Chapter 4 - Cooking
"You don't want a divorce? But didn't you say yesterday—" Qin Bulu didn't expect her to say that.
Shi Feiye recalled that Cannon Fodder seemed to be very angry yesterday and said that the boss was useless and wanted a divorce. Her face froze:
"Well, I was drunk at the time. That's not what I meant. I've thought it through. I can't divorce you now. Since we're married, I won't divorce you now. I'll take care of my life in the future. You don't have to worry about me. I can support myself and maybe even you."
When she looked up, Qin Buzhu looked at her with a strange look in his eyes. She knew that her reaction just now was very different from before, and she didn't know what to say for a moment.
"If you don't want a divorce, then forget it. Just tell me when you want a divorce." Qin Bulu didn't say anything else. He rubbed his temples, his eyes showing fatigue, and got up to go to the bathroom to wash up.
Shi Feiye lowered her head awkwardly and continued eating. She heard Qin Buzhu pause for a few seconds after entering the bathroom, probably because he saw how different she looked after getting dressed. Then, the sound of running water began, and she began to wash up.
After she finished eating, Qin Buliu also washed up and came out. There was no awkward scene as Shi Feiye had imagined. He was wearing clothes that covered him up quite tightly. With a handsome face that looked angry and resentful, he thanked Shi Feiye and went to his bedroom. Before entering, he politely said to her, "You should go to bed early too."
Staring blankly at the already-eaten lunch box in front of him, Shi Feiye scratched his hair, feeling like he was dreaming. He reorganized his thoughts, went to wash up, and then returned to his room, opened his laptop, and applied online for a personal store on the secondhand market before shutting down and going to sleep.
The next morning, Shi Feiye woke up at 6:30 AM as usual. She thought for a moment, then reluctantly got up and gathered the ingredients she had bought yesterday. After cooking the porridge, she went downstairs to buy some steamed buns and fried dough sticks.
When she came back, Qin Buzhu just opened the door and came out.
Even though he had just woken up early in the morning, the man looked refreshingly bright and clear, not even slightly disturbed by a late night. He looked up when he heard the noise and saw the breakfast in Shi Feiye's hand. He unconsciously rubbed his eyes, perhaps thinking he had seen things wrongly.
"Good morning." Shi Feiye raised the steamed buns and fried dough sticks in her hand, "I bought breakfast and made porridge. Go wash up."
After saying that, she went to the kitchen to see how the porridge was cooking, ignoring the surprised look from Qin Buzhu behind her.
Because they had both been up all night, Shi Feiye was worried they might be running low on energy and blood, so she specially made some red date and red bean porridge. It was almost done now, so she scooped two bowls of it into the porcelain bowls she'd bought yesterday. Then she added the steamed buns and fried dough sticks to a plate, cooked an egg, and prepared some side dishes. When Qin Buzhu came out of the bathroom, he saw what could barely be called a hearty breakfast on the table.
The scene before him was very heartwarming, but Qin Buzhu didn't feel it at all. He knew his wife well. After being married for almost three years, she had never had any talent for housework or cooking. The only thing she knew was shopping, and the information he had found before the marriage didn't mention that she could do these things.
So, it was all a disguise before?
The estimation in Qin Buzhu's eyes was too obvious, so Shi Feiye gave the reason he had thought of last night:
"Before, we had a maid and an aunt, so I didn't do any cooking. Now it's just the two of us, and we don't have much money, so we can't keep going out. The food I cook isn't delicious, but it's passable. If you don't mind, you can come back for dinner later."
