Jingguang Temple
The eldest princess was in the meditation room, reverently sitting on a cushion and chanting. Behind her, Jiang Zhixu lifted his robe and knelt down to greet her:
"Greetings, grandma." Jiang Zhixu looked up at the eldest princess.
"Oh! Brother Xu, didn't I tell you not to come here again?"
"Grandma, we're worried about you. If you don't let us come, my wife and the third son and his wife will listen to you and not disturb you, but that won't stop us from fulfilling our filial duties. Here, these are the tonic pills my wife bought for you at a great price."
Jiang Zhixu reached out to help the princess up and handed the medicine in his hand to her. The princess looked at the medicine, sighed helplessly, took the medicine and put it aside, holding Jiang Zhixu's hand and said:
"You are too honest, child. I am fine in Jingguang Temple, don't worry too much."
Jiang Zhixu smiled and said, "Grandma, you've been so kind to us, so of course we'll keep you in our hearts. Although life in this temple is hard, it's good to have these tonic pills to nourish our bodies."
Jiang Zhixu told the princess everything that had happened in the Duke's Mansion in recent days.
"Alas! It's not easy for your grandmother. She has worked hard for her eldest grandson all her life, but in the end, this is the result." The eldest princess sighed. It was all for her children and grandchildren!
"By the way, grandma, the third daughter-in-law is pregnant and is almost three months pregnant." Jiang Zhixu quickly changed the subject, trying to make the eldest princess happy.
"Oh? Really? This is really good news. This is a great event for the Duke's Mansion."
The eldest princess smiled with relief. "Xu Ge'er, you must have the third son take good care of his wife and let her give birth to the child safely."
Jiang Zhixu nodded and replied, "Don't worry, Grandma. My wife and I will take good care of her. By the way, Grandma, the situation in the court is unpredictable now, and there are more and more people with evil intentions in various countries."
The eldest princess's expression straightened, and after a moment's thought, she said, "I heard that the late emperor left behind a concubine, and the military token should be in his possession. You can check in that direction."
"So the late emperor gave this military token to his concubine?"
"I'm not too sure, but since this army was given to him, it's very likely that it's with him." The eldest princess was also hesitant.
Jiang Zhixu frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "Grandmother, I will send someone to secretly search for the whereabouts of this concubine. However, there are undercurrents in the court right now. If the military token is really in his hands, I'm afraid it will cause a fight among all parties."
The princess gently patted Jiang Zhixu's hand and said, "Xu'er, you have always been prudent and cautious. Please pay more attention to this matter. If you can find the military token, it will be a help to you. But you must not act too hastily, so as not to alert the enemy."
Jiang Zhixu nodded in agreement, "Don't worry, Grandma. I will act with caution. If we do find the military token, we must keep it safe and not let it fall into the hands of those with ill intentions."
The princess nodded slightly, a hint of worry in her eyes. "The situation is complicated now, and various forces are ready to make moves. You must be careful in the court and don't let others plot against you."
Jiang Zhixu said firmly, "Grandmother, I will handle this carefully. I will definitely protect the Duke's Mansion and do my best to maintain the stability of the court."
After saying that, Jiang Zhixu chatted with the princess for a while before getting up to say goodbye.
Imperial Palace
Dragon Palace
The commander of the Imperial Guards, Zhan Jue, the deputy commander, Han Yong, the commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, Mu Tiankui, and the deputy commander, Jiang Zhixu, lifted their robes and knelt on the ground, standing respectfully before the dragon table of Emperor Song.
Emperor Song's face was solemn. He slowly raised his hand to signal them to stand up and said in a deep voice:
"How are your preparations? We must ensure that everything is foolproof and not give them any chance to escape."
The four of them agreed in unison and stood up. Zhan Jue took a step forward, clasped his hands together, and said loudly:
"Your Majesty, everything is ready."
"Well, this time I must find out exactly how many people from Dong Jinguo have come. I absolutely do not believe that they will not come out in full force to rescue the prince."
The Song Emperor's eyes were cold and imposing, showing his majesty as an emperor and his disdain for the world.
Mu Tiankui trembled with fear and said cautiously:
"Your Majesty, the capital city is not a good place to set up a trap. If you alert the envoys from other countries, things might get out of hand."
"Do you have any good ideas, my dear minister?" Emperor Song stared at Mu Tiankui with a sharp gaze.
Mu Tiankui hurriedly said, "Your Majesty, we can set up an ambush at the mountain villa outside the capital. The terrain here is steep and easy to hide troops. If Dong Jinguo's men come to rescue the prince, they will definitely pass through this place. Our army can surprise them and attack them when they are unprepared."
The Song Emperor stroked his chin, contemplating for a moment. Jiang Zhixu also stepped forward and said, "Your Majesty, Lord Mu's plan is excellent. However, the Dong Jin Kingdom is cunning and may send a small force to test our strategy. Our army should deploy more decoys to be on the safe side."
Emperor Song nodded and said, "As you said, this operation must succeed, not fail."
"By the way, the Crown Prince Dong Jinguo and Song Chengjiao have been poisoned by the same life poison. No matter what happens, the Crown Prince must not die." Emperor Song glanced at them and gave a solemn order.
Zhan Jue and Han Yong took the order and left to deploy the troops, while Mu Tiankui and Jiang Zhixu went to arrange spies to closely monitor the every move of Dong Jinguo's envoy.
Dark clouds gathered over the capital, and a storm seemed to be approaching, but an unusually warm atmosphere permeated the Duke of Zhenguo's Mansion.
In the small study in the third room, Jin Linlin and Cao Jiao were concentrating on writing "The Art of War". Both of them seemed to be having a hard time copying it, and they were stumbling.
Jin Linlin bit the tip of her pen tightly, her face shrouded in a cloud of worry. She lamented, "I remember so little of 'The Art of War'. A lot of the content is already blurry."
