Chapter 3 Cang Li pondered for a while, but didn't...

Cang Li thought for a while but couldn't figure it out. Once his head was no longer dizzy, he stood up and walked outside. The rain had stopped, and the water on the ground was still quite deep, but he could see the surrounding environment of the cave clearly.

Wilderness. Cang Li’s first impression was wilderness. The terrain outside the cave was flat, overgrown with weeds, with a few scattered trees. Opposite was a mountain with a strange shape, which Cang Li couldn’t quite put his finger on.

Looking back, the cave behind her was also at the foot of a mountain. This mountain was quite standard-shaped, a very standard peak, lush and green, with the scent of a forest after the rain. In modern terms, it had a high oxygen content, making it a good location for a resort.

Between the two mountains lies a large flat area, unconnected at both ends, with two spacious exits. From these exits, all you can see are the outlines of mountains and the shadows of forests. There is not a trace of modernity in sight, let alone skyscrapers. There are no power lines or signal towers, not even in the infrastructure powerhouse's territory.

Very well, it's confirmed again. This is not only not modern, it's not even a civilized society. No wonder the little ones behind us are dressed like cavemen; they really are cavemen.

Cang Li thought to himself expressionlessly.

When people get angry to a certain point, they become speechless. Cang Li was like that; she had no strength left to speak. With such a disastrous start, it would be a miracle if she could survive for even a few days.

Cang Li squatted at the door for a long time, thinking. Then she looked down at her half-naked body. She felt even more helpless than when she was being chased by debt collectors. Others who transmigrated into high society had cheat codes, but she only had a tattered grass skirt.

"Ding~ Your resource exchanger is now online."

Cang Li looked up instantly and saw the semi-transparent light screen in front of her that moved with her gaze.

The screen has only three simple sections: a collection and storage section, an exchange shop, and a backpack. There is also a collection point display in the upper right corner, which currently shows ten collection points.

Cang Li tried calling out, "System?"

The system did not exist, and there was no sound response from Cang Li. Cang Li reached out and tapped the data collection and storage section. The section expanded to occupy the entire screen, containing a total of twelve small square cells. Clicking on the small question mark in the upper left corner revealed the user manual.

"The Collection Exchange System allows holders to collect plants and animals for income. The system will automatically calculate the value of the items, and the corresponding collection points will be issued to the system wallet after the acquisition. Collection points can be used to exchange for items in the adjacent mall. This system is very mature and does not require upgrading. You only need to accumulate collection points to unlock mall items. When all items in the mall have been exchanged, this system will automatically disconnect."

Cang Li exited the gathering and storage point and opened the adjacent shop. The shop has only unlocked the first page so far. The items include matches (two boxes per gathering point), steamed buns (two per gathering point), purified water, and hoes, sickles, and axes (limited to one per purchase).

Of these items, only the first three are somewhat useful to Cang Li at the moment, and the exchange device even thoughtfully provides ten gathering points.

Cang Li directly exchanged two boxes of matches, six steamed buns, and a bottle of purified water. The bottle of purified water was also one collection point. After the exchange, the collector indicated that the items were automatically sent to his backpack. He had five collection points left, which would last him for two more days.

The contents of the backpack appeared at Cang Li's feet after she touched them. There were ten liters of purified water in a large, open earthenware jar. Cang Li put the contents back into the backpack, then turned and went back into the cave. It looked like it was still early after the rain stopped. Although she had matches, there was no firewood in the cave. She would have to send a few of the kids to collect some later. She didn't keep idle people around.

Once inside the cave, Cang Li found a corner to drain the purified water and lean it against the wall. Luckily, the earthenware jar had a lid, otherwise she would have had to find something to cover it.

There were also six large steamed buns. The buns given by the collector were quite substantial, each the size of her palm, and she could eat her fill from just one.

Cang Li carried the steamed buns and went to check on the youngest child. He still had a fever, but it was better than before. It seemed that the primitive man had good physical fitness.

Then wake up the other four kids.

"Hey! Wake up, wake up!"

The eldest son rubbed his eyes and got up, looking at his eldest sister blankly. He then noticed that his older sister had woken up his second, third, and fourth younger sisters, which seemed a bit strange.

The four kids together look like Cang Li.

Cang Li's expression was terrible, and his mood was awful. He stuck out his index finger and poked the four kids on the forehead, scolding them:

"I don't support idlers! After you've eaten, go out and gather some firewood!"

Big Cub: ?

What are you saying? I don't understand.

Cang Li's mood worsened, and she silently took a bite of her steamed bun.

Eldest cub, second cub, third cub, fourth cub: !!!

What smells so good!

The two cubs kept glancing at Cang Li's hand, and their swallowing was quite obvious.

The three and four little ones, being so young, couldn't help but drool, unable to look away.

Seeing the four kids' drooling looks, Cang Li felt inexplicably pleased and waved the steamed bun in his hand: "Want some?"

After saying that, he realized that the kids wouldn't understand, so he made a gesture of eating.

The two children understood and nodded immediately. Cang Li took out a steamed bun and gave one to each of them. Then he picked up a dry twig and pointed outside, gesturing:

"Collect firewood after you finish eating! Don't take the water!"

