Chapter 243 Pregnancy

The bridal chamber should have been a night of passion, but Yang Donghu felt uncomfortable with the smell of alcohol. She struggled to break free from Zhao Luochuan's arms, covering her mouth and nose.

"No, I feel so bad."

"What's wrong?" Zhao Luochuan's eyes were not very clear, and his drunkenness had not completely dissipated.

Yang Donghu waved his hands and wanted to say something but didn't. Suddenly, he felt his stomach churning. He quickly got out of bed and couldn't help but dry heave a few times. He had hardly eaten anything today and now he couldn't vomit anything.

Zhao Luochuan was brought back to his senses by these calls. He quickly walked over to him and patted him on the back. "What's wrong with you? Did the sudden change in weather cause you to catch a cold again?"

Yang Donghu has been doing moxibustion continuously and he feels much better now. He no longer feels cold and drafty. Normally, he didn't feel so uncomfortable during the change of seasons before, but now that he has taken care of his body, it's even worse.

The two of them had not had time to change out of their wedding clothes. Seeing that he was in great discomfort, Zhao Luochuan took off the cumbersome wedding clothes and changed Yang Donghu into light casual clothes, then helped him back to bed.

"If you feel uncomfortable, just lie down for a while. I'll find a doctor for you."

Yang Donghu thought it was a minor problem and was about to shake his head, but as soon as he moved his head, he felt nauseous again. He couldn't say anything and could only nod.

Nothing was accomplished on the wedding night. Yang Donghu felt a little sorry for the red wedding dress. The quilt was so comfortable that before he had time to feel sorry for it, he closed his eyes in deep thought.

The old lady was too old to be distracted. She had been making a fuss all day, so she went to bed early in the room.

The things in the yard had not been cleaned up yet. Although the guests at the banquet brought their families and ate heartily, the Zhao family had prepared so much that there was still a lot of meat and vegetables left over.

Zhu Cuilan and several aunts cleaned up the leftover meat and vegetables under the cover of night, otherwise it would be a waste if the meat was left overnight and became smelly.

They had boiled meatballs at the banquet, and there were still quite a few left. Zhu Cuilan divided the remaining meatballs into several portions and asked the people who came to help to take them back later.

There was too much leftover food, and there were only a few people in their family. Even if they ate as much as they could, it would be difficult to finish it within a few days. It was not yet winter and the meat could not be stored for too long. Instead of throwing away the meat after it became smelly, it would be a pity to share it with others to avoid wasting it.

The old women and girls were busy with their hands, chatting and laughing in low voices. Today, the men in every household drank too much and were drunk and unconscious. They didn't even have time to make a fuss in the bridal chamber.

"Dachuan? Where are you going?" Zhu Cuilan saw him walking in a hurry and was a little curious as to why he ran out for no reason instead of staying in the room to enjoy their wedding night.

"Dong Hu is feeling unwell and seems to be ill. I'm going to find a doctor to see him."

"Are you sick? What's the matter? Go quickly, I'll go into the house and take a look."

The villagers are most afraid of getting sick. When Zhu Cuilan heard this, her face was full of worry. She waved her hand and asked Zhao Luochuan to go quickly. She got up and went into the house to check the situation.

"Dong Hu? What's wrong with you?" Zhu Cuilan sat on the bed and leaned over to touch his forehead. "It's not hot, are you too tired today?"

Yang Donghu shook his head: "It's okay, I just feel like vomiting."

"Feeling like vomiting?" Zhu Cuilan was an experienced person, with more experience than the other two. She had been pregnant herself, and Yang Donghu looked familiar to her. "When did you start feeling nauseous? How many days has it been? Have you eaten anything bad in the meantime?"

"It's been three or four days. I didn't eat anything. I just ate a sour orange and then I felt uncomfortable ever since." Yang Donghu answered honestly.

In order to prepare for the wedding, Yang Donghu stayed at home with Zhao Fangchu these days and never went out. Even Zhao Luochuan went to deliver snacks to the town by himself.

They ate and lived together, so Zhu Cuilan knew that there must be nothing wrong with the food. Then she remembered that Zhao Fangchu had said early this morning that Yang Donghu felt the smell of eggs was fishy. She was delighted and had a guess. The worry on her face faded and was replaced by a smile.

However, the doctor had not arrived yet, so Zhu Cuilan did not express her guess. In case she had misunderstood, it would be fine if she knew it herself. But if she told Yang Donghu and made him happy for nothing, it would be bad.

"You don't look sick. Don't worry. Maybe you're just tired today. You haven't eaten anything. Do you want to eat something?"

Yang Donghu felt a bitter taste in his mouth and wanted to eat something savory, but the thought of the greasiness of the fish made him feel uncomfortable and even more nauseous. After thinking about it, he still felt that sour oranges were delicious.

"Auntie, I want to eat oranges."

The orange was extremely sour. Zhu Cuilan also tasted it. If Yang Donghu had not been in a state where she could not tolerate sour food, there was no way she could have eaten it.

Thinking of this, Zhu Cuilan's smile widened as she tucked the quilt in for him. "I'll ask Fang Chu to make you a bowl of brown sugar water later. Drink some to warm your stomach first, and then you can eat the oranges later."

"Okay." Yang Donghu nodded.

The doctor had just returned from a wedding today. As soon as he sat down at home, he saw the groom coming to look for him in a hurry. He heard that someone in the family was unwell, so the doctor came with him, carrying a medicine box.

It is true that brown sugar water warms the body. Yang Donghu obediently drank the water brought by Zhao Fangchu, and then peeled an orange and put it in his mouth.

The people outside also noticed something and pulled Zhu Cuilan aside and asked hurriedly, "What's going on? Are you pregnant?"

Zhu Cuilan smiled but said nothing, saying that she would make a final decision after the doctor arrived.

None of their guesses here could be counted, but seeing Zhu Cuilan's overjoyed expression, they knew she was probably right.

When the doctor came, Zhu Cuilan welcomed him into the house with a happy face to see the patient. Zhao Luochuan was still a little confused as to why Zhu Cuilan had changed so much since he was away. He couldn't figure it out, so he simply gave up thinking about it. He was worried about Yang Donghu in his heart, so he followed him into the house.

The doctor always looked serious when taking the patient's pulse, making it difficult to tell whether the patient was healthy or not. Yang Donghu felt unsure when he saw his expression.

Zhu Cuilan, who was standing by, saw the doctor withdraw his hand and quickly asked, "Doctor, how is he? Is it a good thing?"

"Congratulations, your family has a double celebration today." The doctor touched the goatee on his chin and congratulated Zhu Cuilan happily.

When her guess came true, Zhu Cuilan couldn't stop smiling and clapped her hands in joy: "Oh, I guessed it right! This is good, this is good."

Zhao Luochuan beside him realized belatedly what they were congratulating each other for. Such a big thing happened to the tall man who was unprepared. He didn't know how to react for a moment, and a worried look was still on his face.

Yang Donghu was not stupid and knew what they were talking about, but his mind was blank and he froze in place.
