Chapter 68: Turning the tide

Zuo You and Jiang Chen sat together on the second floor, looking down at the scene on the first floor.

People kept coming in from the first floor. They were all dressed in suits and had serious expressions on their faces. When they met each other, they just nodded and stood aside silently.

It was quiet downstairs. In the dead silence, another turbulent power transfer in the capital was about to take place here.

Zuo You even saw Lin Caiwei in the crowd. She used to always wear a dazzling red dress, but today she wore something very simple and elegant, although it still did not hide her beautiful face.

Lin Caiwei stood next to Fu Yaoyao and Sun Lihua. The three of them were talking happily and behaving intimately, and their relationship seemed very close.

Why does Lin Caiwei know Sun Lihua and Fu Yaoyao?!

Zuo You suddenly had a bad feeling.

However, the reality did not allow her to think too much. Zuo You's buttocks became numb after sitting on the floor for a long time, and she was unable to move. It felt like her poor buttocks had been numb for two rounds, as if countless ants were crawling on it.

Suddenly, her eyes lit up and she subconsciously wanted to get up, only to find that she couldn't move her wrists and ankles at all.

A handsome young man strolled in from the doorway. His figure was straight and handsome, like a pine or bamboo, the type that stood out from the crowd. While he wore a suit, unlike the others' formal, old-fashioned attire, the cut was casual and relaxed. He also accessorized it with a cotton and linen scarf, draped over his clothes, making him look like a male model in a magazine.

That person has a strong aura and should not be underestimated. Wherever he goes, he seems to be a natural protagonist and people can notice him at a glance.

It was undoubtedly Fu Shenzhi.

Needless to say, the two men following behind Fu Shenzhi were the frizzy-haired Xu Zisheng and the stern-looking Mu Chuan.

After the three of them calmly walked into the living room, the atmosphere inside suddenly dropped. Everyone present exchanged knowing glances, but no one spoke first.

Zuo You on the second floor had bright eyes, and her gaze kept following Fu Shenzhi, refusing to move away even an inch.

Jiang Chen noticed Zuo You's expression, and his eyes dimmed. He chewed his gum twice in anger and said viciously, "Just wait, he won't be so proud for long!"

He wanted Zuo You to watch Fu Shenzhi fall into the mud and never get up again!

After a while, everyone seemed to have arrived. They were whispering to each other, and the rustling sound seemed to become louder.

Zuo You was on the second floor, unable to hear what they were saying, so she just sat there anxiously. Suddenly, Zuo You found that the soreness and weakness that had been holding her hands and feet seemed to have subsided a little, and if she exerted force, she could even move her fingers with some effort.

Zuo You continued to watch the scene on the first floor in silence.

As the noise gradually grew louder, Fu Jianhua, who had been sitting on the sofa, stood up, coughed, and seemed to announce some news. The whole audience fell silent again.

Zuo You could barely make out what Fu Jianhua said by his lip movements: Lawyer, let’s start now.

A man wearing gold-rimmed glasses and a refined suit strode out from the crowd, holding a file bag in his hand. When everyone saw him coming, their eyes were all focused on the file bag in his hand.

His eyes were as fierce as those of a wolf or a tiger, and he wanted to snatch the file bag and open it on the spot to take a look.

The lawyer was not in a hurry. He coughed. He wore a headset to ensure that the sound could reach every corner of the living room, so Zuo You on the second floor could also hear what the lawyer said.

The lawyer first made some simple and boring opening remarks, which basically said that the Fu Group was a joint-stock company and that regulations required the CEO to be replaced every ten years. The president of each round of elections was elected by the company's board of directors from among the candidates, and the more shares a person held, the more weight his vote carried.

Everyone was waiting anxiously, wishing they could skip the prelude and announce the results right away.

The lawyer finished his opening remarks slowly before continuing, "On x/x/x/x Beijing time, we held this term change. I was invited and entrusted with this task. The file in my hand is the result of the board's vote."

The lawyer held up the file bag, indicating that it was intact and showed no signs of being opened. "I will open this bag and announce the results right here and now. Please join me as a witness."

The whole place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Zuo You also subconsciously held her breath. Jiang Chen was already impatient and stared at the downstairs with burning eyes.

The lawyer slowly tore open the file bag, took out the letter inside, saw the name, and said calmly: "Congratulations, Mr. Fu Shenzhi."

Zuo You felt like her heart was hanging in the air just now. From the moment she heard the man's surname, a huge stone hanging in her heart suddenly fell back to reality.

It hit her so hard that she was terrified and scared out of her wits.

Jiang Chen beside him seemed unwilling to believe his ears. His pupils contracted violently and he kept muttering, "Fu Shenzhi, this is impossible, this is impossible, this must be a mistake... How could this happen?!"

At this moment, Zuo You felt that her wrist seemed to be able to move barely, and she could even touch her pocket.

In her pocket was a small utility knife that she had just bought from the stationery store.

On the first floor, the lawyer read out the final result calmly, just like a drop of water dropped into boiling oil, causing the oil to splash and crackle, frying everyone present and shocking them all.

It really caused a huge uproar.

However, some people seemed to have anticipated the result long ago, and they quickly stood up and bowed to congratulate Fu Shenzhi. Those who were the first to congratulate had beaming faces, and they couldn't contain their smiles.

Some people looked ashen and pale, as if they had aged ten years overnight.
