The law can't punish them, and they ignore the criticisms of others, living their lives in a reckless and infuriating way.
Ke Meiyu was so angry that her stomach hurt.
Ying Yan patted her head. "I've never made any demands on you. Just do what you think is right. Right and wrong are people's own judgments."
"The Di family has always been domineering. The suffering of Old Master Di is an internal matter for them, but the Di family has often bullied others by abusing their power."
“These days, the Di family men are bedridden, and look at them, apart from their own family who still have some hope for things to get better, everyone else is clapping and cheering.”
"In this world, there's a type of person who's truly hateful: the kind who isn't completely evil, yet they're always causing trouble and annoyance. One blow might shut them up for a while, but if they keep acting up, you'll get another one."
“I think the Di family is tough on the outside but weak on the inside. If we teach them a few lessons, even if we can’t change their distorted values, it will be enough to make them behave themselves and not cause trouble for others.”
Ke Meiyu pouted, "You're just trying to coax me."
Ironically, she was comforted by him.
“I’m not kidding you,” Ying Yan said with a smile. “If they treat their own father like this, then after Old Master Zhao took Old Master Di away, it’s like the Di family got rid of a burden. They’re only happy and won’t have any regrets at all.”
“They even lowered their guard, and they will make big mistakes in the village in the future.”
Ke Meiyu nodded, then hesitated for a moment, "Should I restore Di Laosi's legs now?"
"Should we wait until Di Lao Si's wife runs away before resuming?"
"Let's get back to normal," Ying Yan said calmly, gazing into the distance. "It takes two to tango. They've already had so many children; it wouldn't be good to break them up again. It's better for them to hurt each other."
Ke Meiyu nudged him, "You're the ruthlessest."
The couple, Di Laosi and his wife, have now completely broken off relations. It will be very difficult to restore their old relationship. What happened today will be a thorn in their side, constantly provoking them.
It was a hot day, and Di Laosi's window was wide open. He was still sitting on the edge of the bed with his legs dangling down because he had been so excited to get out of bed earlier.
Ke Meiyu held two tiny stones in her hand, squinted her eyes, and threw them forcefully.
Di Laosi's leg suddenly twitched involuntarily.
He was startled and couldn't help but reach out and touch it with a sliver of hope.
Originally, when he touched his leg, he felt nothing at all, as if he were touching someone else and it had nothing to do with him.
But now his legs were numb, and he could vaguely feel the touch of a hand. Di Laosi opened his eyes wide and kept massaging them back and forth with his hand.
The legs felt numb and cold, as if the blood had stopped flowing after maintaining one position for a long time. The more he massaged, the clearer the sensations became in his legs. Di Laosi's expression was gloomy as he continued his massage while listening to the commotion in the courtyard.
"Yunfen, are you really not going to live with me anymore?" Seeing the child's mother turn to leave, he suddenly raised his voice and asked. "Even if my leg heals in the future, you won't regret it?"
"You need to understand, at your age, your face is full of wrinkles and your skin is loose. Who would want you?"
“I’m different. Although I have children, they’re grown up and don’t need anyone to take care of them. Our Di family also has a brick house, and many young women are eager to marry into our family!”
Di Lao Si's wife scoffed, "I've had enough of living with you. If it weren't for your strength and the high dowry you offered, I wouldn't have bothered marrying into this family."
Even if you get back on your feet, I won't stay. What's the point of staying? To live a poor life with you?
Di Laosi was furious. "Fine, fine, fine, you can't do it. Then hurry up and leave. Once you're out this door, don't even think about coming back. Qing, just wait to be sold off for a good price by your family."
Di Lao Si's wife didn't argue, and turned around and left.
Di Laosi tried to stand up with the help of the bed. After lying down for a month, the muscles in his legs had atrophied somewhat, but he was finally able to take a few shaky steps instead of being unable to use any strength at all as before.
He struggled to walk into the yard, leaning against the wall for support. He was overjoyed to see his family looking at him with surprise and delight.
"Mom, Dad's leg is better, he can walk again!" a child shouted.
As a result, Di Lao Si's wife turned her head and looked around. Instead of coming back, she ran off like a dog chasing after her.
"Father, aren't you going to bring my mother back?" the children asked anxiously.
"Why chase after her? She's such a heartless woman who insults her mother-in-law, doesn't serve her husband, and doesn't want children. Are you going to chase her back and treat her like royalty?" The old lady spoke first, then stopped making a fuss, got up from the ground, and dusted herself off.
She happily said to her son, "Fourth son, you're right. It's only women who worry about getting married, not men. We have a brick house, and I'll find you another young, unmarried woman!"
Di Lao Si smiled too, "Of course, back then our family's conditions weren't great, we didn't have much of a choice, otherwise I wouldn't have chosen such a terrible thing..."
Ke Meiyu stared blankly for a moment, then turned to Ying Yan and asked, "Have we actually helped them get what they wanted?"
She observed that the divorced couple were each finding their own happiness.
Ying Yan also pondered, "The brick house is compensation given to the old man by the organization. As long as the Di family still lives in one of the few bright brick houses in the village, they still have the capital to cause trouble."
"Are we going to tear the house down?" Ke Meiyu asked, raising an eyebrow as she looked at the house.
"No rush, let's wait and see."
When Di Lao Si's leg suddenly healed, the other men in the Di family also gained confidence, feeling that their legs would gradually recover as well, which gave them much more confidence.
