Chapter 39 The Truth

Cheng Yuesheng hurriedly packed a suitcase of clothes. Fortunately, when she sold clothes on a second-hand platform, she had separated the unsuitable clothes, so it was relatively quick to pack.

To understand the original owner's personality, she had already gone through the room. Finding nothing important, she packed up her laptop, PAD, and ID cards, stuffing everything that could fit into her suitcase and placing anything that didn't fit into her backpack.

Cheng Yuesheng wondered what else he wanted to take with him, then ran to the study and found the original owner's diary among a pile of boxes.

She squatted on the ground with the diary in her hand, thinking for a long time. Finally, she stood up as if she had made up her mind, took the diary and walked out to the living room.

Qin Heque in the living room had returned to normal expression, with no trace of the guilt he had worn before.

"You've packed it up so quickly?" Qin Heque was a little surprised at her speed.

"Almost." Cheng Yuesheng nodded, then opened the diary, hesitated for a while, and handed it to him.

"What is this?" He took the diary and began to read.

Qin Heque was silent for a while after reading the diary.

"What do you want to say by showing me this diary?" He frowned slightly.

"I am an illegitimate daughter." Cheng Yuesheng didn't dare to look at his expression. She lowered her head and looked at the ground, her voice weak.

"so what?"

She made up her mind and said, "I don't know if you mind that I'm an illegitimate daughter. If you mind, then we shouldn't have any contact in the future, and you shouldn't meddle in my affairs..."

"Cheng Yuesheng!" Qin Heque interrupted her and looked at her distraught face with a frown.

"When I met you, I didn't know about your relationship with the Cheng family. The nurse said that you were in the hospital alone and no family members had ever visited you. At that time, I just thought you were a poor little girl." He recalled the first time he saw Cheng Yuesheng. At that time, she was still sick and very thin. She was tall, but in the loose hospital gown, she looked like a child wearing adult clothes. He initially thought Cheng Yuesheng was a high school student, but he didn't expect that she was actually about to graduate from her senior year.

"I associate with you only because you are Cheng Yuesheng, not because of whose daughter you are, and I will not cut off ties with you just because you are an illegitimate daughter. I know very well what kind of person you are. If you are an illegitimate daughter, it only means that your father made a mistake, not your fault."

Hearing this, Cheng Yuesheng suddenly looked up and looked straight into his eyes. She saw sincerity.

She hadn't expected Qin Heque to say such things to her. When she learned that the body she possessed was that of an illegitimate daughter, besides being shocked, she felt a bit queasy and aggrieved. But Qin Heque was right. It wasn't her fault. She had never done anything to wrong the Cheng family. Even the original owner, after learning she was an illegitimate daughter, had always felt guilty towards Cheng's mother and Cheng Siyue and had never intended to hurt them.

"Shengsheng, there's one more thing I think I should tell you." Qin Heque was silent for a moment, then continued, "And Shengsheng, you're probably not an illegitimate child. What I mean is, the Cheng couple are most likely not your biological parents."

"What?" Cheng Yuesheng was so shocked that he forgot to close his mouth, with a look of disbelief on his face.

From the second daughter of the Cheng family to an illegitimate daughter, and from an illegitimate daughter to not being a biological daughter, her identity changed several times in just two days, leaving her at a loss for words for a moment.

Qin Heque felt a little regretful for a moment, thinking that she had been hit so hard that she couldn't recover.

"I'm sorry, I didn't want to tell you." But he felt that instead of confining her to the identity of an illegitimate daughter, it would be better to tell her that she might not be the biological daughter of the Cheng couple.

"It's okay, just let me take it easy. I was just too shocked for a moment and didn't react."

"Do you still want to continue listening?" Qin Heque asked.

"I want to know." She nodded.

Seeing that she seemed to have recovered, Qin Heque continued, "Actually, I recently had someone investigate a problem with Cheng Cheng Construction and found out about it. I don't think you knew that Cheng Cheng Construction had your shares. My people also accidentally discovered that the dividends from these shares were kept by Cheng Gong for you before you came of age. However, according to the agreement, they should be returned to you when you come of age, and when you turn 30 or get married, the shares will be completely under your control. But you are already 22 years old, and you have never known about the shares. Cheng Gong must have done something about it."

"You mean, he took away the shares that belonged to me?" Cheng Yuesheng asked.

"He didn't take it away directly. This part of the shares has always been held by an institution, but in fact the dividends and control rights are in Cheng Gong's hands." Qin Heque explained.

"That's why he always wanted to take me back and asked me to marry him. It was all to control me so that he could get the shares." Cheng Yuesheng suddenly realized. No wonder they had a way to solve the company's difficulties, but they still told her that she needed her to marry to solve it. If it was the original owner, she should have agreed long ago out of guilt for being an illegitimate daughter, and she would have been eaten up by the Cheng family.

"So you are definitely not the biological child of the Cheng family, nor are you an illegitimate child." Qin Heque reached out and patted her on the head, then asked, "Do you want to know who your biological parents are?"

"Do you know?" Cheng Yuesheng asked.

"I don't know, but when you get the shares back, you should know who left them to you. I think no one except your parents and closest relatives would leave such an important thing to you." Qin Heque changed his patting action to stroking, making her originally neatly combed hair a little frizzy.
