Chapter 68 Preparing to Enlighten the Child
No matter how angry Zhao Lingmeng was at the scene before her, she looked at the two little kids in front of her, still waiting for her praise, and could only sigh in her heart that life is really a cycle. In her previous life, she had angered her parents, and now she was suffering the consequences.
Zhao Lingmeng still wanted to solve this problem thoroughly. She couldn't let it get messed up again next time after the flowers were planted! She squatted down, staring at Sun Qijing and the other two brothers with a smile: "Tell me, both of you, why did you think of coming here to pick flowers?"
"We've been playing everywhere and are bored, so we two brothers discussed it and thought we could come here to pick flowers for mom. It's so troublesome for mom to go and look every day! We'll pick some for you and put them in the room so you can look at them whenever you want."
Zhao Lingmeng was a little moved after hearing what Sun Qijing said, so she hugged the two brothers separately. But after hugging them, Zhao Lingmeng said to them:
"Mom is very happy. It's very kind of you to have such a heart. But Mom also likes to come over and take a look occasionally, just like you occasionally go to feed the fish in the lake in front. Isn't it happy too?"
Sun Qijing and Sun Qiming thought about it and realized that they were really happy to go there every day to feed the fish, so they nodded.
"When you two have time in the future, come with your mother to see the flowers, okay?" Zhao Lingmeng tried hard to fool them, hoping that they would not pick the flowers in the future, but she was afraid of hurting the children's feelings, so Zhao Lingmeng had no choice but to use her own trickery.
"Okay!" The two little guys responded in unison. But after a while, Sun Qiming said dejectedly, "But there are no flowers left!"
Zhao Lingmeng touched the guy's head and felt that children were really magical. Sometimes they made people want to beat them up, and sometimes they made people feel caring for them.
"It's okay, Mom will let them plant again."
After Zhao Lingmeng said this, the two brothers Sun Qijing and Sun Qiming were happy and came over to hold Yun Yao's hand.
"Mom, I'm hungry!" After Sun Qiming said this, he saw his mother looking down at him, so he touched his stomach, and the meaning was self-evident.
Zhao Lingmeng looked at Sun Qijing again. Sun Qijing felt his mother's gaze and replied a little embarrassedly: "Mom, I'm hungry too."
What else could Zhao Lingmeng say? She silently held the two children's hands and slowly walked back. The only voice on the road was Sun Qiming's. He would ask, "Mom, is the roast suckling pig delicious?" and then ask Sun Qijing, "Brother, have you tried it?" and so on.
Zhao Lingmeng would occasionally reply to him, but more often than not, Sun Qijing would respond to Sun Qiming's whimsical thoughts. After all, children's logic should be similar, so they have more in common.
As the three of them slowly strolled to the main dining hall, they could smell the aroma of roasted suckling pig, so overwhelming that Zhao Lingmeng swallowed her saliva. Meanwhile, the two little ones, Sun Qijing and Sun Qiming, had already broken free of Zhao Lingmeng's hands and run inside. Zhao Lingmeng could still hear the two children's exclamations from outside.
Zhao Lingmeng also walked in quickly. Smelling the food, she was also hungry. When Zhao Lingmeng walked in, she saw the two little guys were already sitting there, waiting for her to eat.
"Have you two washed your hands?" Zhao Lingmeng could only ask helplessly.
"It's washed. Aunt Qiuyue helped wash it. Mom, go wash your hands." This was said by Sun Qijing, but Sun Qiming's eyes were almost fixed on the roast suckling pig and he didn't hear what his mother said to his brother at all.
Zhao Lingmeng quickly went to wash her hands. When she came back, she was surprised to see the two little ones still sitting there waiting for her. They hadn't eaten yet.
Zhao Lingmeng cut a piece of meat for each of them, then cut a piece for herself, smiling and saying, "Eat quickly!"
There was no talking at the table for the rest of the meal, only the sound of the three of them eating. The roast suckling pig, paired with refreshing and delicious side dishes, and then washed down with a mouthful of porridge, was simply delicious.
Concentrating on eating, they quickly filled up, and in no time, the three of them were full. They only ate half of the roast suckling pig; after all, there was only one woman and two children, so they couldn't eat that much. Zhao Lingmeng would carve only half, leaving the other half untouched.
"Qiuyue, just ask the second-class maid to come in and wait. Bring half of this and the other half down, and let the others have a taste."
Zhao Lingmeng hadn't thought of sharing her own food with others. She had reserved half for Qiuyue and the others, wanting them to try it too. Meanwhile, Sun Tu still had one meat dish, one vegetable dish, and one soup.
If Sun Tu wanted to eat good food, he could only do so when he came to Yixinyuan to take care of his children. Forget it at other times. His salary was too high to afford it.
"Thank you, Princess!" She happily agreed. Qiuyue looked at the half roast suckling pig on the table, which had not been touched at all, and felt warm in her heart. The young lady had always been so kind to them. She went out and asked someone to come in and wait for them. They could have a hot meal, which was not in vain for the young lady's kindness.
The three of them would do something special after every meal: drink digestive tea.
"Mom, when can we eat this again?" Needless to say, this must be Sun Qiming asking. The difference this time is that Sun Qijing is also looking at Zhao Lingmeng.
Zhao Lingmeng could only deceive him, saying, "We can't eat it recently. We can't buy piglets! But if you behave, we can eat it once a month."
"Mom, what does it mean to be good?"
Zhao Lingmeng looked at Sun Qijing who was grasping the key points at this time, and could only sigh that he was not so easy to fool now that he was one year older.
"How about your mother hire a mentor for you and you learn to recognize characters with him for an hour every day?" Zhao Lingmeng discussed with them. The main reason was that they were too energetic throughout the day and this mansion could not withstand the harm caused by the two brothers.
Sun Qijing and Sun Qiming both knew their father was a top scholar. Although they didn't understand what that meant, they knew it meant a great scholar. They both wanted to be that talented in the future, and they weren't opposed to learning to read. They both nodded and agreed.
"Then let's make a deal. Once you agree, you can't go back on your word. Mom will make you two toys that you like when the time comes. But if you two go back on your word, Mom will take the toys back."
To keep the two brothers from causing trouble in the mansion, Zhao Lingmeng decided to have a craftsman build a slide and a simple, foot-powered car for them. Zhao Lingmeng was convinced no child could resist the allure of these two toys.
"I definitely won't regret it."
"Me too!"
When the two little ones heard their mother say that if they learned to read well, they would not only get new toys but also delicious food, they rushed to express their interest.
"Then let's high-five as proof." Zhao Lingmeng raised her hand and waited for the two of them to high-five. Sun Qijing and Sun Qiming also liked this adult behavior. They came over and high-fived Zhao Lingmeng.
