Chapter 52 - Taking Over
Before Qian Bowen could even nod to show he understood, Qin Buzhu surprised them by saying, "It's not as complicated as you think. She's changed after what she went through, and she's doing fine now. She lives here because she has nowhere else to go. Now, when she's free, she earns money and cooks for herself, and is living the life she lived before college again."
"No, then why didn't she divorce you?" Qian Bowen immediately grasped the key point, "Divorce and her new life, these two have nothing to do with each other, right? Why does she have to be by your side?"
Qin Buzhu knocked on the table, and Qian Bowen's excitement immediately subsided a little. He said slowly, "There are other reasons. You don't need to know. Just be polite to her from now on. She's not as bad as you think."
Qian Bowen was about to ask something else when he was interrupted by Wu Quanzhang. Wu Quanzhang seemed to have seen through something and there was a clear smile in his words: "Second brother has his own plans. We certainly don't have to worry. Since Miss Shi is not what we thought, we should be more polite to her in the future."
After saying that, Wu Quanzhang looked at Qian Bowen helplessly and shook his head: "Xiaowu, I'm not saying anything to you, Fourth Brother. I know you're close to Second Brother, but could you please stop getting so excited when you hear about Second Brother? Don't imitate Xiaoliu all day long. You'll end up with a brain that doesn't work well."
Qian Bowen almost exploded: "How could I be like that little idiot Xiaoliu?"
"I think it's almost done." Wu Quanzhang shrugged. "Earlier, I didn't let Xiaoliu go to the banquet to find Second Brother, but he couldn't help but run over and almost caused trouble for Second Brother. You two are both equally matched."
"No, I just got back and don't understand the situation, okay? And you didn't explain it to me clearly, and you only spoke half-heartedly. The only reason you didn't drive me crazy is because I have good patience." Qian Bowen glared at Wu Quanzhang, only for him to laugh.
"Let's not talk about this anymore. Xiaowu, are you planning to enter the Qianshi class now that you're back?" Qin Buzhu asked with a smile in his eyes as he watched his two brothers fooling around.
Qian Bowen collapsed like a deflated ball. "I don't want to go, but my husband insists I go. You know I have no interest in the automotive industry. It's really annoying."
"You're not interested, but who gave you that talent?" Wu Quanzhang didn't just offer any comfort. Instead, he took a sip of his tea, his expression slightly gloating. "You were able to help your father discover problems in his newly developed car while still in high school, and you still expect him to let you go? He'd probably wake up laughing in his dreams at the thought of having a son like you, born to serve the family business."
"Please let me go. If I had known that my old man was so cunning, I would never have fallen for his tricks." Qian Bowen said this with a depressed look on his face.
"My brief leisure time is almost gone. My pitiful food business is about to be taken away by my father. It's really infuriating. That old man has never shown his foodie nature, but he was able to hide it for so many years. It's terrifying."
"It's a blessing to have elders pushing you forward. Uncle Qian has put a lot of effort into you, so cherish it." Qin Buzhu poured a cup of tea for Qian Boyen and pushed it towards him, motioning him to drink.
Qian Bowen stood up, picked up the tea and drank it in one gulp. He was ridiculed by Wu Quanzhang again, but he was justified: "I have never been able to appreciate classical culture like my second brother in my life. All teas taste the same. I can drink it in one gulp and feel refreshed. Isn't that perfect?"
