Chapter 22 Sharing a Bed

Chapter 22 Sharing a Bed

This was so accurate that Chen Ting was really surprised: "How did you determine that?"

It was true that he had old injuries, but they were almost frank with each other last night, and she most likely caught a glimpse of something, so she guessed this, but how did she know the depression in her heart? He never showed it in front of anyone.

But the petite girl in front of him stretched out her jade-white hand and gently stroked his brow - "My husband, there is sadness between your brows. I can see it."

Chen Ting touched his eyebrows in silence, wondering if he had wrinkles between his eyebrows because he frowned all the time... But he had obviously paid attention to it. If there were wrinkles, he would look old and ugly. How come she still saw it?

The cold black iron gauntlet accidentally touched her hand, and the sharp fingertips almost pierced her delicate skin. The man's eyes trembled, and he suddenly pulled his hand back and said stiffly: "Don't touch me casually."

"I'm sorry." Shen Wangshu apologized quietly. She thought that they had become a little familiar with each other and got carried away for a moment, forgetting that this guy had a lot of rules.

Chen Ting looked at her face which no longer exuded tenderness and joy, and was a little annoyed. He explained, "You have to be on guard all the time on the battlefield, and the hand armor is sharp and can easily hurt you."

So you'd better not get too close to me.

The words stayed on the tip of my tongue for a moment, but ultimately I couldn't utter them.

"Actually, I really hope someone will approach me."

When Shen Wangshu heard his voice, he felt wronged and pitiful, completely different from the cold and resistant tone he displayed.

How could someone, she wondered, be so hypocritical?

"It's getting late, let's take a rest." After a moment of silence, Chen Ting took the initiative.

There were two quilts on the couch, creating an extra boundary between the two people who were not very familiar with each other. Shen Wangshu asked Wutong to bring them.

Chen Ting took off his outer coat with his back to her. When he was about to untie the belt of his inner garment, he suddenly remembered that he was not sleeping alone, so he gave up.

Looking back, Shen Wangshu had already wrapped himself in a thin blanket and rolled to the corner. The space between them was wide enough for at least one more person to lie down.

He slept outside, so he had to blow out the lights and draw down the curtains himself without saying anything.

Shen Wangshu seemed calm but was actually nervous as he stuck to the wall and quietly guarded for a long time, but the people sleeping outside did not move.

She turned over and took a peek. The man was lying upright with his eyes closed, like a mummy sleeping in a pyramid, with his hands crossed on his abdomen. His sleeping posture was extremely proper.

I don’t know if he fell asleep... Shen Wangshu watched for a while, and finally couldn’t resist the sleepiness, so he covered his mouth, yawned, and fell asleep.

After she fell asleep, the man beside her pillow opened his eyes silently and stared quietly at her long eyelashes wet with tears. A hint of gold suddenly flashed in his dark eyes.

He clenched his gauntlet, trying his best to suppress the pain, numbness and itchiness of his tongue that wanted to bite something.

It was still dark outside when Shen Wangshu was awakened by the rustling noise of people getting up.

She lay in the quilt and stared blankly for a while, and suddenly remembered that she was in ancient times. It seemed that wives in ancient times had to get up early to help their husbands change clothes and also send them out to work.

But she was really sleepy...

After struggling for a while, Shen Wangshu sat up with difficulty, got off the bed with half-closed eyes, picked up clothes and put them on him, and spoke with a deep sleepy voice: "Good morning, husband, what time is it now?"

Chen Ting looked at the sleepy little lady in his arms who couldn't open her eyes. He put on his crooked clothes and avoided the little hands that were pretending to grope around on his body. He tied the jade belt, stretched out his long arms to pick her up, and leaned over to put her back on the couch: "It's still early, you can continue to sleep, don't worry about me."

If I let her take a little longer to put on her clothes, I’ll have no chance of getting out on time.

Shen Wangshu closed his eyes peacefully and returned to sleep, still muttering incoherently: "Really? That's great, my husband, be careful on the road, and come home early for dinner..."

"......" Chen Ting strode out of the room, looked at the maids who were about to go in, and said, "No need to call, let Madam sleep a little longer."

Everyone murmured in response.

When the man's figure disappeared, Mei Xue whispered, "I didn't expect the general to be so considerate to my wife."

Wutong said calmly: "It is a good thing that the masters have a harmonious relationship."

"Indeed, but they didn't call for water last night. It's already this late, why hasn't Madam woken up yet?" Mei Xue looked a little strange: "Could the general have changed his clothes by himself?"

Tao Hong explained in a low voice: "Sister Mei Xue, Madam used to not get up early at home. She was not in good health and said she needed to get more sleep."

So it is very likely that the general took care of himself.

Meixue and Wutong looked at each other, not knowing what to say.

At the same time, they were also a little surprised that the general, who was naturally aloof, could be so indulgent to his new wife. Not to mention helping her husband change clothes, after getting married, a woman would regard her husband as her God. They had never seen a situation where the husband got up early while his wife was still sleeping soundly on the couch.

It's really strange.

No one came in to disturb him, and Shen Wangshu slept until dawn.

Outside the window came the sound of the maids cleaning and moving things. She woke up and shouted refreshed: "Taohong!"

Four maids filed in and helped her wash and change clothes. When Shen Wangshu asked the time, he realized that it was already past the hour of Chen: "Why didn't anyone come in to call me?"

Tao Hong said: "The general told you to sleep a little longer."

Nanny Liang looked thoughtfully at the quilt on the couch, which was folded on one side and crumpled on the other side, and asked suddenly, "Madam, did you sleep with the general on a separate quilt last night?"

Shen Wangshu nodded: "Yes, it's hot, the general probably won't want to hold me to sleep."

"You sleep outside?"

"I'll sleep inside."

Nanny Liang and the four maids were silent for a moment. Tao Hong blushed and reminded, "Madam, after marriage, wives usually sleep outside so that they can serve their husbands more conveniently."

This rule was tacitly accepted, so Nanny Liang had not specifically told her about it. She mainly talked about some things about how to control a man in the room. Unexpectedly, none of them were used, and even their positions were swapped.

"No wonder the general changed his clothes by himself this morning." Mei Xue looked at Shen Wangshu with admiration: "So it was the general who served you last night."

Shen Wangshu: "...I am used to sleeping against the wall. Who told him not to remind me?"

Nanny Liang said seriously, "This is too rude. Although the general doesn't say it, he may dislike you in his heart. You must change it tonight. Don't use two quilts. Husband and wife should sleep on the same quilt."

"......"

Shen Wangshu said reluctantly: “I know.”

Damn it! People in ancient times really had no privacy. They had to meddle in other people’s bedroom affairs, even how she and Chen Ting slept had to be arranged by them!
