Chapter 10 Changing Maps

Chapter 10 Changing Maps

The busy days were chaotic but orderly. It took the Jiang family another three days to finish all the chores.

Early in the morning, Mrs. Xu took her children to burn paper at the grave of Mrs. Xu. After the three children kowtowed, she also knelt down and kowtowed three times.

"Sister, the kids and I are leaving.

I will definitely take good care of Wan Jie'er in this life, so you can rest assured. Once I'm settled there, I'll offer the tablet to you. Then you can come along and we can live together.

It would save you from being alone here, with no one to talk to. Wouldn’t that be lonely…”

She chatted with her sister reluctantly for a long time, and when the sun gradually climbed up the clouds and revealed its bright red face, the mother and her friends carried their small bamboo baskets and walked back.

Jiang Wan fell quietly behind Xu. Seeing how much sisterly love she had with her biological mother in the grave, it was hard not to feel emotional.

The ancients really valued promises and affection. It can be said that Aunt Xu has done the best for her niece!

Although I have no memory of my biological mother in my mind, I have seen Xu busy and toiling for so many years, and I have seen her secretly shedding tears several times.

In fact, raising a stupid child is much more difficult than raising a normal child, and you even have to be prepared to hold on to the child for your entire life.

If it were me, I might not be able to do it.

He turned his head quietly and looked in the direction of the grave.

A cool breeze suddenly blew across the path, which was gradually getting hot. When it brushed against her cheek, it was as if someone was gently and reluctantly touching her face.

Two big tears rolled down from my eyes for no apparent reason.

"Sister, why don't you leave?"

Jiang Han turned around to look for her out of habit, then shouted at the top of his voice.

"Why are you crying? Did you twist your ankle? Mom, mom, come and see what's wrong with silly girl?"

"Shut up!"

Jiang Wan calmly reached out and wiped away her tears. The sudden sadness in her heart was completely driven away by her noisy sister.

Jiang Yaozu, frightened by the beating, was too timid to dare poke his elder sister. But since he hadn't seen his elder sister cry in a long time, he found it quite unusual. He followed behind his mother, sticking his head out to join in the fun.

Mrs. Xu turned around a few steps, took her eldest daughter's hand, gently touched the corners of her slightly red eyes, and her voice was as kind as ever.

"Good boy, don't cry. Mother is here."

She had been saying this for twelve years, and it had long been engraved in the child's mind, easily soothing any sudden sadness and anxiety.

"I didn't feel like crying, it's just that the wind blew my eyes a little bit, and the dust made them blind."

"Are you feeling better then?"

Mrs. Xu quickly flipped her daughter's eyelids and blew on them carefully.

"Alright, alright. Mother, it's getting late. We should hurry back. The tribesmen who came to see us off should have arrived at our doorstep by now."

Jiang Wan pointed at the sun, and Xu nodded.

"Okay, let's get going. Second and third brother, please walk faster so as not to delay leaving the house."

The children responded and followed suit.

"Oh, I see."

"I'm already walking very fast. If I go any faster, I'll be out of breath. How about you carry me on your back? I can't walk anymore, Mom..."

There's always someone who can handle such fantastical talk. Jiang Wanliang bared his teeth in a cold frown.

"Jiang Lao San, how many meals of stir-fried pork and bamboo shoots do you want?"

The threat was very effective and the results were immediate.

The little fat boy, who was originally dawdling in the same place, immediately moved his fat hooves and trotted over to catch up.

"Sister, don't hit me, I was just joking!"

"Hahaha, Jiang Yaozu, you coward, you deserve to be beaten! Let's see if you dare to bully me again?"

Jiang Han, a girl who loves to watch the fun, always finds the right opportunity to kick her brother when he's down, and she watches the fun. This makes Jiang Yaozu so angry that he gives her a cold look.

"When did I bully you? It's obviously you who is bullying me now! Big sister, you are biased, why don't you beat up Jiang Lao Er?"

Jiang Wan curled the corners of his lips leisurely.

"Well, maybe it's because I'm partial?"

"Hahahahaha, Jiang Laosan, you're going to complain and fall into the ditch, right? Don't you see the affection between me and the silly girl, who have been sleeping in the same room for so many years? How can a disgusting person like you compare to that?"

"Mom! Look, my elder sister and the second sister are bullying me, and you're not going to do anything about it? If I get angry, I'm telling you, they're not easy to appease..."

The lively bickering among the children brought a rare moment of peace to Xu. She looked up at the rising sun in the east, her heart filled with anticipation for the days ahead.

Things will get better and better in the future, right?

Jiang Huailiang was at the gate, carefully checking the two carriages inside and out. He had spent a lot of money to buy these things in the county town, and he couldn't let them break down halfway.

The personal guard Wang Hu came over to ask for instructions.

"General, are you going to leave today?"

"Why don't you leave? The time given by Prince Huai is almost up. If I don't go back and delay anything, I might get beaten up!"

Jiang Huailiang joked with a smile, tightened the reins of the horse, turned around and saw his wife leading the children back.

"Okay, go tell the brothers to get ready quickly, we're leaving now."

"yes!"

The guards took the order and left, and Jiang Huailiang went to greet his wife and children with a smile.

He then asked his parents to get on the carriage from among the group of crying old men and women. As the clansmen waved goodbye to him in tears, Jiang Huailiang climbed into the carriage with a smile, whipped the horse and set off.

Anyway, there was nothing good worth collecting in the house. The most valuable things in Lao Jiang's family were these few people, oh, and the hen that could only lay eggs. He packed them all up in two cars and took them away.

Although it is hard to leave my hometown, the future is still long, and I have to say goodbye no matter how reluctant I am.

After another long journey, the three Jiang brothers and sisters slept and woke up in the carriage. After several days and nights of drowsiness, the carriage finally stopped at the foot of a tall city.

"Look, Yu Niang, this is Maocheng! It's where your man is stationed now. How is it? Isn't it impressive?"

Jiang Huailiang stretched out his large palm, which was like a palm-leaf fan, and gently patted the door, and his wife leaned out of the carriage.

"Keep your voice down. The children are feeling unwell. Take us back to our place quickly. We're already there. You can take us out for a walk after we've recovered."

"Oh, all right then."

The man who wanted to show off his achievements in front of his wife was stopped by her words. He felt a little depressed. With his full beard, he didn't look so proud anymore!

Mrs. Xu patted her husband's wristband with amusement, hooked his ear over, and praised him in a very low voice.

"My husband is truly a great hero. He has accomplished so much and has brought honor to his wife and children. I, your wife, truly admire you!"

The heroic husband who had been a groom all the way immediately grinned.

"You're a bit of a woman, you have some vision. You know how to admire a good person like me! Not bad, you have good vision, hahahaha!"

He whipped the horse and drove into the city.
