared to deduct money at will, let alone his own son!

If His Majesty knew about this, I would be abandoned by His Majesty!

Thinking of this, his face instantly turned ashen, his body swayed, and he almost lost his balance. Looking at Gongsun Jingsheng behind him, his eyes widened, filled with anger and disappointment, and his voice trembled slightly with extreme anger. "You...you actually owe such a huge gambling debt?"

Gongsun Jingsheng was so frightened that his face turned pale as paper. He fell to his knees with a plop, crying, "Aunt, I... I was just having fun for a moment. I don't owe you that much. They are just making a fuss..."

Every time he lost all his money, he wanted to play a few more times, but he didn't expect to owe so much.

Gongsun He felt his vision go dark. This was no small sum. Even as the Imperial Household, his salary was not low, but it would be difficult to come up with it in a short time. He gritted his teeth, suppressed his anger, and said, "Eighty thousand taels of gold? That's too high an interest rate! How are you any different from those who lend money?"

Seeing this, Sang Qian immediately took out the account book from his pocket.

"Lord, our gambling house is the most famous in Chang'an. We won't ask for money without authorization. Every account is available. You can just check it."

The child raised his chin slightly, crossed his arms, and said with a hint of sarcasm, "Your Excellency, what you said is not right. The rule in this casino is that you must accept the loss if you gamble. When you were full of energy at the gambling table, you never said the interest rate was high. Now that you have lost money, you are insulting us for lending money?"

The young men burst into laughter again. This was a gambling house, so it was normal for them to give out money.

Gongsun Jingsheng hid behind his father, trembling with fear, and muttered softly, "Aunt, I... I really didn't know I would owe so much, I..."

Gongsun He turned around and glared at him fiercely, scolding, "Shut up! You rebellious son!"

Sang Qian sneered, "Lord, you must return the money as soon as possible. Our gambling house may be small, but the owner behind it is not to be trifled with. If you don't return it, and this matter gets out, it will be bad for your reputation."

After saying this, he glanced around intentionally or unintentionally, and those playboys immediately agreed. For a moment, there was a lot of urging voices coming one after another.

Gongsun He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. He knew that these people had the emperor behind them, and he was afraid that he would have to pay the money back today. But even if he sold 80,000 taels of gold, it would not be enough.

Both sides became anxious.

At this moment, Wei Junru, supported by her maid, staggered out. Her face was pale, her eyes filled with worry and anxiety. Seeing the scene at the door, she couldn't help but slump to the ground, crying out to Gongsun Jingsheng, "This is a sin! What sin have I committed to give birth to such an evil creature like you!"

Gongsun Jingsheng let her push him and shoved him, shrinking his neck.

When Sang Qian and others saw Wei Junru coming out, they calmed down a little. After all, Wei Junru was a member of the Wei family. The child immediately went back into the group of teenagers and was stopped by them again.

Wei Junru lay on Gongsun He's body, crying until her voice was hoarse. She covered her heart, and it was obvious that she was in extreme pain.

Being a mother is not easy, so these young people stopped forcing it and looked at each other in silence.

Just then, a magnificent carriage slowly approached and stopped at the entrance of the Gongsun Mansion. The door opened, and a graceful and elegant woman emerged. It was none other than Wei Shao'er. The commotion at the Gongsun Mansion was so intense that she had heard about it even at the Chen Mansion. Worried about her sister, Wei Junru, she came to investigate in person.

When Wei Junru saw her, he couldn't help crying again.

"Young man, I have committed a sin."

Wei Shaoer held her hand and wiped her face with a towel, but his eyes were looking at Mo Sunhe, "How much is it? Maybe we can pool our money together and it will be enough."

Gongsun He felt exhausted. He said with difficulty, "Eighty thousand taels!"

After he finished speaking, he bowed to Wei Shao'er and said, "This time, thanks to Ah Yan and Qu Bing for giving me the additional 20,000 taels, I would like to thank you very much, Ah Mei."

Wei Shao'er was startled. She repeated loudly, "How much? Twenty thousand taels! My Ah Yan usually has the most money, and now he has given it all! Then everyone else has no money, so we can't make up the money. Sister, I'll go ask Qing'er for you."

Wei Junru waved her hand. She turned her head and looked at the young men. Suddenly, she said, "We can't raise the money. You can take him away. Everyone has their own responsibility. You can kill him or cut him up as you wish."

Everyone was shocked.

Wei Junru loves her son the most!

Gongsun Jingsheng fell to his knees and cried out at the top of his lungs, "Mother, I was wrong, I was really wrong, please save me..."

Wei Shao'er was also very frightened. "They even dared to chop off Prime Minister Tian's son. Sister, Jingsheng is still young."

