Jin Linlin and her group galloped non-stop all the way until the sun set and night fell. They finally stopped behind a slope and set up camp.
Jin Linlin sat exhaustedly on a large rock in the center of the camp. She was surrounded by a group of people, led by Mo Ren.
Behind him followed nine secret guards of the Mo generation, as well as three puppet pills, Chunxue Qiuyu and the main generals of the 30,000 troops.
Jin Linlin personally named these three puppets: Jinri, Jinyue, and Jinnian. They remained expressionless, like statues, guarding Jin Linlin in a triangular formation.
Jin Linlin's eyes fell on a whole lamb being roasted in front of her. The lamb was sizzling with oil and exuding an enticing aroma, which made her swallow her saliva.
"Mo Ren, tell me what you heard." Jin Linlin said, a hint of urgency in her voice.
Mo Ren pursed his lips after hearing this, and then said:
"Master, according to the information I have gathered, the Prince of Linhai and the Prince of Ning have indeed rebelled against the imperial court and declared themselves kings. Furthermore, the prince did go to Ningzhou a few days ago and brought back a girl, who is said to be his new concubine."
As soon as Mo Ren finished speaking, everyone around him fell silent, and the entire camp instantly became utterly silent. Everyone looked at each other, feeling a little uneasy.
They originally thought that this was just a lie made up by Prince Jin in order to get Jin Linlin, but they didn't expect it to be true.
Jin Linlin's face turned extremely ugly, and her heart was filled with disappointment and pain. She could never have imagined that her husband and best friend would betray her and do such a thing.
"Master, are we still going to Linhaizhou?"
Mo Yi asked softly with a worried look on his face, a hint of uneasiness and hesitation in his voice.
Chunxue turned around and glanced at Jin Linlin, only to see that she had her eyes tightly closed, seemingly lost in thought about something important.
So, Chunxue turned around silently and shook his head gently at Mo Yi.
However, at this moment, Mo Yi suddenly said:
"Master, I have also heard shocking news. The capital has fallen, and the Song royal family has been slaughtered!"
These words were like a bolt from the blue, causing Jin Linlin to suddenly open her eyes.
"What? The capital fell and the royal family was massacred!"
Jin Linlin's voice unconsciously rose an octave, her fists clenched tightly, her knuckles turning slightly white from excessive force.
"Where are the others?" she asked anxiously, her heart filled with worry for those innocent lives.
Mo Ren slowly lowered his head and replied in a heavy tone:
"Although these rebels claim to be an army, they are in reality no more than bandits. They commit murder, looting, and all manner of evil. Only a few have escaped, and most are likely to die."
After hearing this, Jin Linlin's expression grew increasingly serious. She stood up and paced back and forth in the room, her thoughts surging like a tidal wave.
"Now that the capital has been lost, the world is in chaos!" Jin Linlin muttered to herself, her brows furrowed tightly as if water could be squeezed out of them.
Seeing this, Chunxue couldn't help but say worriedly, "Master, given the current situation, what should we do from now on?"
Jin Linlin stopped and was silent for a moment. She turned to Mo Ren and said:
"Mo Ren, give me the map." Upon hearing this, Mo Ren hurriedly reached into his sleeve, carefully took out the map, and then handed it to Jin Linlin respectfully.
Jin Linlin stared at the map with a sharp gaze, as if she wanted to see the true appearance of Cangwu City through the thin paper.
Her finger gently fell on the map, accurately pointing to the location of Cangwu City.
"Let's do it here." Jin Linlin's voice was calm and firm.
"Jin Ri, Mo Ren, the two of you will lead 20,000 troops tomorrow to capture this city. I want this place to be our stronghold, so we can get our share of the spoils in this chaotic world."
Chunxue stood aside, a worried look on her face, and couldn't help but interrupt, "Master, although Cangwu City is strategically important, its defenses are also quite tight. With only 20,000 soldiers, I'm afraid..."
Jin Linlin smiled slightly and interrupted Chunxue. "That's alright, I'll make my own arrangements." She turned her gaze towards Jin Ri and Mo Ren and continued:
"When you go, hold your troops still for now. I will have Jin Yue and Jin Nian create chaos in the city. We can use this chaos to attack the city, which will surely achieve twice the result with half the effort."
Jin Ri and Mo Ren exchanged a glance and replied in unison, "As you command!"
Jin Linlin nodded with satisfaction, then turned her gaze to the other generals.
"The remaining ten thousand soldiers will follow me from the rear. If the siege goes smoothly, we will quickly enter the city and strengthen the defenses. If anything unexpected happens, you will immediately support the front."
All the generals clasped their fists in unison and said loudly, "We will obey the master's orders!"
As the night deepened, a blazing bonfire lit up in the camp. Jin Linlin stood quietly beside it, gazing at the dancing flames, her mind awash with thoughts.
In this chaotic world, she must rely on her wisdom and courage to gain a firm foothold in Cangwu City, and then realize her grand ambitions step by step, making those who betrayed her pay the price.
After everything was arranged, everyone rested, gathered their strength, and prepared to attack the city tomorrow.
Cangwu City
Cangwu City is surrounded by towering walls on three sides and backed by Black Mountain, which rises high into the clouds. The walls are covered with soldiers who are watching the outside of the city vigilantly.
The city gate was heavily guarded, with patrols moving back and forth. Meanwhile, Jin Linlin's 20,000 troops had quietly settled in ambush not far outside the city.
