Chapter 140- Divorce
After dinner, Qin Si had to do his homework, Shi Feiye also had to write, and Qin Bulu had his own things to deal with, so everyone was busy with their own things.
Qin Si only came back for the weekend, stayed home the next day, and was sent back to school on the third. Shi Feiye also saw through him how heavy the academic workload was for these children from wealthy families attending aristocratic schools. Not only were there tons of homework, but there were also a ton of other tasks. It was truly difficult for these children to persevere.
But now that Qin Si is gone, some things can start moving forward.
On Monday night, Qin Buzhu came home early to eat dinner. Shi Feiye prepared a rich meal. During the meal, Shi Feiye pondered over and over again in his heart, and finally mustered up the courage to speak:
"Let's get a divorce."
Qin Buzhu's hand holding the chopsticks tightened, his brows knitted, thinking there was something wrong with his ears: "What did you just say?"
"I say, let's get a divorce." After saying this, Shi Feiye calmed down. She didn't owe the boss anything in the first place, and now that the boss was about to rise, it didn't matter whether she left or not. They should all return to their own paths and live their own lives.
"Why?" Qin Buzhu put down his chopsticks and looked straight at Shi Feiye.
"We've never really been a couple. When I first learned you'd just gone bankrupt, I didn't divorce you because I thought you'd given me a lot of money and treated me well. I thought you might not be used to ordinary life, so I wanted to stay and earn money to support the family, and then I could help you through this difficult time as a way of repaying you for your kindness to me."
Shi Feiye glanced at Qin Buzhu cautiously, and found that he was just looking at her without any reaction, so she continued:
"But aren't you about to make a comeback now? You shouldn't need me anymore. You're a big shot, and I'm just an ordinary citizen. Our marriage was a mistake. I didn't think clearly back then before I accepted Grandpa Qin's proposal. Now that I've come to my senses, I certainly can't keep dragging you down like this. You and I have no grudges against each other, so I can't be so uncultured, right?"
"It's not a burden." Qin Bulu interrupted her.
"Yes, you have a noble character. You promised Grandpa Qin that you would take good care of me, so you won't consider me a burden. But people must know their own limitations. We are like the seabird and the fish in the poem 'The Birds'. If it weren't for Grandpa Qin's forced connection, we wouldn't be together even after eight hundred years. Our living habits are very different, and our knowledge and experience are vastly different. I don't believe that people with such different family backgrounds can love each other for a lifetime, let alone that we don't love each other."
"You also know that my project is about to be launched and will bring in a lot of money. Aren't you worried that you won't get any property if we divorce now?" Qin Buzhu's eyes were deep.
"Spending so much of your money before was already excessive. If we divorce, the new house and the money in the family will be yours. I'll just keep 30,000 yuan for emergencies. Now I have my own income, so I won't have a bad life in the future. This was the life I lived before I met you and Grandpa Qin. Now I'm returning to my normal life."
Shi Feiye spoke very sincerely, looking at Qin Buzhu without dodging or evading her gaze, as if she was truly unmoved by the possible wealth that was about to come. Qin Buzhu looked at her inquiringly, and she just let him look at her steadily, her eyes as clear as a mirror.