Wei Junru's face was filled with tears, and her voice was full of determination: "He is not a child anymore. He should bear the consequences for making such a mistake. I doted on him so much in the past, which is why he is so lawless today. Now I have to teach him a lesson so that he will know that he can't do whatever he wants in this world!"

As she spoke, she pushed Gongsun Jingsheng forward.

Gongsun Jingsheng's eyes widened in horror, and he used his hands and feet to shrink back, his cries becoming more and more shrill, "Mother, please don't! I really won't dare to do this again, never again!"

He hugged Wei Junru's legs tightly, his nails almost digging into her skirt.

The young men looked at each other in bewilderment. They had originally expected a scramble, but they hadn't expected Wei Junru to resort to such a tactic. They felt a little sorry for him. The child sneaked up to Sang Qian, frowned, and asked in a low voice, "Are we really going to take him away?"

Sang Qian hadn't expected to get what he wanted so quickly. "Madam, this matter isn't completely hopeless. Although we've been ordered to collect the debt, we don't want to actually kill anyone. Furthermore, your Excellency and my father-in-law serve in the same court."

"I think this is the way," he paused, "We'll have Young Master Gongsun come with us first. You guys gather the money first, and we'll ask the master's family to let him do some odd jobs first."

Wei Junru and Gongsun He exchanged a look of hesitation. Gongsun Jingsheng, upon hearing this, quickly got up and grabbed his father's sleeve, "Grandfather, Mother, I'm willing to go to work. I'll do my best. Please save me."

Gongsun He sighed and looked at Wei Junru, "Madam, things have come to this point. Perhaps this is the only way."

Wei Junru bit her lip, tears welled up in her eyes, but she finally nodded.

So, Gongsun He signed a document to sell himself on the spot, and under the gaze of everyone, he followed Sang Qian and others out of Gongsun Mansion.

Wei Shao'er supported Wei Junru and comforted her, "Sister, since they are willing to give Jingsheng a chance, maybe he can really turn over a new leaf."

Wei Junru looked at the direction where her son left and burst into tears, "I hope so. I just hope he can be safe and sensible..."

In the gambling house.

Huo Yan played his new chess game with Huo Qubing with a smile on his face, and then the smile gradually disappeared.

"No more. Qian'er and the others are coming back."

He threw the dice on the table.

Huo Qubing checked his position without hesitation and rearranged the chess pieces.

"It's no big deal, just keep playing."

He was passionate about Liubo, but it was clear that he now preferred chess. Liubo's complex planning was like a chariot bound to a set course, lacking in agility and variety. Chess, on the other hand, was more like a war on paper, allowing him to freely unleash his military strategy, unlike Liubo, which was always confined to a fixed framework.

The "chariot" moves freely, the "horse" makes roundabout moves, and the "cannon" hits the target from a distance. Every step is like commanding a battle, and different types of troops cooperate with each other on the small chessboard.

"If Liubo is just an ordinary drill, then Xiangqi is a true battlefield showdown." Huo Qubing's eyes sparkled as he enthusiastically praised Huo Yan, "Your move is fun. I'll let you go first."

Huo Yanba pulled the pawn on the chessboard and rolled his eyes.

"I'm telling you to give me some time, but you don't always let me go first. Even if I go ten steps first, I still lose. I'm really embarrassed by you doing this, brother."

Huo Qubing's eyes flashed with cunning. He moved the chessboard away and said, "Then you practice some more. I'll go find my uncle and my uncle."

Huo Yan was helpless, "You originally said you cared about this matter."

Huo Qubing put away the chessboard, went out, and closed the door in one go, leaving Huo Yan with a dashing back view.

He said that A Yan would come first and he would train after A Yan had finished training.

[Hahaha, I was abandoned.]

Huo Yan lowered his eyes and asked them something.

Huo Yan: Lei Bei also went to the battlefield recently and is still alive. Can he teach me swordsmanship?

[Son, if you want to learn swordsmanship, why not learn from your uncle and brother?]

[Yes, that Lei has a history of stabbing people.]

Huo Yan: It doesn’t matter, as long as he has free time.

[That's not right. You've learned this before. It's not as good as curing diseases, but it's still useful.]

[You are going to the battlefield!]

[Then stop dreaming. You’ll get sick if you can’t keep up.]

Huo Yan laughed sinisterly, making the commenters speechless. Then he said slowly, "That makes sense."

Just kidding, very happy.

[Psychopath, scared me!]

[Then why are you learning sword?!]

Huo Yan unfolded his copy of "Three Years as Emperor, Five Years as Simulator" and smiled coldly, "I think Juer has to be able to cut white and black. He can be elegant in front of Confucian scholars, but in front of the military, he has to be strong enough to kill people with a single sword strike, without giving them the strength to fight back."

Comments from the audience: What you said makes some sense.

