Chapter 29 Venting

As soon as I arrived at the village entrance, I could already see smoke rising from the roofs of every household.

Zhao Luochuan fell behind and suddenly stopped. "Brother, tomorrow is my mother's memorial day. I'm going to the Shoucai store to buy some incense and paper. You can take Donghu and Fangchu back first."

Shoucai Store was originally called Shoucai Store, and it was actually a store in the village that sold incense, paper, and wreaths.

Anything related to death makes people feel creepy even if they just say it out loud. The villagers were afraid of bad luck, so they simply gave the child a name with the same pronunciation but different characters.

Zhao Fangyu didn't doubt it and nodded, "Okay, go ahead. Mom must have prepared dinner. Don't delay too long."

Zhao Luochuan hummed, looked at Yang Donghu and said, "You go back first, I'll be back soon."

Yang Donghu pursed his lips and said, "Do you want me to go with you?"

"No, I can go by myself. You go back first, I'll be back soon."

Yang Donghu no longer insisted and followed Zhao Fangyu home.

When the three people disappeared from his sight, Zhao Luochuan turned and headed towards Dayang Village.

Wang Dujuan had just finished cooking, and she asked Yang Dali to carry the table to the yard. It was sunny at noon, and most people would eat in the yard in the sun.

Old Lady Yang was old, and Wang Dujuan couldn't bear to see her sickly appearance, so she didn't want to eat at the same table with her. So she put food in a bowl for the old lady and asked her to eat in the house, saying that this was for her health.

Yang Dali doesn't make the decisions at home, and he doesn't dare to say a word as long as it saves his mother's face.

The meal on the table was simple, just stir-fried cabbage and radish. Wang Dujuan was only generous with her son, Yang Yaoguang; unless he came back from town, there was rarely any meat in the house.

Yang Chunxue was raised to be a picky person and had to eat an egg every day. Wang Dujuan hoped that she would marry into a good family, so she never treated her badly and let her do whatever she wanted.

The food on the table was completely devoid of oil, causing Yang Chunxue to pout and complain, "Mom, this is too plain. At least add some lard. I haven't looked good lately. We haven't had meat in a long time."

"You little bitch, one egg a day isn't enough for you. Your father and I couldn't bear to eat it and left it for you, yet you're still not satisfied. Just make do with it. I'll buy you some meat when I visit your brother someday."

Yang Chunxue felt incredibly unbalanced. The family laid several eggs every day, yet she only got to eat one. Furthermore, she always had to go to town to see Yang Yaoguang before buying him any goodies, and he wasn't the only child in the family. Just wait, when she married Yang Anchen, she could eat whatever she wanted.

Wang Dujuan didn't care whether she was satisfied or not. He was not her son. A girl would belong to someone else when she got married. It would be a waste to give her the food.

The three of them were eating when they heard the door being pushed open forcefully. Wang Dujuan was about to curse out loud, but when she looked closely, she saw that it was Zhao Luochuan, the plague god, and she was so scared that she immediately fell silent.

Her heart was pounding: When did this bastard come back? This was over, he must be here to settle the score.

Zhao Luochuan walked into the room with a dark face. He looked at the three people in front of him who were too frightened to move and sneered, "You still have the mind to eat?"

"What are you doing here? Who let you in?" Wang Dujuan said with confidence.

"Don't you know what I'm here for? Don't you know what you've done? Don't you want money? I'm here to give you some." Zhao Luochuan said as he walked into the yard, took out a tael of silver from his arms and put it on the table.

Yang Dali laughed dryly and pulled Zhao Luochuan to sit down: "My dear nephew, you haven't eaten yet, right? Let's eat something together?"

"Who is your nephew? I'm not here to chat with you today. I have a score to settle. I think it's necessary to settle it." Zhao Luochuan shook off his hand and sat down on the stool.

Wang Dujuan slammed the table, trying to save face, his eyes drifting to the silver coin from time to time: "What's the point of settling scores? Get out of here right now, or don't blame me for being rude."

"Didn't you go to Donghu yesterday to ask for money? You don't have to go there in person. It would be much easier if I could bring it to you. Look, the money is here. Whoever takes it will own it." Zhao Luochuan raised his eyebrows.

Wang Dujuan hesitated for a moment. She knew Zhao Luochuan wouldn't give her money for no reason. He might be looking for something. But the temptation of the silver was too great. She slowly stretched out her hand and actually wanted to take it.

Zhao Luochuan snorted coldly, took out a sharp boning knife from his arms, and threw it hard on the table. The tip of the knife instantly pierced into the table.

Wang Dujuan retracted her hand in an instant and asked in disbelief, "Are you crazy?"

Yang Chunxue screamed in fright, stood up suddenly and ran back to the room.

"Stop! No one is allowed to leave." Zhao Luochuan shouted, stopping Yang Chunxue.

Yang Chunxue turned around tremblingly and ran behind Wang Dujuan in one stride.

"What are you crazy about?" Wang Dujuan was so frightened by the sharp knife that her calves were shaking and she said with trembling lips.

Zhao Luochuan's face was gloomy, and he said in a cold voice: "I said I came here today to settle accounts. Since you have a bad memory, I will help you recall it."

He turned to Yang Dali, who was hunching his shoulders and looking like a weakling, and sneered, "Don't agree to anything you can't decide in the future, so that others won't accuse you of going back on your word. Besides, you wouldn't want to drag your remaining good daughter and son out to burn in the fire pit, right?"

Yang Dali could hear the sarcasm in his words, but he was used to being weak and had long forgotten what resistance meant.

Zhao Luochuan didn't expect him to say anything, so he turned to Wang Dujuan and said, "You've taken so many benefits from my family. For Dong Hu's sake, I won't hold it against you, but you shouldn't have taken the initiative to provoke him. We are family now. Hurting him is hurting me. I have a bad temper and I don't care about useless things like reputation. I have plenty of ways to make your family's life difficult."
