The pillow rolled at his feet, but Ji Wenxu had no time to care about it. He could only stare at his sister blankly, almost unable to breathe.
Because she threw the pillow, she sat up and her soft black hair fell in front of her shoulders, sticking to her slender white neck. The contrast between the dark and light colors was particularly strong.
She was so spoiled that she got very angry because she didn't want to take the medicine, and her face turned slightly red.
Her dark eyes looked at people with a hint of anger, but when she saw clearly that it was him, she was confused for a moment. It was so easy to understand, and so cute.
When her gaze passed by, Ji Wenxu felt as if something was real, and his whole body trembled as if it was burned by fire.
He lowered his head in a hurry, very deeply, for fear of showing something that should not be shown.
"Why is it you?" After seeing who it was, Yu Huan asked with a frown.
“…” Ji Wenxu didn’t say anything.
"Why don't you speak?" Yu Huan tilted his head.
"You've been sick for several days, so of course I have to come and see you." The boy said in a clear voice. He bent down to pick up the soft pillow and put it aside.
"I'm used to it." Yu Huan leaned back on the bed, bored, when he suddenly noticed some food on the low table beside the couch. He leaned forward and asked, "What is that?"
Ji Wenxu didn't answer, but raised his eyebrows slightly. He moved the low table to a place where she could reach it and let her see it for herself.
Sugar-roasted chestnuts, rock sugar persimmons, and a bowl of sweet tofu pudding with brown sugar.
These were things Yu Huan hadn't eaten for a long time, and she really wanted them.
Especially now, her mouth felt bitter and nauseous.
Seeing this, I felt alive.
"Give it to me quickly, I want to eat." She stretched out her hand anxiously, not even caring that Ji Wenxu was looking at her.
The sweet tofu pudding melts in your mouth, and the taste is so dreamy that it is no exaggeration to describe it.
She sat on the edge of the couch eating tofu pudding, her slender white fingers holding the spoon, afraid of spilling it on the couch, so she opened her mouth so wide that her face was about to puff up.
The snow-white feet stepped on the bedding, and the toes were round and cute.
Ji Wenxu glanced at her, blinked a few times, and looked up at her eating as if nothing had happened.
"Chestnuts are delicious too," he said.
"Well, that's too much trouble." She only glanced at it and continued eating her tofu pudding. Her voice was slurred, as soft and sweet as the tofu pudding she was eating. "I still have to peel it. They'll be back before I can eat it."
Ji Wenxu picked up the chestnut and peeled the shell with his fingers, which he washed in advance every time he came.
Then he helped her peel the candied persimmons.
Finally, before the little maid came back, I ate a layer of sweet tofu pudding, two soft, sweet chestnuts, and a spoonful of candied persimmons.
"Miss, the old lady asked me to give you the osmanthus oil for washing your hair. It was specially purchased from the south." The little maid came in through the curtain.
Ji Wenxu had just finished cleaning up the mess, hid the food, and put the low table back.
She had just recovered from a serious illness, and if her mother and others knew that she ate the wrong food, she would definitely get a lecture.
Yu let out a sigh of joy, met Ji Wenxu's smiling gaze, and then looked away as if nothing had happened.
She didn't do anything.
However, in the end, Ji Wenxu became an accomplice. It seemed that a little secret had emerged between the two of them.
"This is for you." He handed Yu Huan a sachet.
Yu Huan opened it and took out a peach wood carved amulet.
"They say peach wood brings safety, but I don't know if that's true or not. You can just put it anywhere, and who knows what might happen to it."
His voice was clear and he spoke in a relaxed manner. He did not mention at all that he had gone out in the wind and snow and walked a long way to get it from the monk.
He just did what he wanted to do, just to satisfy his own desires, why would he seek credit for it?
Yu Huan took a look at it and placed it on the bedside.
No matter how warm the room is, if you stay in it for a long time, you will feel bored. Ji Wenxu thought she might be bored and wanted to stay here to accompany her.
Yu Huan had been lying in bed for several days and really wanted someone to talk to her.
The maids made tea.
It was brewed for Ji Wenxu. Yu Huan was taking medicine and couldn't drink tea, so he could only hold the cup to warm his hands.
The lingering heat made their brows and eyes relaxed, and that day they talked a lot aimlessly.
Yu Huan has a lot of weird ideas in his head, and if he talks about them on a normal day, it will just seem weird to people.
I didn't expect that I could listen to Ji Wen Xu so interestingly.
Those were things he had never thought about.
He just felt that his sister, who had so many ideas, was like a fairy in the sky. She was frail, but she understood the world and had an attitude of tolerance and compassion towards all things.
His eyes were warm and bright.
Yu Huan didn't think he had said anything shocking, but his eyes flashed for a moment, and he subconsciously wanted to drink some water to relieve the pain.
The rim of the cup was about to touch his lips when a hand stopped him firmly.
He was afraid that the sudden reminder would startle her, so he held her hand before speaking: "You can't drink."
Yu Huan then remembered.
.
Since then, the two have become much more familiar with each other.
However, the real ice was broken when Yu Huan once again revealed a flaw.
She seldom went out, so reading became her main pleasure. The two bookshelves in the warm room, carved with golden nanmu patterns and decorated with wintersweet patterns, were both packed with books.
There are all kinds of books, including travel notes, scientific examination books, daily records, poems, chess manuals... and of course there are more various storybooks.
