The Di and Zhao families watched enviously as the job openings and salaries were better than their own.
They were cleaning and tidying up buildings, warehouses, ponds, and meadows. The work was heavy and plentiful, the wages were meager, and there were no benefits.

The old man chuckled and shook his palm-leaf fan: "No need, no need, this thing is easy to use."
The people behind her were confused, but they still followed Ke Meiyu to the small conference room on the first floor and sat around the table.
They sat down and, without prior arrangement, all took out notebooks and pens from their bags.
Ke Meiyu smiled and took out her own copy, along with a stack of everyone's information.
Without looking up, she said, "Starting from next to me, everyone please introduce yourselves one by one: name, age, place of origin, education, what you are good at, and where you want to develop your career. Just say whatever comes to mind so that I can have a deeper understanding of you than your resumes."
The group exchanged surprised glances, but they didn't ask any further questions and answered the questions honestly one by one.
Ke Meiyu glanced at each person's resume and then made detailed annotations on them.
They were indeed all rare talents, just as Fang Jinyuan had described. They weren't very old; the oldest had only graduated from university two years prior. Some were postgraduate students, some were undergraduates, and others were high-achieving high school students!

"Now, as the one recruiting apprentices, I'd like to formally introduce myself to you."
Her words caused an uproar. Because most people in Kyoto knew her, they assumed she was just there to chair the meeting for someone else; they never expected it to be her.
