Chapter 23 Sun Qijing's Precocity
Zhao Lingmeng looked at the little head in her arms, her heart softening. "Your father treats your brother very well, just like mother treats you very well. So if one day your father treats you as well as mother treats you, will you ignore mother?"
"I can't." Sun Qiming protested loudly, fearing that his mother would misunderstand him.
"Mom knows that we are obviously good kids, so we don't blame our brother, okay?" Although Sun Qiming was only two years old, Zhao Lingmeng also spoke to Sun Qiming softly. She would not treat Sun Qiming as a child, so that Sun Qiming would feel respected.
"I know what mother said. I don't blame my brother." After Sun Qiming said this, he rubbed against Zhao Lingmeng's arms.
Zhao Lingmeng patted the little guy's back and praised him, "Mom is really great."
Sun Qiming was delighted to hear his mother say this. He pulled out of Zhao Lingmeng's arms and played by the bed, not running around. Zhao Lingmeng saw this and took the third child outside to sleep, letting Sun Qiming develop a bond with him. Zhao Lingmeng only told him not to press down on his younger brother and to touch him gently.
As expected, Zhao Lingmeng's attitude made Sun Qiming feel that his younger brother hadn't taken much of his mother's love. So he suddenly decided to like his younger brother more. So he touched his face, then his little hand, and played with him happily.
The third child was also good-tempered. His brother woke him up, but he didn't cry. He just looked around with curious eyes. I don't know if he could see clearly.
"Mom, my brother's hands are so small!" After saying that, she opened her own hands and compared them with her brother's, looking very cute.
"Your hands were this small and your body was this long when you were a child. Now you have grown into your mother's big baby." Zhao Lingmeng said while thinking about the appearance of Sun Qiming as a child in the original owner's memory, and compared with her hands.
After hearing what his mother said, Sun Qiming looked at himself and exclaimed, "Mom, this is amazing."
Zhao Lingmeng looked at the little guy's baby voice and echoed, "Mom thinks it's amazing too."
Zhao Lingmeng played particularly well with the two children. Children are truly fun when they're well behaved. This was the conclusion Zhao Lingmeng had reached recently. She found it quite wonderful to have three children without having to raise her own.
As soon as Sun Qijing entered the next room, he saw his father sitting alone at the table, eating in silence.
"My son greets my father." Sun Qijing spoke, breaking the silence in the room.
"Jing'er is here! Have you eaten? If not, come and have some with your father?" Sun Tu was happy to see Sun Qijing. Sun Tu had been feeling lonely during this period of time.
Sun Qijing had already used it, but seeing his father's expectant eyes, he silently walked to the stool and motioned Sun Tu to carry him up.
"I'll use some more with Dad."
Sun Tu hugged Sun Qijing up and said with a sob, "Okay, Jing will accompany Daddy for a while."
For a moment, the only sound in the room was the sound of chopsticks, and no one spoke.
Sun Tu looked at his well-behaved eldest son and asked softly, "How do you feel about living with your mother? Are you used to it? Are you having a good time?"
Sun Qijing gently put down his chopsticks and replied in a baby voice, "Daddy, don't worry about me. She's my real mother, how could I not have a good life? Besides, it's quite fun playing with my brother every day."
"Dad, how are grandma and aunt?" Sun Qijing asked, and the worry in his eyes could not be hidden.
Sun Tu's eyes welled up when he heard Sun Qijing ask this. He hadn't dared to mention his mother and younger sister during this period, so it was rare that Sun Qijing still remembered them.
"Don't worry, they have enough food to eat and warm clothes to wear, but they don't live the luxurious life they used to." Sun Tu, a mama's boy, always wants his mother to live a good life.
Although Sun Qijing was only three years old, he had heard a lot of gossip during the years of being caught between his grandmother and his mother. Therefore, he was more mature than other children.
So when he heard his father complaining about Zhao Lingmeng like this, he subconsciously advised his father: "Dad, don't say that. I think some of what Mom said is correct. Whether Grandmother and Aunt are doing well is your responsibility, or even my responsibility, but it really has nothing to do with my mother."
"You're on your mother's side?" Sun Tu's eyes were filled with shock and sadness. He felt as if his treasure had been snatched away by someone else.
Sun Qijing knew from the look on his father's face that his father hadn't thought about the fundamental problem at all. No wonder he hadn't been able to deal with his mother for so long: "Dad, you're the third place in the imperial examination, so you should be more reasonable and not act so unreasonably."
"Okay, let's be reasonable." Sun Tu wanted to change his child's mind in one go, and even sat up straight.
Sun Qijing opened his mouth and stabbed his father: "Dad, tell me, why are you right?"
"You know, when a woman is married, she has to serve the whole family. Isn't it normal for your mother to serve your grandmother?" Sun Tu, the mama's boy, said as a matter of course.
"Then whose husband doesn't bring honor to his wife? Then, Dad, are you a high-ranking official now? I heard from the servants at home that you are only a seventh-rank official. If it weren't for my grandfather, you wouldn't even be able to keep this."
When Sun Tu heard his son say this, he was so angry that his neck turned red, but he was too embarrassed to say that he was a high-ranking official. After all, his son would grow up, and when he understood, he would think about what he said today. Then what dignity would he still have as a father!
So Sun Tu was angry for a while and then didn't say anything, but he didn't deny it either. He just pretended that nothing happened.
"Then father, do you have money? I heard the servants at home talking about how you are using mother's money. You use mother's money and treat her badly. What else do you dare to ask for? You are not as sensible as me, a three-year-old." Sun Qijing stabbed his father again.
"Dad, you can't be greedy. If you wanted what you said, you shouldn't have tried to marry someone above your station. You should find someone of equal status. Her family will also rely on you for food. Then your wishes will be fulfilled. And what can my mother expect from you? Is she expecting you to find a few more concubines? I know you can't have it all."
After Sun Qijing finished speaking, he looked at his father with expectation.
Sun Tu actually knew that what his son said was right, but what could he do! He couldn't just sleep in a high bed and let his mother and sister eat coarse food. Sun Tu could only touch his son's head and say, "Dad's Jing'er has grown up and knows a lot of things."
Sun Qijing thought, what if I'm not sensible enough? I can't really let my mother and father get divorced!