Then everyone saw Huo Yan's book, "The Emperor," which combines the essence of thick black theory, Han Feizi, and The Prince's Theory, and teaches you how to be a crown prince. The first line of the book is, "Whether you do it or not is not important. What is important is to express your attitude to the king."

Huo Yan's slender fingers gently stroked the pages of the book, and a meaningful arc appeared at the corner of his mouth. The smile was deep and cunning, which was inconsistent with his age.

"It's not the same as hiding one's edge. It's always good for him to learn a little. When he's really at his wit's end, no one can get close to him, and he can live longer." He raised his head and looked at the empty surroundings, as if the barrage of comments had taken on a physical form. "If things really go badly, and we're all dead, he'll commit suicide faster. If he's reincarnated sooner, he won't meet his father. I'll ask Mother to leave him a place as a younger brother."

The barrage of comments instantly exploded.

[Thank you on behalf of my son.]

[This is a hell of a joke!]

[But thinking about it, I do need to be a little more skilled. It won't hurt as much if I do it faster.]

[I thank you on behalf of Juer as well.]

[Can Lei Bei really teach Liu Ju well? Ban Gu, in the Book of Han, consistently describes Liu Ju as kind, forgiving, gentle, and cautious. Too gentle, how can one truly learn from him?]

Huo Yan seemed to have heard their doubts and snorted softly, "Whatever, let's teach him first! That child has chosen me, but I know my brother's level, don't I? If I let you teach him, the child will be doomed!"

Comments from the audience: That’s right, if Qubing teaches his children in the same way he taught you, it’s really over.

Huo Qubing, whose chess pieces had been confiscated by Emperor Wu of Han and who had been banished to the Pepper Room to teach Liu Ju swordsmanship, sneezed. He rubbed his nose and received the concerned stares of three little heads.

The age difference between Empress Wei's four children and Huo Qubing and Huo Yan is very interesting. Huo Qubing is three years older than Princess Wei Chang, and Princess Wei Chang is three years older than Princess Yangshi. There is also a three-year age difference between Princess Yangshi and Princess Zhuyi, and between Princess Zhuyi and Liu Ju.

The eldest daughter, the captain of the guards, was not there, leaving only Yang Shi and Zhu Yi hiding beside the garden to watch their younger brother practicing sword and enjoy the fun.

Huo Qubing held his sword expressionlessly. Due to the twelve-year age difference, he and Liu Ju didn't have much to say. He was always direct in his actions. After he told Liu Ju that His Majesty wanted him to teach him sword, he immediately started teaching him the basic moves. He didn't even ask Liu Ju why he was so persistent in teaching him sword skills, and quickly showed him his sword-drawing posture.

Then he continued to watch Liu Ju's frantic gestures with an expressionless face.

Princess Yangshi and Princess Zhuyi③ saw Liu Ju's flustered movements and couldn't help feeling a little worried. Cousin Ayan was not here today, and brother Qubing usually didn't like to pay attention to them. Cousin Qubing wouldn't beat his younger brother, would he?

Huo Qubing was staring at by two people with eager eyes, and thought that they also wanted to learn, so he broke off two branches and handed them to Yang Shi and Zhu Yi.

"You come too."

Princess Yangshi was extremely shy but did not dare to refuse. When she saw Zhuyi next to her was already dancing vigorously, she could not help but become worried again.

"Brother Qubing, I will take my sister away now."

As he said this, he was about to drag Zhuyi, who was having fun, away.

Huo Qubing stopped him, "It's okay, if she likes it, she can stay."

He paused, "If you like, you can stay."

He remembered what Ah Yan had said when he was teaching the guard how to use an abacus and when he brought the new paper to Yang Shi, and he added, "It's never bad to learn more. Sometimes what you learn now will be your chance to turn things around in the future."

Yang Shi didn't quite understand, but she obediently made her sword moves.

Liu Ju was even happier when he saw his sisters accompanying him. He himself had not learned it yet and had to remind Zhuyi to raise his hands.

A smile flashed in Huo Qubing's eyes, and he performed it again under the gaze of the three little ones. After finishing, he described it again in a concise and clear manner. He himself was a genius in martial arts, and when teaching others, he could not help but judge others by his own standards. As a result, the three little ones could hardly understand what he said. The moves that he thought were not too difficult were completely impossible for Liu Ju and Yang Shi to do.

Only the always lively Zhu Yi tried it out. Although there were still some inaccuracies, it was definitely better than Huo Yan, whom Huo Qubing had taught before. The key was that Zhu Yi was willing to use his strength, which was better than Huo Yan's soft sword that always wanted to be lazy.

Huo Qubing's eyes suddenly lit up.

"good."

He finally felt some joy in teaching others. No wonder Ah Yan always liked to teach the captain how to use an abacus. His sister was just smart.

