Chapter 66 Asking for help

Zhu Cuilan discussed with her family until midnight and finally decided to find a matchmaker to talk to Yang Anjin first. If Yang Anjin's family was willing to meet, half the deal would be done.

The next morning, Zhu Cuilan took a small basket of country eggs to the matchmaker's house in the village.

The matchmaker in the village was a man named Yun Qiao who had been married for five or six years. He was originally the son of the village chief and had been eloquent since childhood. Not long after he got married, some people thought that since his father was the village chief and knew many good guys and girls, they asked him to help with matchmaking several times.

Any matchmaker with a clever tongue can make the dead come alive, but Yun Qiao is kind-hearted and generous. The husband she married is hardworking and his family owns dozens of acres of fertile land, making him a wealthy family in the village.

So Yunqiao's matchmaking wasn't about making money, but about doing good things for the village. If his matchmaking was successful, and interested families came to see him with gifts, he would happily accept them. If they didn't come, he wouldn't complain.

When Zhu Cuilan arrived, Yunqiao's door was wide open, and she saw Yunqiao sitting in the yard embroidering small shoes at a glance.

"Yunqiao, sit down." Zhu Cuilan first stood at the door and called someone. After Yunqiao looked up and saw her, she stepped into the room.

Yun Qiao was embroidering a shoe pattern with needle and thread in one hand and in the other. When she heard someone calling, she looked up and answered, "Hey, it's Aunt Cuilan. Come in and sit down."

He stood up in an awkward manner. Zhu Cuilan had given birth to a child, so how could she not see that he was pregnant? She quickly stopped Yun Qiao from moving the stool for her, saying happily, "Don't move, don't move. Oh, that's great. You're..."

Zhu Cuilan didn't say the rest of the sentence. Yun Qiao smiled and nodded: "I just found out a few days ago too."

Yun Qiao has a son who is four or five years old this year. If she could have a girl or a boy, it would be a perfect family.

"Then you better be careful with your body and don't do anything strenuous like bending over."

Yun Qiao, who originally wasn't known for her sharp temper, softened even more now: "I remember everything, Auntie, what do you want from me?"

Zhu Cuilan got to the point and looked at Yun Qiao with envy on her face. "You are so lucky. Good things happen to you one after another. I am different. My eldest son is still nowhere to be found. I thought you are good at talking and have good relationships with people, so I wanted you to help mediate."

"This is not a difficult matter. Fang Yu is a good man and it is possible for him to find a good girl. Don't worry too much, auntie. Since you have asked me, there is no reason for me not to help. Which family has Fang Yu chosen?" Yun Qiao said with a smile.

This reassured Zhu Cuilan a little, and she continued, "Thank you in advance, Fang Yu is a sullen and impatient boy. I've shown him two families before, but neither seemed suitable. But recently, I've noticed he seems to be interested in Dayang Village."

The village heads of each village are all familiar with each other, and Yunqiao's father has also introduced Yunqiao to many people. Before the New Year, he also introduced a young man from Dayang Village and a girl from a village a little further away. The two have already settled down, and it is estimated that the wedding day is not far away.

Yun Qiao happily said, "I'm familiar with Dayang Village. There are quite a few good girls and boys there. Tell me where they are from."

"He's the boy from Dayang Village, Yang Anjin, and his mother's name is Zhang Lanzhen."

"It's his family, I know. Don't tell me Fang Yu has good taste. His brother is a good guy. I heard a few days ago that someone proposed marriage to his brother, but it seems that it didn't work out. It seems that his mother didn't want to and didn't like the boy."

"Why not?"

Yun Qiao supported her waist and changed to a more comfortable sitting position, continuing: "Well, his brother is well-off and has high standards. The man I mentioned a few days ago is not a regular worker. Who would agree with him? Don't you think so, auntie?"

Yun Qiao knew how to read people's expressions and said something to comfort Zhu Cuilan: "But don't worry, auntie. Fang Yu is much better than that guy. Anyway, his brother hasn't been married yet. If Fang Yu really likes her, I will go there for you."

"I came to you just for this. You're not in good health right now, and I feel bad for having you make this trip."

"I'm tired of sitting at home all day. It's good to walk around more, so that the children won't be lazy in the future. I've taken this matter to heart. I'll go when I'm free tomorrow, and I'll let you know as soon as I have any news."

The matter was settled, so Zhu Cuilan didn't bother me any further. Before leaving, she left the eggs behind and said gratefully, "Thank you for your hard work. These eggs are laid by our own chickens. You need to replenish your body now, so keep them for yourself. Then you should rest well. I'll be leaving first."

Yun Qiao didn't refuse. She thanked Zhu Cuilan and left the eggs. "Take care, auntie. Come visit us when you have time."

Zhu Cuilan finished her job and her steps were much lighter on the way back. She didn't even go home, but hurried to tell Yang Donghu about it.

Yang Donghu finally finished sewing the shoes. After practicing needlework for such a long time, his hands became much more skilled and he could do it much faster than at the beginning.

While he was getting more familiar with it, he wanted to make an extra pair for Zhao Luochuan to wear.

"Then we just have to wait for the letter. Maybe we will get it tomorrow." Yang Donghu was very happy after hearing what Zhu Cuilan said. He had selfish motives. If Yang Anjin and he had a good relationship, and it really worked out, he wouldn't have to spend too much time worrying about dealing with the relationship with his new wife in the future.

Zhu Cuilan smiled more than she had a few days ago, and her tone was no longer as gloomy as before. "Yes, I know this matter can't be rushed, but I always feel that waiting for the news is unbearable. It's like a weed growing in my heart, and I can't calm down no matter what I do."
