Chapter 123 Without any evidence, who do you think would believe it?

"I've worked like a slave for your family, exhausted like this, what kind of son did I give birth to?"

Do you even have a conscience?

Ke Lao Er said in a muffled voice, "You just want to eat meat, right? I'll go out and buy some."

After saying that, he suddenly opened the door and walked out.

"Why should we buy meat when it's free?" Aunt Ke Er caught up and saw the two people at the door.

Her expression changed, and she said coldly, "You've come to our door so late just to watch the show?"

Then she saw Ke Meiyu carrying a bamboo basket of wild boar meat and sneered, "What do you take our second wife for? You won't let us share the meat in public, but you're so eager to give us meat in private to show how kind you are?"

"Pah! Even if we go out begging, we will never ask you for a single grain of rice or a bowl of water!"

Ke Meiyu blinked. "Auntie, are you having sweet dreams before you've even gone to bed? Shall I bring you some meat?"

"We just ate too much meat and were taking a detour to digest before heading home. We just happened to be passing by here. Could it be that we can't take this road?"

Aunt Ke said through gritted teeth, "Why can't I walk if I can walk?"

"Ke Meiyu, can't you be simpler? If you want to see us make a scene, just say so. You've gone around in circles and are almost out of the village. Even a three-year-old wouldn't believe such an excuse!"

Ke Meiyu shrugged helplessly, glanced at her, exclaimed "Eh?", and then laughed, "I always speak my mind. We did take the wrong turn just now, but I am indeed watching the show now."

"Tsk tsk, the feng shui of this Qiao family's old house isn't very good," she said, shaking her head dramatically. "The main gate faces east and west, and the houses are built north and south, with a view from one end to the other. This is a layout that will bring unrest and financial loss to the family."

Ke Lao Er and Ke Er Da Niang glared angrily at Ke Mei Yu.

"You little brat, I'm warning you to watch your mouth," Ke Lao Er said viciously. "You're promoting feudal superstition. Believe me or not, I'll report you to the Organization Reform Committee."

Ke Meiyu shook her head with a smile, "I don't believe it. Everyone in the village knows that our two families have a deep entanglement. You didn't get to eat meat because of your bad character, so you sued me, the great contributor."

"Without any evidence, who do you think would believe it?"

She had already checked, and apart from the couple and the main villain, everyone else was inside. With the draft blowing through the house, no one could hear what she had just said.

"You," Ke Lao Er was so angry that he couldn't help but raise his hand.

Qin Yuanjiu stepped forward with a cold face, "Comrade Ke Qingshu, you're a man, so you resort to hitting women when you can't win an argument? And you hit my wife, no less!"

Having witnessed Qin Yuanjiu's skills, Ke Lao Er reluctantly lowered his hand, saying, "Keep your woman in check. Don't let her say whatever she wants. Sooner or later, she'll either end up in jail or be... well, you know..."

Before he could finish speaking, Qin Yuanjiu pulled out a thick stick from somewhere and swung it at Ke Lao Er's leg.

The force was so fierce that Ke Lao Er couldn't withstand it and immediately fell to his knees, instinctively pulling down Ke Er Da Niang as well.

The pain made him curl up on the ground, gritting his teeth and enduring it for a while.

Aunt Ke was stunned for a moment. Just as she was about to shout, Ke Meiyu stuffed a handful of withered grass from her space into her mouth.

"I also advise you to be kinder. Don't think that no one knows the filth in your heart, otherwise retribution will come soon," Qin Yuanjiu said, holding Ke Meiyu's hand and calmly striding away.

Ke Meiyu was still angrily stretching her arms and kicking her legs, "Does their family think I'm a spineless coward? Why is everything they do directed at me?"

"I noticed that Ke Qingshu has too many messy crow's feet. The crow's feet are on the temples, which is the marital palace. This is a clear sign of infidelity!"

"He looks honest, but he's a womanizer. I probably touched a nerve just now, which is why he got angry."

Qin Yuanjiu tapped her on the head, "What are you thinking about, you little girl?"

"Let's just live our own lives, why should we care about them?"

"Just watching the show," Ke Meiyu grumbled. "If I don't come back and see every single bit of their commotion, I'm not Ke Meiyu!"

"I am petty and narrow-minded, are you scared now? Regretful now? Let me tell you, it's no use!"

Qin Yuanjiu couldn't help but chuckle, pulling her into his arms and patting her back soothingly, "Alright, calm down. What are you going to make for me later?"

"You're angry with them, so why are you taking it out on me? Didn't I stand up for you just now?"

Ke Meiyu couldn't resist biting his arm through his clothes, "Men are all bad!"

Qin Yuanjiu's eyes darkened. "How could that be? You've only met a few men, how can you generalize like that?"

"Your grandfather, your father, all your brothers, and me—where are you bad, and where have you gone wrong?"

Ke Meiyu pursed her lips, pushed him away, and hurried home with her head down.

Qin Yuanjiu strode after him, "Oh, little girl, you've got something on your mind?"

"We're a married couple, living under the same roof. What secrets could there be? Why don't you tell me, and I'll analyze it for you?"

Ke Meiyu turned her head and bared her teeth at him, saying in a cute but fierce tone, "You wouldn't understand even if I told you!"

"I'm not in the mood to cook tonight."

Qin Yuanjiu nodded. "Alright, how about you tell me what to do?"

"Didn't you tell your brothers that men who can't do housework don't know how to cherish women? I have a wife now, so I should learn to cherish her, right?"

"At least, put on an act in front of others."

Ke Meiyu glared at him, "I want to eat a Manchu Han Imperial Feast!"

"I'd like to make it for you, but we don't have the ingredients, do we?"

“Hypocritical,” she snorted, turning her head away as she gazed at the round moon in the sky, a hint of pain flashing in her eyes.

Back home, Ke Meiyu acted like a boss, arms crossed, chin slightly raised, face tense, ordering Qin Yuanjiu to make braised noodles, stewed pork belly, braised lion's head meatballs, fried crispy pork, stewed potatoes and ribs...

She gave an order, and Qin Yuanjiu immediately followed with an action.

Ke Meiyu always chose the simplest and most foolproof methods, so Qin Yuanjiu really prepared a feast of wild boar meat.

The aroma of the delicious food instantly shattered her unhappiness, which she had been trying so hard to maintain.

Ke Meiyu buried her head in her food and nodded repeatedly as she ate. "Comrade Qin, I didn't expect you to have such a talent for cooking. Practice more in the future and try to make all the dishes."

Then she'll be in for a treat!

Qin Yuanjiu ate slowly, his gaze gently falling on the little pig rooting in the pot. "I cooked this meal. You'll clean up and wash later. Let's divide the work. That's what you said too."

Ke Meiyu snorted, "I'll wash it then!"

She glanced at her pitiful peace value on the panel, and for the sake of her delicate hands, gritted her teeth and redeemed a dishwasher.

With this amazing gadget helping her divide the work, can she continue to enjoy her food?

She's so clever!
