Chapter 84 Reaching the foot of Buzhou Mountain, Li Cai…

Upon reaching the foot of Mount Buzhou, Li Cai turned back and said:

"Go to my tribe first. The Ancestral Witch is not someone we can easily meet. Moreover, I am a member of the Tianwu Ancestral Witch's group. I cannot go to the Houtu Ancestral Witch's place without a reason. Let me inquire with a familiar high shaman and ask another high shaman to help you convey the message to the Houtu Ancestral Witch."

Cang Li expressed her understanding; one cannot overstep authority by crossing regional boundaries, she knew that.

Seeing that Cang Li was cooperating, Li breathed a sigh of relief. If Cang Li hadn't cooperated and insisted on seeing Houtu Ancestral Witch now, Cang Li might have been fine, but Li would definitely have been punished by his own Ancestral Witch.

When Li returned to his tribe, the shamans there were very surprised. They thought that the great shaman had encountered some accident and would not be able to return.

"Great Shaman! You're back!"

Li nodded, pointing to Cang Li and Nini behind him, and said:

"These two are distinguished guests from the human race. Please arrange a place for them to stay and do not be rude."

The tribe's shaman looked at Cangli and Nini with curiosity. They had never seen humans before, but since their high shaman valued them so much, they must be a very powerful race.

Cangli and Nini were placed in the best animal skin tent in the Li tribe.

The tribe has shamans of all ages and genders, and most people are curious about the two women, so they come over to take a look from time to time.

Nini sat in the tent. It was her first time traveling so far from home, so she was inevitably a little uncomfortable.

Cang Li was looking around at the houses of the Wu tribe; it was her first time visiting the Wu tribe's village.

Upon arrival, they discovered that the ordinary shamans seemed to live much the same way as their human race did at the beginning. However, the shamans had existed on this land for tens of thousands of years, and their living environment had not changed at all. The ordinary shamans here all had a pale complexion that suggested they had been starving for a long time.

Those strong shamans probably had the responsibility of protecting the tribe and could also go hunting in the mountains, so they were able to eat their fill and seemed to be in much better shape than ordinary shamans.

“Great Chief, these shamans seem to be living much worse than us. No wonder they’re trying to rob us.”

Nini whispered to Cangli.

Cang Li nodded: "Yes, the Wu tribe does not farm, they can only hunt in the mountains, but the prey is limited. If this continues, the Wu tribe will not have a meal, and their food source will be unstable, so they will naturally have to find ways to steal."

Nini wholeheartedly agreed. This leader of the witch tribe was definitely not as good as their great chief, otherwise how could a tribe leader be unable to feed his people?

This witch leader is utterly useless.

Cang Li settled down in the Li tribe, but instead of rushing to urge Li to come, he took advantage of his status as a guest to wander around the Wu tribe and observe their situation.

Ordinary shamans of the shaman tribe indeed lived a very ordinary life. Every day they would go out into the mountains to find something to eat, and scavenge the leftover meat and bones from the great shamans to fill their stomachs. The shaman children were also poorly raised; they were just barely surviving.

Furthermore, when the Wu tribe goes up the mountain to find wild fruits and vegetables, they may accidentally pick poisonous plants and die from poisoning. Since there are no doctors to treat them, they can only wait to die.

Cang Li had only been there for two days when he encountered a shaman who suddenly collapsed, convulsed, and foamed at the mouth after eating. The other shamans were only briefly alarmed before turning a blind eye, throwing away the pot of problematic food, and eating something else.

"Aren't you going to abandon him?"

Cang Li couldn't bear to watch a life disappear, so he ran over and held the poisoned witch's neck. Seeing that the witch was still breathing, he immediately turned her over and pressed on her stomach to induce vomiting. She hadn't died immediately; it was probably just simple food poisoning. She might be able to live after vomiting.

Nini also came over to help. She didn't understand the behavior of the witch clan. In the human race, if someone accidentally ate something poisonous, they would not turn a blind eye, but would do everything they could to save them.

After the witch had vomited everything out of his stomach, Cang Li grabbed the witch's hair, forced him to open his mouth, poured water into it, and then repeatedly induced him to vomit.

After vomiting two or three times, the witch's complexion gradually improved.

Cang Li breathed a sigh of relief; the person was finally back, thankfully the food wasn't highly poisonous.

After rescuing the person, Cang Li looked at the shaman who was still eating and questioned him somewhat angrily:

"Why didn't you save him? Isn't he one of your own people?"

After a moment of silence in the tribe, a shaman looked at Cang Li and said:

"What's the use of saving them? They'll die from this sooner or later anyway."

Cang Li was so angry at these words that showed no will to live that he laughed:

"Since you knew this would lead to someone's death, why didn't you record the poisonous plant and fruit the first time someone was poisoned? And then inform others not to eat this food?"

The witch clan was stunned. They thought, "You can do that?"

Cang Li gritted his teeth: "Even if there are no records, you shouldn't treat your own people so coldly!"

The Witch Clan is indeed an uncivilized race!

After the shaman was revived, he simply went to eat another pot of food that was fine, seemingly unconcerned about the fact that he had almost died.

Cang Li was so angry she was speechless. She couldn't understand how the Wu Clan and the Demon Clan could cause such chaos throughout the prehistoric world.

They are clearly a race with no fighting spirit.

Footsteps sounded behind him. Cang Li turned around and saw Li returning with his men, carrying back a lot of prey, enough to feed the entire tribe for several days.

