Ke Meiyu showed no fear whatsoever and said easily, "Grandpa, you're overthinking it. This is a combination of public and private interests, and it doesn't involve any deep-seated issues. How much influence would I need?"
"Saying we're using you as a big shot is just a way of using your name. All you need to do is bring a group of old men to visit and inspect our nursing home. Once they experience our services, they'll definitely be happy to pay."
"If these elderly gentlemen can apply for short-term or long-term recuperation and relaxation services, then they are also playing a role similar to yours, acting as a protective umbrella for our nursing home."
"However, everything is about first come, first served, so you, as the protector, will get a share of the profits. They, on the other hand, can only enjoy the same high-quality service as you."
The old man was taken aback. "Recuperation and relaxation? Your services can rival the best in Kyoto?"
"We old folks get free medical checkups every year, isn't that more reliable than what you guys do?"
Ke Meiyu slightly raised her chin, "You don't know this, but I am actually a national-level expert in medicine. I'm just a low-key person."
The old man thought of those medicinal wines that had proven effective. How could someone with no medical knowledge possibly prescribe the right medicine? "How much of a cut will you give me?"
“One-tenth,” Ke Meiyu said without the slightest hesitation.
"Isn't that a bit too little? You know..." Old Master Zhao stroked his non-existent beard and said slowly.
Ke Meiyu interrupted him with a smile: "Grandpa, please stop teasing me."
"You have to believe me, a 10% share of the profits is definitely a very substantial figure."
Old Master Zhao knew that with Ke Meiyu's abilities, she wouldn't need his help at all to win over a group of powerful old men to the nursing home. At that point, there would be no benefit for him.
"Why me?" He looked curious, his earlier intimidating demeanor gone.
Ke Meiyu shook her head and said with a smile, "I don't know either. Maybe you're different from other people. Few people would dare to go to such lengths for someone like Grandpa Di."
"You are a truly admirable person. I hope your wish comes true."
The old man hesitated, "Alright, I'll help you. As for money, how much can an old man like me spend? The organization gives me a good pension, which is not only enough for my own expenses, but also allows me to save some."
Ke Meiyu tilted her head and pointed to everything in the room: the old man's patched old-fashioned shirt, socks with his toes showing, and reading glasses that made him limp...
"Is this enough, as you said?"
"I'm just an old man, I don't care about these things. I've survived so many hard times, why would I care about these things?" The old man smiled without any sign of reluctance.
“But I don’t want to,” Ke Meiyu said, not knowing why she felt the urge to meddle again. “You’ve made a significant contribution; shouldn’t you be enjoying life now?”
“You lived a life of luxury in your early years, there’s no reason for you to be struggling financially in your old age.”
"Whether you need this money or not, keep it with you for now. If you don't need it, you can donate it or use it for something meaningful."
"The social and economic development is very rapid now. Although money is not everything, it can bring considerable convenience."
Grandpa Zhao suddenly burst into laughter, "Alright, tell me what you need this old man to do. I'll have to cooperate properly for those dividends."
Ke Meiyu said with a smile, "When I get there later, I'll prepare for the nursing home, but I'll also prepare some mild tonic pills. You can try them and see how they work. If they work well, you can recommend them."
"Help me promote the nursing home. When it's built, people will come here because of its reputation."
The old man nodded and agreed without the slightest hesitation.
"Let me tell you, I'm good at studying and fighting, but I'm not good at talking. Don't have too high expectations."
Ke Meiyu waved her hand and smiled, "Just do your best. I didn't intend to put all the hiring on your shoulders. Excellent service is the foundation for a prosperous business."
After talking for a while, Ke Meiyu took the proposal and walked out.
Zhao Fanghua hadn't left; she was sitting on the sofa. Hearing the voice, she stood up with a smile and said, "Grandpa, who is this young lady? I've never seen her before."
"Hello, my name is Zhao Fanghua, we should be around the same age..."
Before she could finish speaking, her grandfather bluntly interrupted, "Alright, who's the older sister? Even though Yu Bao'er is married and has a bunch of kids, she's only twenty-six. Who knows if you're older or she's older!"
"Besides, you're such a lazy bum, all you do is eat and sleep all day. Yu Bao'er is busy every day, she doesn't have time to deal with you."
The old man's disdainful tone made Zhao Fanghua tremble with anger: "Grandpa, who is your biological granddaughter? How can you talk to me like that?"
"I have no parents, you are my only support, can't you be even a little bit nicer to me?"
"Or was I found by someone along the way, so you, like everyone else, think I'm superfluous?"
She was truly heartbroken. How could anyone outside of the family get the old man's attention?
No matter how hard she tried to please him, it wouldn't work!
Ke Meiyu stood there, raising her eyebrows.
Was it found and brought back halfway?
She couldn't help but ask, "Grandpa, where did you find your granddaughter?"
Zhao Fanghua was crying harder and harder, feeling sorry for herself.
But when she heard Ke Meiyu ask, she instinctively shouted, "You're a guest. Shouldn't you go home after you've finished talking? Why are you being curious about other people's business?"
