Chapter 103 At worst, we'll just consider ourselves a couple in dire straits.

"You eat and sleep all day long and you're not afraid of your body, so why should I be afraid?" Qin Yuanjiu said irritably, pulling her over. "At worst, we can just be a pair of ill-fated husband and wife!"

Tuberculosis may not seem like a big deal in later generations, but the problem is that current medical technology has not yet conquered it.

She was still incredibly audacious, and without thinking much about the consequences, she charged headlong into it.

He wasn't too worried about her. After all, she was a lucky koi fish blessed with all the world's good fortune; how could she be so easily tainted by filth?

If there's anything to worry about, it's that those who play tricks might suffer a terrible fate.

The streetlights cast a dim, palm-sized beam of light. People had finished their meals and were out for a stroll. Children chased and played, and life was incredibly harmonious and peaceful. Even as they smelled the cool autumn breeze carrying the scent of fallen leaves, they felt a sense of gratitude for the present moment.

To live without witnessing the ugliness of the world and to live within one's moral boundaries is truly a luxury!

With this thought, Ke Meiyu, whose body was too weak to be Qin Yuanjiu's sidekick, clutched her stomach and said pitifully, "Comrade Qin, I'm hungry..."

“Let’s go. I saw you weren’t finished earlier, so I asked the chef at the state-run restaurant for a bowl of uncooked hand-pulled noodles, and also bought some vegetables and meat. When we get back to the guesthouse, we can borrow a stove and pot to cook some noodles.”

Ke Meiyu nodded repeatedly, and suddenly felt energetic, so she grabbed him and dragged him toward the guesthouse.

Qin Yuanjiu took long strides, while she, with her short legs, was dragged along at a trot.

What a coincidence! The receptionist at the guesthouse this time happens to be the same lady from the Chengbei Guesthouse!

"Hey there, miss! What brings you to work here?"

Ke Meiyu excitedly ran over, leaned on the platform, and greeted everyone with a smile.

The young woman smiled, then her apple-shaped face fell. "I didn't want to either, but I ran into a scoundrel who insisted on dating me."

"He looks decent enough, but his character is awful. If my sister hadn't seen him taking a young girl to a restaurant, I would have been ripped off!"

“His family has some connections. We can’t do anything to him, so we can only ask someone to transfer me here.”

The young woman pouted, "These days, it's not so easy to transfer jobs. My family is mostly in the north of the city, and now I'm the only one in the south. I work five night shifts and one day shift, and it takes two hours just to transfer from the south to the north of the city."

"I can only go home once every two weeks, and I have to switch shifts with someone else."

Thinking back, she was also a treasure in the family, always getting her share of the best food and clothes.

The state-run restaurants here are competitors with those in the north of the city. Even if she wants to have a good meal, she has to be careful what she says. Forget about trying to build connections, she can be turned away as soon as she mentions it!

Now she's all alone here, looking listless and lacking energy.

Ke Meiyu smiled and said, "Miss, I'll be studying here after the New Year. It's the Provincial University of Science and Technology. I'll hang out with you then!"

"Really?" the receptionist asked with a smile.

"Of course! Don't I look like a college student?" Ke Meiyu twirled around, looking smug. "Not only me, but also my boyfriend and my five older brothers."

At this point, she smiled and leaned closer to whisper, "My five older brothers are also tall, strong, and incredibly handsome."

The older brothers, at least now that they're university students, can become sought-after marriage partners with a little guidance!

The receptionist immediately blushed, "I...I don't know what you're talking about!"

Ke Meiyu pursed her lips and continued, "Miss, my brothers are all silly and have never spoken to a woman. It's really fun to tease them."

"See my man? Is he good to me?"

The young woman nodded. "That's great. Your boyfriend is so handsome and has such a great presence. He's also very patient with you."

She could see the growing doting and affection he showed for his young wife in his eyes, which made her incredibly envious!

"Right? Men need to be properly trained. If you want a certain kind of man, you have to guide him in that direction." Ke Meiyu imparted her experience with an air of expertise: "We are all modern women. The old ideas of being a good wife and mother, the three obediences and four virtues, are all outdated!"

"On the contrary, men need to feel a sense of urgency, otherwise they won't be able to find good wives. Young women have their own jobs, so they can't bear the housework alone. Why should men be able to act like kings after work?"

"Buying groceries, cooking, washing dishes, mopping the floor, doing laundry, and then later, after having children, picking them up from school and helping with their homework—all these tasks need to be shared. What are men supposed to do?"

"We can earn our own money, we don't need them to support us, so why would we hire someone to live with us like a king?"

The young woman nodded in agreement, "Yes, we women are no worse than them, why should we be nannies and not get any credit? Old hags are all the result of hard work."

"Just you wait, little sister. When I get back, I'll give my brothers intensive training. I don't expect them to be outstanding, but at least they'll be able to cook decent meals, wash clothes presentably, learn to plan their lives, and most importantly, hand over their salaries and be good wives!" Ke Meiyu chuckled, thinking that being an instructor and bossing everyone around was the most impressive thing ever.

The young woman was filled with longing after hearing what she said.

"However, the brothers I trained were all from the same batch, and the fine-tuning will depend on the abilities of my future sisters-in-law."

Qin Yuanjiu sighed and rubbed his forehead, unable to resist asking, "Comrade Ke, aren't you hungry?"

"Oh my, have you eaten yet, Miss?" Ke Meiyu jumped up in surprise.

"I ate a few cookies in the dorm," the girl said shyly. "Didn't you guys eat any either? I still have some unopened bread."

“Eating this is not nutritious at all. Miss, lend me your stove and pot. We’ll cook some noodles and bring you some later.” Ke Meiyu said with a smile, “We’re both from the countryside, and we have big appetites. A small pot won’t be enough for us.”

"No need, I slept all day and I'm not hungry at all!" she said as she brought out the cooking utensils from behind the front desk.

Ke Meiyu beckoned, and Qin Yuanjiu, with a cold expression, stepped forward, nodded to her, and carried his things back to his residence.

"Oh dear, my colleague was on duty this afternoon," the young woman suddenly remembered, flipped through her notebook, and said, "They find cleaning the bathroom troublesome and don't want the facilities to wear out, so they usually don't give double rooms, only regular old standard rooms."

"I'll change your room," she said, picking up a pen to cross it out and giving them a new key.

"You're so kind, Miss Ke," Ke Meiyu nodded happily.

"Don't call me 'Miss' anymore. My name is Hang Yutong, so you won't have trouble finding me next time."

"Yes, Sister Yutong, my name is Ke Meiyu, you can call me Yu Bao'er," Ke Meiyu briefly explained her extraordinary status in the Ke family and Luofeng Village.