The numb shamans' eyes lit up instantly at the sight of food: "Great Shaman! You've returned from the hunt!"

He nodded forcefully, a scratch mark on his arm, as if from a wild beast, and dried blood on his face. He tossed down the enormous unicorn monster he had been carrying on his back and said:

“I didn’t come back in winter, and I know you don’t have enough food, so I caught a lot more this time. After the tribe’s high shaman distributes the food, the rest will be yours.”

All the witches cheered instantly.

Cang Li was speechless for a moment; she would not allow the human race to fall into such a state.

After Li finished speaking, he walked towards Cang Li, took two rabbits from his waist and tossed them to Cang Li, saying:

"Don't say I don't know how to entertain guests. I see that you humans don't like to eat things with a strong fishy smell. You can take this rabbit and eat it."

Cang Li didn't refuse, picked up the rabbit and said, "Thank you."

Li seemed a little embarrassed, and awkwardly raised his chin as he said:

"Don't worry, once I've finished my work in the tribe, I'll go ask a high-ranking shaman I know in the Houtu Ancestral Witch tribe, and I'll make sure you get to see Houtu Ancestral Witch as soon as possible."

Cang Li laughed, shook the rabbit in her hand, and said, "Then thank you in advance."

Li blushed slightly, ran away in a slightly flustered manner, gave a few instructions to his chief shaman, and then left the tribe.

Cangli and Nini sat in front of the tent and started a fire. Nini prepared the rabbit, and Cangli took out some seasonings from his backpack to marinate it. Then he put it on the fire and roasted it slowly. He also took out the dagger that Dijun had given him before and made two cuts on it to make the meat more flavorful.

Soon, the aroma of meat filled the tribe. The Wu tribe people were content with their food and hadn't considered the smell. Upon smelling the aroma, they all turned their eyes in this direction.

Adults can hold back, but children can't resist at all.

Cang Li had only grilled half of the meat when she looked up and saw a small group of witches surrounding her and Nini, their eyes wide open, staring at her meat, drool dripping from their mouths.

Nini tugged at Cang Li's sleeve and whispered, "Chief, they're so pitiful."

Human children would never look at someone like that.

Cang Li sighed and said softly to the Wu tribe children, "It's not cooked yet. Wait a little longer, and I'll share it with you later."

The Wu tribe children were a little stunned. Why was this pretty older sister sharing food with them? Their Wu tribe never shared food.

Cang Li didn't speak, but focused on grilling the meat. She even took out some meat that had been sitting in her backpack for a long time to grill. Time had stopped in her backpack. Since the human race developed, she hadn't touched the food that had been put in there for a long time.

After roasting, Cang Li first gave one rabbit to Nini, and then distributed the rest to the children of the Wu tribe. He told the children who hadn't received any, "Don't worry, there will be more later."

Although we can't let these children eat as much as they want, each of them will still get a little bit.

After distributing the food, Cang Li watched with a smile as the children wolfed it down. The other members of the Wu tribe looked at each other, puzzled as to why this seemingly foolish outsider was sharing his food with others.

Cang Li patted Nini on the shoulder and said, "Nini, I'm going out for a walk."

Nini nodded, waved her hand, and continued eating.

Cang Li walked out of the tribe and sat on a rock in a daze. If she hadn't come, would the human race have also gone through such a chaotic period?

No, humans are different. Humans are intelligent and capable of thinking, so even without her, humans wouldn't remain like this for long. They would only experience a brief period of confusion before continuing to live positively and optimistically.

Cang Li relaxed as he looked at the scenery in front of him; the scenery of Buzhou Mountain was indeed quite beautiful.

Several figures slowly came into view. Cang Li looked over and saw that Li had returned with several unfamiliar members of the Wu clan.

Upon approaching, Li saw Cang Li and spoke:

"They are subordinates of Houtu, the ancestral witch."

Cang Li immediately jumped off the rock to greet him:

Hello!

Those high shamans did indeed seem to be in better condition than this tribe, and were even more polite. After exchanging glances, they nodded to Cang Li and then asked:

"Li says you are the leader of the human race and wish to see our Ancestral Witch?"

Cang Li nodded: "That's right. I have some things I want to discuss with your Ancestral Witches. I'm sure Li has mentioned our human race to you before. I believe your Ancestral Witches will be interested. So please convey my message that Cang Li, the leader of the human race, requests an audience with the Ancestral Witch Houtu."

The high shamans exchanged glances, then whispered a few words to each other before saying to Cang Li:

"Alright, we'll report back to our Ancestral Witch after we get back."

Cang Li breathed a sigh of relief and thanked him with a smile: "Thank you very much! I look forward to your good news."

None of the high shamans entered the Li tribe; they simply said goodbye to Li and turned back.

Li, exhausted, finally saw the children gathered around Cang Li's dwelling, eating roasted meat. Li turned to Cang Li and said:

"There's no need for that; they have food."

Cang Li waved his hand dismissively: "What's the big deal? If they want to eat it, let them. I can't eat much anyway."

Li remained silent for a moment, until Cang Li was about to enter the tent, when Li suddenly asked:

"Yes, could you teach us how to obtain as much food as humans?"

Cang Li smiled; she had been waiting for Li to ask this question for the past few days. Cang Li turned to look at Li and said:

"Well, it's not impossible, but let's talk about it after I've met Houtu, the Ancestral Witch."

Li instantly smiled, looking at Cang Li with gratitude: "Thank you!"
