Chapter 293 can just produce two layers.

"So, she brought the money at noon, a whole ten stacks of cash, filling an entire box."

"But now there aren't any left, not a single one!"

She stammered but clearly recounted the whole story. Fearing they wouldn't believe her, she added, "Ke Enshu was afraid I would return, so she specially wrote an agreement, which mentioned ten thousand yuan."

Only then did everyone believe her words, and they also became anxious.

If someone can lose 10,000 yuan at home, it can only be a case of a thief within the family!

With so many people in the family, and it being winter break, everyone except those who were at work was staying home. Maybe someone passed by the old lady's house, heard the commotion, and then secretly pocketed the 10,000 yuan while everyone was visiting relatives across the street.

The old lady also said that she would keep half of the money as her funeral expenses, and the rest would be divided among her brothers and sisters, with each person receiving several hundred yuan, which is almost equivalent to a year's salary.

Everyone's enthusiasm for finding money soared, and they began to gather everyone downstairs, from Old Mrs. Ling to the baby, for a thorough search by their own search teams.

Although each family member had their own ulterior motives and secretly saved money, the family was truly prosperous with many offspring. The late old man alone had five sons and three daughters, and each son had a family of his own.

It's said that teenagers can eat their fathers out of house and home. Regular grain rations are never enough, so they have to buy expensive grain on the black market. They're basically broke every month, and even if they manage to save a little money, it's not enough to cover the amount the old lady just promised.

Therefore, each household was exceptionally honest at this moment, revealing their entire family's assets, and then allowing the search team to investigate who the traitor was.

They searched the entire night, including the rooftops and the yard, but couldn't find a single piece of the Great Unity brand.

Ten thousand yuan is not something that can be hidden in a small gap, and they also asked the gatekeeper if any members of the Ling family had come and gone during that time.

There were no clues at all, and the 10,000 yuan simply vanished into thin air!

The people were unwilling to give up, but they couldn't find the information. Instead, they revealed their own family secrets, and their frustration was no less than that of the old lady.

Ke Meiyu watched with glee as dozens of people demolished their house.

"So happy?" Ying Yan smiled and pulled the person into his arms. "Not angry anymore?"

"Why are you angry?" she chuckled softly. "They're looking for the ten thousand yuan that Ke Enshu gave them at home. That money is with me."

“You should take it,” Ying Yan said, resting his chin on her head. “Consider this the money from selling your granddaughter.”

"But what exactly is your background?"

Ke Meiyu's face fell. She had initially been gloating over the female lead having such a bunch of relatives, but now, well, they've become hers.

Although she didn't intend to admit it, she still felt uneasy.

“I don’t know either,” she shrugged. “Actually, I don’t care about my background. My parents and grandparents have been so good to me, so they are my blood relatives.”

"I have no intention of getting to the bottom of things. If you give birth to me but don't raise me, then you might as well not have me."

"So, my parents and grandparents worked so hard to raise me, only to let others have me? I'm not some Tom, Dick, or Harry who should be grateful to someone just because they're nice to me."

"Given the Ling family's situation, if I dared to agree, this house would definitely be transferred to someone else's name tomorrow."

“Perhaps,” she glanced at Ying Yan, “perhaps even the man needs to be changed…”

Ying Yan's face darkened. "Speak properly. Why are you dragging me into this? I would never change my wife, no matter who else she is. Do you know how hard it was for me to pursue you?"

"You heartless little thing, always making me unhappy. Do I have to rip my heart out and put it in your hands before you'll appreciate my kindness?"

Ke Meiyu smiled, turned around, and put her arm around his waist. "How could that be? You're mine, and you can only be mine!"

"I know you're good to me, and no matter what happens in the future, I'll only trust you."

"In this world, even children can't treat me as well as you. We'll support each other for the rest of our lives. I'm not stupid, how could I not know how good you are to me?"

"We've been husband and wife for two lifetimes..."

Hearing her say these words, Ying Yan couldn't help but hug her tightly and chuckled softly, "You little ingrate, you've finally said something sensible."

Ke Meiyu's eyes widened as she tried to push him away, but the dead man held on tightly.

She pinched the soft flesh of his waist and twisted it hard. Hearing him gasp for breath, she couldn't help but loosen her grip. "Is this just my problem? Isn't it because you have a stubborn personality and keep everything to yourself? How was I supposed to know what you were thinking?"

"At most, I'll assume you're hiding someone in your heart, and that someone has crossed a line and is now making a scene when you get home."

“We don’t talk to each other normally, and apart from physical contact, we have zero communication. If I were to treat you with all my heart, that would be truly insane.”

Ying Yan kissed her cheek. "You're the one who's accusing me first. You're just making things up and now you're blaming me? I don't know what's going on in your little head. You're trying to pin all sorts of nonsense on me."

Ke Meiyu glared at him, "What's wrong with me being a woman and having emotions?"

"Fine, fine, you're the boss, you're in charge."

The two teased each other for a while, then burst into laughter, nuzzling each other affectionately, and things quickly escalated.

They used to be like that, but back then it was really noisy, with each of them holding their breath and neither wanting to bow down and admit their mistakes.

However, they were both young at the time, and it really was as the old saying goes: "They fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot of the bed." They would quarrel for a few days and then get along peacefully again. They were a pair of bickering lovers, but they didn't know it when they were in the middle of it.

The Ling family spent several days struggling over ten thousand yuan. Everyone was dejected. The thought of missing out on so much money was probably as disheartening as winning the lottery and missing the redemption deadline!
