Chapter 431 Chicken Stew with Potatoes

The next morning, Song Yuehua got on Ma Ye's ox cart and went to the county town.

Also on the ox cart was Xiao Cui's mother, Xue.

"Miss Song."

Mrs. Xie greeted her with a reserved smile, and Song Yuehua also nodded at her.

During this journey, neither of them spoke.

Only after getting off the ox cart did Song Yuehua ask in a low voice, "Is Xiao Cui feeling better?"

"The redness has just stopped in the past few days. I plan to go to the pharmacy to get two more prescriptions for her." Mrs. Xie spoke in a very low voice.

It has been almost a month since Song Yuehua brought the girl back home, and the bleeding has only just stopped. Doesn't that mean...

I don’t know how long I stayed in the cold ditch that day.

Song Yuehua went to the market to find Zhu Pingan.

When the boy saw her, his eyes lit up, "Sister Song, is there anything you want to buy?"

"Are there any chicks?" Song Yuehua asked with a smile.

Zhu Pingan nodded, "We have piglets and chickens."

"Send 200 chicks to the compound for me." Song Yuehua said, then became a little worried, "Can you do it alone?"

"No problem," Zhu Pingan patted his chest and said, "You can send it over in three days."

"Can."

Zhu Pingan chuckled and said, "My cousin will be resting in three days, so it's a good opportunity to go find him."

The matter of the chicks was settled, and Song Yuehua went to Ji's shop again.

When Song Yuehua came over, she happened to meet Wang Xiaoye who came to deliver charcoal.

"Is the charcoal still selling well?" Song Yuehua asked.

Wang Xiaoye nodded and said, "After a while, it won't be so easy to sell."

"That will be a month or two later," Zhang Dandan continued. "We can stock up on more wood this summer and sell it in the winter. It will be great to make a lot of money."

Wang Xiaoye smiled and said nothing.

"Are you going back to the village later?" Song Yuehua asked.

Wang Xiaoye said, "We'll leave soon."

Song Yuehua asked Zhang Dandan to buy two bags of brown sugar and a bag of red dates, and took them outside to give to Wang Xiaoye.

"Please help me deliver it to the Feng family in Hongye Village." Song Yuehua said.

Wang Xiaoye asked, "Is Feng Cuihua still not well?"

"It's quite serious," Song Yuehua said, "Aunt Xue came to the county to buy medicine again today. I'm afraid it's more serious than we thought."

Wang Xiaoye put the things away and said, "I'll take it back to you."

A few days later, Song Yuehua stayed in the chess hall for a few days before returning home.

After arriving home, Song Yuehua took some things to Feng's house to see Xiao Cui.

When Mrs. Xie saw what Song Yuehua brought, she was too embarrassed to accept it. "Miss Song, I received the brown sugar and red dates you asked me to bring back a few days ago. Why am I still accepting these things from you?"

"Take it, and give some more to Xiao Cui. People are more important than anything else."

After Song Yuehua put down her things, she went into the house to see Xiao Cui.

His face was thin and his complexion was gray. The whole room was filled with the smell of medicine. There were two small stoves burning smokeless charcoal nearby, so it didn't feel lonely at all.

"Can you eat?" Song Yuehua asked.

Xiao Cui nodded and said, "I eat every meal, but I don't gain much weight. That's why you see me looking so ugly."

"When you get better, I will help you find a job so that you can live a good life." Song Yuehua said gently.

Xiao Cui shook her head slightly and said, "Boss, you have helped me so much, please stop worrying about me."

The two talked for a long time. Song Yuehua was originally worried that Feng Cuihua was too negative, but after talking for a while, she realized that she was wrong.

When he was about to leave, Mrs. Xie saw him off all the way.

"Yesterday, Xiaoye sent over a hundred kilograms of charcoal. Xiaocui is really indebted to everyone this time." Mrs. Xie said while wiping away tears.

Song Yuehua thought of the Hu family, so she asked, "Did Hu Jinshui never take care of them again?"

"No, no..." Mrs. Xie stuttered, "Xiao Cui is determined to divorce, and she is also very stubborn. How can the wife I married be so cold-blooded?"

Song Yuehua comforted her, "Take good care of Xiao Cui. If there is anything I can help you with, feel free to come to the Song family to find me."

After returning to the village, Song Yuehua went straight to Dongshan and saw a large group of people herding chickens there.

"What's going on?" Song Yuehua asked.

Granny Lan said in distress, "The chickens from the South Yard have escaped again. There are many more chickens this time than last time."

"Didn't Liu Xue explain it clearly to him last time?" While speaking, Song Yuehua bent down and picked up a handful of stones.

Granny Lan said, "Last time Liu Xue went to look for Baozi, she didn't run into him, and she told Yao Er..."

Song Yuehua picked up a stone in her hand and threw it at a chicken.

The chicken realized the danger and was about to run away, but it was too late. A stone knocked it unconscious.

After hitting a handful of stones, a total of six chickens were hit.

Song Yuehua patted the dirt off her hands and said loudly, "The chickens we caught are ours. Pick up these and give them to everyone as a snack tonight."

"Boss, will something happen?" Granny Lan was a little worried.

Song Yuehua smiled and said, "Grandma, what are you afraid of? I will take care of everything."

That night, six chickens were stewed in a big pot of potatoes and chicken.

The whole compound was filled with the aroma of chicken.

Many farmhands also caught chickens, but they were afraid that something might happen, so they sold the chickens to the villagers.

Song Yuehua didn't care after knowing this. Since she had told them, whether they ate it or sold it was their own business.

Before dinner was ready, Baozi came over and angrily asked, "I have dozens of chickens, and you stewed them all?"

"Stew it." Song Yuehua said.

Baozi was irritated by her attitude. "Do you have to be so cruel to us, as we are neighbors? There are dozens of animals that are ignorant and have run into your field. These chickens are not yet fully grown. Aren't you afraid of hurting your teeth if you eat them?"