Zhu Yi's face flushed red immediately after receiving praise from her cousin who was usually silent. Liu Ju and Yang Shi imitated Huo Yan's usual behavior and clapped Zhu Yi vigorously.

Zhu Yi's face turned even redder.

"I will study hard."

She promised loudly.

Huo Qubing laughed.

The three little ones had never seen him smile before, so when they saw him smile, they immediately started to smile foolishly too.

Brother Qubing laughed.

Although Liu Ju was small, he still blinked hard at Yang Shi.

Yang Shi also blinked.

Brother Qubing looks so good when he smiles, just as good-looking as the lip balm that Brother Ayan asked her to help mix.

【Author’s words】

Zhuyi has good talent, but not as outrageous as Qubing. The main reason is that we Qubing have never seen a good student who is both well-behaved and smart.

He thought that all the students were as indifferent as Ah Yan.

But I speak up for Juer, and it's normal that I can't keep up with his teaching method.

Go home at night.

Ah Yan: Brother, I will ask my uncle to replace the quilt tomorrow. [狗头]

Qubing: My sister is doing well. I will continue to teach her. [Sunglasses]

Ah Yan: What? Which girl among us can keep up with you? [Eating melon]

Qubing: Zhuyi is very good. [Sunglasses]

Ah Yan: Then he goes to the kids' table. What do you think? [Smirk]

To cure disease: Whatever. [Sunglasses]

Ah Yan: Ruer will be unhappy. [Smirk] (Turning head) Yangshi baby, come here, new drawing paper, Weichang baby, new little abacus and poison needle. [Kiss][Shy][Come on]

Jier: Is there no one speaking up for me? [Breaking down crying]

Gongsun Jingsheng: My hands are almost being chopped off, and there’s also the loan shark who lent me money without my knowledge. Did I say anything? [Clown]

Ah Yan: You are not important. Come, Juer baby, take this book. [狗头][加油]

According to Er: How to be a prince who can survive, thank you so much, cousin Yan, it is just right for me. [Kiss][Starry eyes][Sprinkle flowers]

Ah Yan: Practice your sword skills well, so that you can kill yourself when you can't beat your father. [Sunglasses]

Juer: I take back that thank you. [bursts into tears][holds cheek][splits open]

Ah Yan: I am replenishing my brother's body, and you practice sword fighting to poke your father after he got sick. Perfect, both before and after. [Sunglasses][Cat head]

Juer: ..., that makes sense. [laughing and crying][melted][cracked]

Pig: You sit at home, and there's an assassin right next to you. [rolls eyes]

Qubing: Ah Yan, stop giving me advice. I'm drinking soup. [Milk tea]

Ah Yan: Okay, brother. [covering face and peeking][let me see][kiss][loppy ears and rabbit head][heart eyes]

This New Year’s Eve must be written sweetly, definitely.

You can click on the meme.

The previous chapter suggested pairing it with "Riding a Crane to the West", which is very sharp.

Especially the part about not blaming you in this life.

I'm dying. I've been writing for three days and I still haven't recovered.

Abusive writing is harmful to your health.

Ban Gu's "Book of Han" repeatedly portrays Liu Ju as a benevolent, forgiving, gentle, and cautious person. For example, after the crown prince reached adulthood, Emperor Wu of Han felt that his character was unlike his own. However, when handling government affairs, Liu Ju often exercised leniency in cases where harsh laws were appropriate, demonstrating a different approach from Emperor Wu's harsh approach and a more lenient side.

During the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, usury was generally referred to as "zi qian," and loan sharks were known as "zi qian jia." The "zi qian" phenomenon was widespread in the socioeconomic landscape of the time, especially in commercially prosperous cities like Chang'an. For example, nobles, wealthy merchants, and ordinary citizens might seek loans from "zi qian jia" when faced with financial difficulties, such as weddings, funerals, or business ventures. The "zi qian jia" is mentioned in "Records of the Grand Historian: Biographies of Merchants." During the Wu-Chu Rebellion, when the marquises and lords of Chang'an needed to join the army and borrow funds, "zi qian jia" became involved.

③ Regarding the titles of the princesses, Yan Shigu's "Book of Han" (Book of Han) in the early Tang Dynasty, Volume 6, "Chronicle of Emperor Wu," records that, in addition to Princess Wei Chang, who is more commonly recorded in historical documents, Wei Zifu's other two daughters were known as Princess Zhuyi and Princess Yangshi. Their order of birth is unknown. However, Sima Zhen, in "Shiji Suoyin," claims that Princess Zhuyi and Princess Shiyi were Empress Wei's other two daughters. These conflicting records regarding the two daughters leave controversy regarding their identities.

The one used here is Yan Shigu's.