The eldest cub restrained himself, while the third and fourth cubs didn't even look at what Cang Li was gesturing and buried themselves in their food. They had never eaten such delicious and fragrant food before!

The eldest son looked at what his older sister was holding, then followed Cang Li's hand to look outside. After thinking for a while, he nodded seriously, indicating that he understood.

Cang Li was satisfied. He took a big bite of the steamed bun and gestured for the two kids to eat quickly and stop dawdling.

The two cubs finally started wolfing down their food, their eyes sparkling as they ate, looking at Cang Li with great surprise.

Cang Li's terrible mood, which had been terrible since she regained consciousness, finally improved a little. She slowly exhaled and thought, "As the saying goes, since I'm already here, I've already survived the days when my adoptive father ran away and left me with a million-dollar debt. I was almost driven to death by debt collectors. Now it's just like we've entered the primitive society. It's better to live a miserable life than to die."

Cang Li, letting out a sigh of frustration, saw that Si Zai's belly was already bulging but he still wouldn't let go of the steamed bun, and his mood immediately soured. He snatched the steamed bun away and scolded:

"Keep eating! Your stomach's going to burst if you keep going!"

Si Zai was stunned, looking pitifully at Cang Li. She had never eaten anything so delicious before. Her stomach... her stomach didn't hurt. Was her older sister not full? So Si Zai thought for a moment, reached out and pushed the half-eaten steamed bun left in Cang Li's hand, then pointed to her mouth, indicating that Cang Li should eat.

Cang Li stopped, put the steamed bun back into the paper bag, and said fiercely, "You can eat it when you're hungry!"

The little one was chewing on his fingers and tilting his head, while the eldest sister was babbling on and on. But his tummy doesn't hurt anymore, hehe~

The third child, being very perceptive, saw his eldest sister snatching food from his fourth sister and immediately offered the remaining half of his steamed bun to his eldest sister.

Cang Li patted the three children's bellies and took the steamed buns without any hesitation. Children don't know how to control themselves, and if they get sick from eating too much, there are no doctors here. Besides, food is scarce, so save them for the next meal.

The two boys looked at the steamed buns and then at Cang Li. They weren't full yet, but they still handed the remaining half of the steamed buns to Cang Li. The eldest sister used to be silly and would give them food, but now she seemed to be smarter, and they wanted to give her food too.

Cang Li touched the bellies of the two children, clearly noticing they weren't full. Disgusted, he pushed the steamed buns back, saying fiercely:

"Eat! Eat your fill and then get to work!"

The two children suspiciously stuffed the steamed buns back into their mouths. Seeing that Cang Li had stopped making noises, they continued to eat heartily. After finishing, the two patted their bellies and were very happy. This white thing tasted better than fruit and water!

After eating his fill, Da Zai quickly got up, picked up a branch, looked at it, and then tugged at Cang Li's hand, his expression clearly conveying: "Want this?"

Cang Li nodded: "Yes, pick up more! Don't go too far!" What if a wild animal snatches it if you go too far?

The eldest cub happily led the second cub out of the cave. The third and fourth cubs looked at Cang Li, then at the eldest and second cubs, and then followed them out.

Cang Li glanced at the cave entrance and saw the four cubs picking up branches in a dry spot next to the cave. He turned back, picked up the cub, frowned, squeezed it to wake it up, and tore off a small piece of steamed bun the size of a fingernail and stuffed it into the cub's mouth. Logically speaking, a child this age should drink formula, or at least eat rice porridge or soft noodles if there is no formula.

But there was nothing here but steamed buns. If they didn't eat, they would die, so Cang Li could only tear the steamed buns into small pieces to feed the children.

The little one seemed to have tasted it, and a small piece of steamed bun was quickly eaten clean by a few tiny teeth. Seeing that the little one was accepting it well, Cang Li continued to feed him. The child still had a slight fever, and she was helpless without medicine. The exchange shop had not been unlocked, and there were no related medicines on the first page.

Cang Li fed the cub, thinking that if he really couldn't survive, at least he could die with a full stomach.

The little cub had quite a big appetite. He was fed half a steamed bun before refusing to eat the rest. Cang Li put the rest on the lid of the earthenware jar, went out to find a leaf, washed it clean, poured some water from the jar, drank it himself, and then fed some to the little cub.

The light outside gradually dimmed. Cang Li went out for a look and saw a pile of dry branches at the entrance of the cave, about half her height. However, because of the rain, they were all wet and unusable for the time being. So Cang Li simply called the few children not far away back.

Upon hearing Cang Li's voice, the eldest child led the second, third, and fourth children back, each carrying many withered branches, and all stared at Cang Li.

When Cang Li saw a full moon appear over the mountains, he led the cubs into the cave, scooped up some water with leaves and fed it to them. He had originally wanted to wash the dirty cubs, but he didn't have the means to do so at the moment.

Lying on the haystack at night, Cang Li didn't sleep very well. She could faintly hear the roars of beasts coming from the other side of the mountain. The cave had no cover, and Cang Li was a little worried that wild animals might break in.

The next day, at the crack of dawn, Cang Li opened his eyes, reached out to check the baby's temperature, and found that it was normal. Cang Li breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that the child was lucky and wouldn't die.
