Chapter 70 Entrustment

Second bedroom

Jin Linlin was sitting at the desk, concentrating on writing a letter to Jiang Zhixu.

Suddenly she heard a stumbling sound of footsteps. She looked up and saw Cao Jiao slowly walking into the room.

Jin Linlin was startled and quickly stood up and walked over to support Cao Jiao's shaky body, asking with concern:

"What are you doing here? You've injured yourself during this birth. You need to stay in bed for two full months to recuperate. Otherwise, it will be difficult to recover later."

When Cao Jiao heard Jin Linlin's words, it seemed as if the softest part of her heart was touched. She suddenly hugged Jin Linlin and burst into tears like a child.

Jin Linlin was somewhat bewildered by this sudden scene. She gently patted Cao Jiao's back:

"Don't cry, don't cry. You can't shed tears during the confinement period. It's bad for your eyes. Did your third brother bully you? Tell me and I'll help you teach him a lesson!"

Cao Jiao sobbed as she told Jin Linlin what had happened in fragments. The more Jin Linlin listened, the more serious her expression became.

When she heard that Xiaobao had been kidnapped, her eyes widened in shock. "Oh my god, Xiaobao was kidnapped? Such a young child, he must have suffered so much!"

Jin Linlin was extremely worried. She paced back and forth in the room, anxiously thinking about what to do. Suddenly, she stopped and looked at Cao Jiao kneeling on the ground, her heart aching.

Cao Jiao tightly grasped Jin Linlin's arms as she tried to help her up, and said with a firm look in her eyes:

"Linlin, I've made up my mind. I'm going to find Xiaobao. The journey will be full of dangers and a near-fatal risk, but I don't care. Even if there's only a glimmer of hope, I'm going to give it a try.

I feel sorry for Dabao. I hand him over to you. Please help me take good care of him. I will kowtow to you here and repay your kindness by working like a slave in my next life."

Cao Jiao knelt on the ground and kowtowed hard.

Jin Linlin quickly helped her up and wiped the tears from her face:

"Don't worry, I will treat him like my own son, do everything myself, and never let him suffer any grievances."

Jin Linlin hugged her with trembling hands. When she was about to go find Rounu, she grabbed Cao Jiao and bought a lot of medicine from the electronic pharmacy with her eyes closed:

"Here are Gu-absorbing incense, rejuvenation pills, tonic pills, and detoxification pills. You should know the miraculous effects of my medicine. If the child is found, give him the rejuvenation pills to make him strong and healthy."

Three bedrooms

Cao Jiao put on a neat men's suit, picked up the sword and poisonous insect on the table, raised her head with a fierce look in her eyes.

She strode towards the door. Jin Linlin looked at her back, her heart full of worry, but she also knew that it was useless to say anything at this moment.

As Cao Jiao walked out of the room, she was stopped by Jiang Shuyan. Jiang Shuyan frowned, his eyes full of heartache and worry:

"Why are you doing this? You haven't recovered yet, and there are many dangers out there. How can you do this alone?"

Cao Jiao stopped and looked at Jiang Shuyan: "Xiaobao is my child, I can't watch him suffer. You don't need to persuade me, I have made up my mind."

Jiang Shuyan sighed helplessly: "Have you ever thought about me and Dabao? If something happens to you, what will happen to the two of us?"

Cao Jiao glanced at Jiang Shuyan guiltily:

"If I don't come back within a year, you can marry someone else and Dabao will be left to you."

Jiang Shuyan's eyes were red, and he held her hand tightly: "I don't want you to take risks. Let's find a way together. There must be other ways to find Xiaobao."

Cao Jiao broke free from his hand, speaking decisively and sternly, "There's no time. Xiaobao has no idea what he's suffering out there. You know my kung fu, plus my immense strength, and with the medicine Linlin gave me, I'll be fine."

Seeing how determined she was, Jiang Shuyan knew he couldn't persuade her, so he gritted his teeth and said, "Then I'll go with you."

Cao Jiao was startled, then shook her head: "You still have Dabao to take care of, and the family can't do without you."

Jiang Shuyan, however, said with a determined look, "I'm worried about you being alone. Dabao has my second sister-in-law to help take care of him. I will definitely accompany you to find Xiaobao."

Cao Jiao felt warm in her heart, but still refused:

"They only want me. You don't know martial arts, so you'll lose your life in vain if you go."

The two looked at each other, and Cao Jiao went towards Rounu's yard. Not long after, the two of them left the Duke of Zhenguo's Mansion.

After Cao Jiao left, the entire mansion became unusually quiet, as if it had lost all life. Jin Linlin also felt an unspeakable emptiness and loneliness in her heart.

Despite her heavy heart, Jin Linlin never forgot her responsibilities. She meticulously cared for Dabao every day, ensuring he was well. She also kept a close eye on every movement in the mansion, not missing a single incident.

Meanwhile, the war on the front lines was going remarkably smoothly. Two-thirds of Dongjin's territory had been successfully incorporated into Dagan's territory, undoubtedly a huge victory. Upon hearing this good news, the Song Emperor on the front lines immediately sent a letter to the King of Jin, urging him to hold the imperial examinations early.

Because the newly conquered city urgently needed a large number of officials to manage it, the court had no choice but to issue an imperial decree to move up the originally scheduled spring imperial examination by a month. As soon as this news spread, the entire capital was in an uproar, and the streets and alleys could be seen with the busy figures of students heading to the capital to take the exam.

In such a lively atmosphere, Jin Linlin was teasing Dabao when a servant suddenly ran over and reported: "Madam, there's news from the palace that the Zhenguogong Mansion is sending someone to the palace."

Upon hearing this news, Jin Linlin's heart suddenly tightened. She didn't know what this sudden summons meant, but her intuition told her it was definitely not a small matter. She quickly settled Xiaobao and hurried to the palace.
