Chapter 38

The Song Emperor suddenly became alert:

"Who did you save?"

Jiang Zhixu looked around and saw the look in the emperor's eyes. He quickly sent everyone out, leaving only Eunuch Guo behind.

"It was Song Chengjiao, the prince of Mobei. He was being hunted all the way, but was rescued by my brother-in-law and brought to the Duke's Mansion."

Emperor Song stood up with a jerk, his eyes wide as bells:

"Where is he now? This brat, doesn't he know the danger? If anything happens to him, what will happen to my brother and mother?"

Jiang Zhixu knew it all: the King of Mobei was the younger brother of the current emperor and the empress dowager's youngest son! He had gone to Mobei at such a young age and had made a name for himself in just a few years. The late emperor was so pleased that he immediately made him the King of Mobei, with Mobei as his fiefdom.

It's a shame that the King of Mobei worked so hard in his youth that he injured himself, leaving him with only one son, a child he treasured like the apple of his eye. The youngest son is stationed in Mobei, unable to return to the capital. The Queen Mother summons this grandson to the capital every few years. If anything were to happen to him, the Queen Mother would be heartbroken.

"Your Majesty, I have brought them into the palace. They are just outside. Please bring them in quickly!" Jiang Zhixu shouted to the Jinyiwei outside. After a while, two people who were tied up tightly were brought in.

Emperor Song spotted Song Chengjiao at a glance, and rushed forward to check on him. He was relieved to see that he was just unconscious and not seriously injured.

"Your Majesty, please call the imperial physician to see him. The doctors in my household are no match for the imperial physician!"

"Call the imperial physician!" Emperor Song turned around and shouted to Eunuch Guo, who quickly went down to call the imperial physician.

Then, Emperor Song's gaze fell on the prince, and his face instantly turned gloomy.

Seeing him looking at another person, Jiang Zhixu quickly explained, "This is the crown prince of Dong Jinguo. He was rescued together with Song Chengjiao, and he also poisoned Song Chengjiao with the Tongsheng Gu!"

The Song Emperor snorted coldly, "Well, you are so bold! You actually dare to play tricks in the court of the Great Song Dynasty!"

At this moment, Song Chengjiao slowly regained consciousness and, upon seeing the Emperor, struggled to bow. The Emperor quickly supported him and, concerned, inquired about the pursuit. Song Chengjiao recounted the entire story, and the Emperor, listening, fell into deep thought, believing there must be some hidden story behind this.

"Uncle Huang, please send a message to my father. He must be worried sick. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have been so playful!"

The emperor smiled and tapped his forehead: "Do you know you're wrong? Your father and mother must be so worried!"

Song Chengjiao stuck out his tongue playfully, stood up, and tried to please the emperor.

The emperor angrily shook off the hand that was holding his arm.

"Lock up the Crown Prince first. I will investigate this matter thoroughly!" The Song Emperor ordered with a stern look on his face. Jiang Zhixu accepted the order and was about to leave when the Song Emperor said, "Jiang Zhixu, you have done a good job on this matter. I will not treat you unfairly."

After Jiang Zhixu expressed his gratitude, he led his men out of Longchen Hall, secretly glad that the troublesome matter had been temporarily resolved.
