Ningzhou
The morning sun shone on the city gate. Cao Jiao and Jiang Shuyan stood there, having been waiting for a long time. They were both excited and nervous because Dabao was going back to Ningzhou today.
"I thought Linlin wouldn't let Dabao come back so easily." Jiang Shuyan held Cao Jiao's hand tightly, as if this could make him calm down a little.
Cao Jiao nodded. She also felt that Jin Linlin might be dissatisfied with them. After all, their relationship with Jin Linlin was a bit complicated.
"Second sister-in-law might really have some grievances against us. She sent so many people to escort Dabao, but she didn't even give us a letter."
Cao Jiao sighed. She didn't know how to ease the relationship with Jin Linlin.
Jiang Shuyan comforted him, "Maybe she was just worried about Dabao's safety, so she sent so many people to escort him. Although she had complaints about us, she didn't take it out on Dabao, which shows that she still loves Dabao very much."
As the two were talking, a cloud of dust suddenly rose in the distance. Looking closely, they saw Jiang Jingxing riding a tall horse, leading a group of guards, galloping towards the city gate.
Cao Jiao and Jiang Shuyan's gazes were instantly captivated, their heartbeats involuntarily quickening. As Jiang Jingxing drew closer, they finally saw his face clearly, a flicker of surprise in their eyes.
Jiang Jingxing saw his parents at the city gate and a smile of surprise appeared on his face. He whipped his horse as fast as he could and rushed to Cao Jiao and Jiang Shuyan like a gust of wind. Then he dismounted and ran to them.
When he got closer, he dismounted, knelt on his knees, and said in a clear voice:
"Dad, Mom, my son is back."
Cao Jiao's eyes were red. She quickly stepped forward to help him up, looked him up and down, and said distressedly: "It's good that you're back. You must have had a hard time along the way."
Jiang Shuyan also patted his shoulder excitedly. Dabao was stronger and taller than Erbao. You could tell at a glance that he was living well. He didn't look tired even though he was exhausted from the journey.
Jiang Jingxing looked at his parents, his heart filled with warmth. Although he felt a little reserved, he was mostly filled with joy. The guards unloaded the luggage and turned to leave. Jiang Shuyan took Jiang Jingxing and the others back to the mansion.
Along the way, Jiang Jingxing looked at the streets of Ningzhou curiously, and the family of three returned to the palace happily.
Cao Jiao busied herself with preparing the meal. The family sat together. Although still somewhat unfamiliar, the warmth of family affection permeated the air. Jiang Jingxing gradually relaxed and began to share his experiences on the road with his parents.
