Second bedroom
Three months into Jin Linlin's pregnancy, Jialiu returned from the front line and brought back a letter from Jiang Zhixu.
When Jin Linlin heard the news, her heart was filled with joy and anticipation. She couldn't wait to take the letter, her hands trembling slightly, as if the letter carried the endless thoughts and concerns between her and Jiang Zhixu.
She carefully opened the envelope and unfolded the letter paper, and Jiang Zhixu's familiar and gentle handwriting immediately came into her sight.
Every word in the letter was like a warm current flowing through Jin Linlin's heart.
In the letter, Jiang Zhixu expressed his deep concern for her and the unborn child, and his words revealed his attachment to and sense of responsibility for his family.
The letter also mentioned that Mr. Jin personally went to the military camp and delivered a large amount of military supplies to the soldiers. After learning the news of Jin Linlin's pregnancy, the old man was overjoyed and full of anticipation for the upcoming new life.
In addition, Jiang Zhixu told Jin Linlin in a letter that the war was gradually stabilizing and that he would return home in good time. This was undoubtedly the greatest comfort to Jin Linlin, and filled her with hope for the future.
Jin Linlin read Jiang Zhixu's letter over and over again, the corners of her mouth rose unconsciously, and her eyes sparkled with happiness.
At the same time, Jia Liu was sitting on the armchair nearby, sharing with Jin Linlin what he saw and heard on the battlefield.
Compared to before, Jialiu's skin color has become noticeably darker, but his mental state is very good and he talks incessantly.
He excitedly described the fierce fighting on the battlefield, his brave comrades and various thrilling experiences, with a bright light in his eyes. It was obvious that he felt that this trip to the front line was worthwhile.
Jin Linlin listened to Jialiu's story with a smile, occasionally interjecting to ask for details. When Jialiu mentioned that he had deliberately left ten people to record the stories on the battlefield, Jin Linlin nodded in agreement.
"Madam, I think these ten people should be enough to write a wonderful war documentary." Jialiu said confidently.
"Well, you arranged it very well." Jin Linlin responded with a smile. "By the way, how is the newspaper branch going?"
Jialiu immediately sat up straight and reported to Jin Linlin on the progress of the branch offices. He told Jin Linlin that fifty branches had been established across the country and everything was ready, just waiting for the grand opening.
Jin Linlin expressed satisfaction with the work results of Jialiu, and she believed that these branches would bring more valuable news and information to people.
"Then you'll have to work hard these next few days, running around to various branches."
Jia Liu Jia Liu patted his chest and said confidently, "Don't worry, Madam. This won't be a problem for me. I will ensure that all branches open smoothly and pass on the stories of the battlefield."
As she was speaking, the maid ran in hurriedly, "Madam, the Third Master is waiting outside."
Jin Linlin frowned slightly. Is there something wrong with the third brother? But she still replied, "I know. Let him in."
He turned to Jialiu and said, "Go and arrange the opening of the branch office first. Report any developments at any time."
Jia Liu took the order and left. Jiang Shuyan came in with an untidy beard. Jin Linlin frowned:
"What's wrong with you?"
Jiang Shuyan knelt down with a thud, his eyes red:
"Sister-in-law, I'm really worried about Jiaojiao's safety! If something happens to her, I'm afraid I'll have no hope for the rest of my life." Jiang Shuyan said with a worried look on his face.
Jin Linlin rolled her eyes upon hearing this and said unhappily, "Why, you two are the ones who are making me kneel alone, right?"
Jiang Shuyan quickly explained, "Sister-in-law, don't be angry. I have already submitted a petition to the court requesting to be transferred to the front line to serve as a prefect."
When Jin Linlin heard this, her eyes widened, she looked at Jiang Shuyan in disbelief and shouted at him:
"Are you crazy? You're a high-ranking official of the third rank! The prefect is only a fourth-rank official, how could he be demoted like you? Besides, you're a Beijing official now, so many people are vying to stay in the capital!"
Jin Linlin was really angry and helpless. She couldn't understand why Jiang Shuyan had become a third-rank official at such a young age, which was something that people envied in the capital, but he didn't care about it at all and insisted on going to the front line to find Jiaojiao.
Jiang Shuyan stiffened his neck and said without flinching, "Sister-in-law, I don't care about that! I just know Jiaojiao is alone at the front, and I'm really worried about her. I must go to the front to find her and ensure her safety."
Jin Linlin was so angry that she kept shaking her head. She felt that Jiang Shuyan was simply confused. The war on the front line was unstable and the situation was turbulent. How could a weak scholar like him help?
If something were to happen to him, what would happen to the Duke of Zhenguo's Mansion? And what about his child Dabao?
Jiang Shuyan's eyes were filled with tears. "Sister-in-law, I know you're doing this for my own good, but I really can't bear to watch Jiaojiao suffer on the front lines. I'll go. Even if I can't be of much help, at least I can be close to her."
Jin Linlin looked at him like this, feeling both angry and helpless. After a moment's thought, she sighed and said, "Never mind. Since you've made up your mind, I won't stop you. But when you get to the front lines, you must be careful about everything and never act rashly."
"Sister-in-law, I'm leaving Dabao in your care. We are really not qualified parents." He said with a guilty look on his face.
Faced with his words, she didn't know how to respond for a moment. After a moment of silence, she finally spoke:
"Don't worry, Dabao, I will take good care of him. He is also pitiful, having to meet parents like you." As she said this, Jin Linlin glared at him fiercely, her eyes full of blame and dissatisfaction.
