Chapter 8 The Game Begins 1
"Madam Wu, please help keep an eye on the outside. Once Aunt Wang's beating is over, find her a place to live that's far from the main courtyard, especially the front courtyard. Then hire a doctor to keep her alive. She doesn't need to be well cared for, as she's weak and can still cause trouble. I'll stay with Yangyang for a while to sleep."
Zhao Lingmeng rubbed his brows, thinking that this body was still too damaged. After just a moment of worrying, his body was already tired again.
"Miss, you should rest! You are still in confinement after childbirth! Don't overwork yourself. I will help you take care of you. You will be fine." Aunt Wu looked at the tired-looking young lady and felt very distressed. She thought it was all the fault of the son-in-law, otherwise the young lady would not have to suffer so much. Aunt Wu carefully covered Zhao Lingmeng with a blanket.
"By the way, Ma'am, you can go and get busy later. Please let the four hibernating people take turns guarding outside and don't leave them alone. No one is allowed in, including my son-in-law." Zhao Lingmeng suddenly remembered and instructed.
"Well, Miss, sleep well! Nanny will arrange it." Nanny Wu promised softly, soothing the young lady's anxiety. In her heart, she hated her brother-in-law and his family. They ate, lived and used the young lady's things, but in the end they didn't know how to be grateful. It was really too much to treat our young lady like this.
Sun Tu angrily left Yixin Courtyard and did not go to the old lady to listen to her crying. He went straight back to the front yard.
Sun Tu was already angry, thinking that he was just marrying a woman and it would not shake his wife's status as the legal wife at all.
I don't know why Meng'er has completely lost her former wisdom. She even asked me to send Sun Qijing back. He is my favorite grandson, how could I agree to that? Sun Tu could only sigh in his heart and drag it out for now!
When Sun Tu arrived at the front yard, he realized it looked very different from before. He immediately called over Xiao Si Jiang Cheng beside him and asked, "What's going on in this front yard? Where are the antique calligraphy and paintings in this room?"
"My lord, Qiufang, who is with the Madam, came this morning with some people and took these things away. They said these things were Madam's dowry and they had to be put back in the warehouse." Jiang Cheng replied cautiously.
"How ridiculous! How ridiculous!" Sun Tu tried hard to control his temper when he heard Jiang Cheng say that, but he couldn't help it and threw the teapot on the table. He finally managed to calm himself down.
"Send someone up with a set of teapots later." Sun Tu told Jiang Cheng after calming down after the fall.
Jiang Cheng's face turned a little ugly when he heard this, and he didn't respond for a long time.
"What's wrong? Why are you standing here instead of making arrangements?" Sun Tu raised his head and looked at the wooden figure in front of him, Jiang Cheng, and felt that his anger was getting worse. When people are unlucky, nothing goes well.
"Master, when Qiufang left this morning, she said that Madam had instructed that they would not be responsible for the affairs of the front yard in the future. So there is no place to make up for it at the moment." Jiang Cheng explained carefully.
"Zhao Lingmeng is really great. You must do it so well. Great!" Sun Tu felt that his wife had once again made him look at her with admiration.
"Go to the accounting office and withdraw some money to buy it. I don't believe that we can't buy it at the emperor's feet." Sun Tu ordered angrily.
"The accountant has no money left." Jiang Cheng wanted to disappear from the master's sight, but he couldn't.
"The accountant was out of money, but I saw there was still quite a lot in the account a few days ago?" Sun Tu asked in confusion.
"That was money the Madam took out from her own private treasury to supplement the family income. She took it back and said she would not take care of it anymore." Jiang Cheng could only continue to add.
"What about the backyard?" Sun Tu had a bad feeling when he heard Jiang Cheng say that, and immediately asked about the situation in the backyard.
"No one touched the things in the old lady and the eldest lady's room, but the lady sent the indentures of the maids who served them there, saying that they would be responsible for their monthly wages from now on.
Today, the main kitchen is using the leftover ingredients from yesterday. "The madam has already finished preparing the small kitchen in the courtyard today." Jiang Cheng told the master everything he had learned, without missing a single detail.
Jiang Cheng himself was actually quite worried. His wife would definitely not take care of his monthly allowance anymore. His master probably couldn't even support him. He was also afraid he would be kicked out.
"The old lady and the eldest lady didn't react?" Sun Tu was a little confused about this. When he saw his mother just now, she didn't mention anything about this.
"The old lady and the eldest lady went to make a fuss, but they couldn't get in. Several young ladies who are good at martial arts have just come to the lady's room." The more Jiang Cheng spoke, the lower his head became, wondering what was going on.
Sun Tu suddenly felt the anger in his heart dissipate. There was nothing he could do; the situation was stronger than he was! He had always been clever, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to marry Zhao Lingmeng. He had been blinded by Zhao Lingmeng's docility for years, thinking he had tamed her. But maybe she just didn't bother to argue with people like him.
The funny thing is that my mother and I were so smug, thinking we were so clever, that we could control the noble lady of the Marquis's mansion. Now, she's really getting serious, and I can't even fight back. Maybe she doesn't want to be a widow, and it's all because of those three guys that I took advantage of her.
Sun Tu felt around his body but couldn't find a single banknote. He felt a bit embarrassed for a moment. "Sun Tu, Sun Tu, you're just a seventh-rank official. What can you do at this critical moment?" Sun Tu thought with a bit of self-mockery.
"You should leave first! I'll go see the old lady first." Sun Tu figured it out and knew that Qi Jing was really going to be sent back this time. After all, Sun Tu was afraid that if she angered Zhao Lingmeng, she would become a widow. The son would still be someone else's by then.
After all, the Marquis of Wu'an was already a powerful figure, even favored by the Emperor. He wanted to kill a minor official like me, a seventh-rank official. He probably didn't even need to do it himself. Just by hinting at his intentions, there would be plenty of pawns willing to do the job. This move was truly a terrible one.
Sun Tu hurried all the way to the bamboo courtyard. While still outside the courtyard, he heard his mother and sister scolding Zhao Lingmeng inside. Sun Tu rubbed his forehead, took a deep breath, and strode inside.
"Mom, sister, what are you two doing? Are you afraid that people don't know that you two don't like her?" Sun Tu asked in a low voice.
"If you know, you know. What are you afraid of? What can you do to us if you know? Brother, you have to stand on our side. You can't forget your mother after getting married." Sun Yue said forcefully.
"Yes, I stand on your side. I will be a good son to your mother and a good brother to you. Then the three of us can go begging together. Or we can go to the underworld together." Sun Tu walked to the table and sat down. He poured himself a glass of water, drank it all in one gulp, and then said slowly.
