The journey that would have taken three hours was completed in just two hours due to the two of them running all the way.
The last section of the road was not easy to find. I asked several local farmers before I found the mountain road to the Taoist temple.
I heard from the farmers that the Baishi Temple is not big, and there are only two or three Taoists inside. They usually grow some vegetables and sell them in the city to exchange for some money.
As soon as she reached the foot of the mountain, Song Yuehua felt something was wrong.
“It’s burning!”
Song Yuehua shouted.
As the two men rushed up the mountain, thick smoke was already billowing out of the Taoist temple.
Wu Zheng rushed over and kicked the door several times but it didn't open.
Song Yuehua came over and kicked the door hard. The door panel fell down and the burning beam also fell down, almost falling on her.
Fortunately, Song Yuehua reacted quickly and jumped in with a big step.
"Don't go in!" Wu Zheng shouted across the thick smoke and fire at the door.
Song Yuehua realized that there would never be a better opportunity than now.
"You go find some villagers to put out the fire, and I'll go find someone inside."
After saying that, Song Yuehua covered her mouth and ran inside.
Wu Zheng was extremely anxious. The steps leading up the mountain were so high that by the time the villagers came up with the water, it would probably have been burned out.
But it would not be a good idea to let him just wait there idly, so Wu Zheng thought about it and decided to find someone to put out the fire first.
I didn't see any thick smoke when I was at the foot of the mountain just now, so it must have just started burning not long ago.
For everything to burn up in such a short time, it must have been set intentionally.
Song Yuehua covered her mouth and ran from the front yard to the back yard, shouting Mu Erlang's name.
The house was on fire and the smoke was so thick that she started coughing.
Finally, I heard human voices in the main hall.
When Song Yuehua rushed over, the fire in the main hall was already very big. In the firelight, she could vaguely see two people tied to the pillars.
It was too late to get the water on myself now, so I could only rush in.
When she stumbled over, her body was also on fire, and the two people she tied up were almost fainted from the smoke.
Song Yuehua cut the rope, carried the two people out of the main hall, and came to the front yard.
The middle of the yard was filled with smoke. Song Yuehua couldn't open her eyes because of the smoke. As soon as she opened them, she burst into tears.
She had no choice but to roll around on the ground with her eyes closed until she put out the flames on her body.
One of them coughed.
"Mu Erlang?"
Song Yuehua called out tentatively.
"who?"
Song Yuehua asked hurriedly, "Where is Yan?"
The man's body stiffened for a moment, and he choked up and said, "Dead..."
"Dead?" Song Yuehua continued to ask, "How did he die?"
"she……"
Mu Jilang began to sob.
Another person also made some noise and said, "A man in black came and tied us up, smashed the crazy woman's head and threw it into the well."
The fire was getting bigger and bigger, and the thick smoke made it impossible for people to speak. Song Yuehua had no time to care about anything else and could only take people out first.
There was a cloud of white smoke in front of her eyes. Song Yuehua carried two people and rushed out following her memory.
After throwing the two men to the ground, Song Yuehua stared blankly at the burning Taoist temple.
Is Yan dead?
Wu Zheng came over to talk to her, "You are injured."
Only then did Song Yuehua realize that her outer clothes had been burned so badly that they could no longer hold on. The flesh on several parts of her body was burnt, and most of her hair had been burnt off.
In comparison, Mu Erlang and his senior brother did not suffer any serious injuries.
There was no decent doctor in the village, only an old lady took out a bottle of badger oil and helped her apply it on the wound.
"Girl, you are seriously injured. Go back and find a doctor to prescribe some scar-removing medicine. Don't leave scars." said the old lady.
"Thank you very much."
After treating the wound, the old lady gave Song Yuehua an old piece of clothing to wear outside.
After she had dealt with her own situation, Song Yuehua went to see Mu Erlang and the Taoist priest.
I heard from them that Yan came to see them last night.
There was shouting and yelling at the door, which scared Mu Erlang and his senior brothers so much that they didn't dare to go out.
The two of them stayed in the Taoist temple, hoping that she would leave on her own.
Until this morning, a skilled man in black brought Yan over the wall and without saying a word, he captured the two people in the Taoist temple and tied them to the pillars.
In front of the two men, he smashed Yan's head with a big stone and then threw it into the well.
After it was over, both of them thought they were going to be silenced too.
Unexpectedly, after killing Yan, the man slowly poured oil all over the Taoist temple and set it on fire, and did not leave until the fire started.
"What I mean is that that person just left and then I rescued you." Song Yuehua asked with a frown.
Mu Jilang nodded and said a little aggrievedly, "Don't make it sound like you regret saving us."
Song Yuehua, "..."
The big question now is, who is that man in black?
Although it perfectly solved Song Yuehua's biggest worry, she still felt that this incident happened in a strange way.
It was not until the afternoon that Wu Zheng and his fellow villagers put out the fire in the Taoist temple.
It would be more accurate to say that the fire went out on its own when there was nothing left to burn.
After putting out the fire, Song Yuehua immediately ran to the well to check Yan's body.
Wu Zheng also came over to take a look, and after just one look, he was so disgusted that he vomited beside the well.
"This is your responsibility, right?" Song Yuehua said.
Wu Zheng's face turned pale when he raised his head.
He didn't even dare to think about having to retrieve the body and carry it back to the charity cemetery for an autopsy.
"I won't accompany you any more."
