Ke Meiyu frowned. "Are you praising me or criticizing me?"
Qin Yuanjiu patted her head, "Alright, that's all the capacity you have. Don't make it hard on yourself. Just take this as a compliment."
Ke Meiyu grabbed his arm and gave him a quick peck, "What do you mean 'just consider'? You still don't like me!"
She didn't actually bite; she just left two rows of teeth marks without breaking the skin, to express her dissatisfaction.
Qin Yuanjiu pressed down on her shoulder and said earnestly and solemnly, "Comrade Ke Meiyu, I will only say these words once. Although something happened to my family and I was exiled to Luofeng Village, I have never given up on myself!"
"I firmly believe that as long as I live, everything will go as I wish."
"I don't have any requirements for my future partner. As long as we are compatible and can live together, that's enough."
"This is the first time in my life I've met a woman who has expressed her desire to marry me so openly. I think, since I don't have anyone I want to marry, why not have you as my wife?"
"You are beautiful, lively, and a little bit silly, which makes you quite fun to tease. You made my days in Luofeng Village less boring."
"Since I married you, I am definitely going to be responsible for you for the rest of my life."
"I know you're still clueless about love and marriage, but that's okay. I'm waiting for you to open your heart to me completely. I just hope that when you finally experience love, the person you're with will be me."
“Of course,” Qin Yuanjiu said with some difficulty, “if it doesn’t work out after we’ve tried it, I will respect your decision.”
Ke Meiyu was immediately filled with guilt.
She truly had no hope for love and marriage, yet she married the villain for the sake of her mission.
At that time, she thought that since the main villain was destined to die alone, it shouldn't be a problem for her to take the place of his wife.
But little did they know that the main villain had taken it seriously and become quite invested...
"Actually, there's no need to take it so seriously. I was just joking," Ke Meiyu said with an embarrassed smile, brushing Qin Yuanjiu's hand away. "Let's hurry up and go, or we'll miss the bus!"
Qin Yuanjiu shrugged, reverting to his usual nonchalant and indifferent demeanor.
It was as if he had just performed this act specifically to win the Best Actor award.
Ke Meiyu pouted, "I knew you were funny, you make jokes sound so real!"
How can a major villain be so easily reformed?
Trying to fool her? Humph, don't you even know who she is? Do you think she's some naive seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl?
Although it was just a passenger station, there were still many passengers carrying large bags and small packages, carrying bedding, and some even bringing chickens, ducks and geese and pushing old-fashioned bicycles!
Ke Meiyu stood there, dumbfounded, feeling the simplicity and warmth of this era.
"Let's go, the train departs in fifteen minutes," Qin Yuanjiu said, having bought the tickets. He stepped forward and put his arm around her as they walked to the crowded ticket gate.
Because there are many buses going to the provincial capital, and they depart frequently, they didn't have to wait long before boarding the worn-out minibus that smelled strongly of diesel fuel.
“Here, sucking on one will make you feel better,” they said. They were sitting in the second row, with Ke Meiyu by the window, her head sticking out as she gasped for breath.
Qin Yuanjiu handed over a small handful of mints and two oranges!
She quickly peeled one open and put it in her mouth; the cool sensation instantly traveled from her mouth to her forehead.
Smelling the fresh scent of oranges, she longed for her cool red sports car...
When the car is driving, the windows rattle and vibrate whenever the road is uneven.
Amidst the turbulence, Ke Meiyu, who hadn't slept and felt no discomfort, kept drooping her eyelids. Her head bobbed up and down as she struggled against drowsiness, looking as innocent and childlike as ever.
Qin Yuanjiu sat up straight, looked straight ahead, and reached out to press her head onto his shoulder.
Finding a comfortable spot, Ke Meiyu snuggled up contentedly and fell asleep in a second!
The sky was foggy, and the thick clouds hung low, making it feel as if you could walk a few more steps and your head would be covered in moisture.
Rows of tombstones stood solemnly and quietly in the drizzle. Ke Meiyu blinked and looked down. She was wearing a black, puff-sleeved, knee-length dress with a large, cute bow at the back, a veil on her head, and shiny black leather shoes. She wore a pair of dark-patterned long-sleeved gloves and held a small black parasol adorned with white lace.
She tilted her head and was surprised to find herself dreaming in the car.
Having already experienced entering dreams twice, Ke Meiyu was not flustered at all.
She stretched out her hand and looked at it. She was at most six or seven years old now, a year or two older than last time.
The low altitude and narrow field of vision still made her uncomfortable.
Even though the graves were built on a mountain in a terraced style, the rows of lush trees made it impossible for her to see the upper and lower rows even when she was on tiptoe.
With her arms aching, Ke Meiyu held the umbrella and wandered around, finally seeing Xiao Yingyan standing straight in the rain when she was so tired she was sticking out her tongue.
He was wearing a suit, his hair was wet from the rain and stuck to his head, and his pale face was expressionless, only staring at the smiling Qingjue woman on the tombstone with resentment and longing.
Ke Meiyu calmed her breathing and stood silently beside him, remaining quiet for a while, a rare occurrence.
The atmosphere there was so oppressive that within three to five minutes, her eyes were red and tears streamed down her face. In the end, she even started sobbing.
Ying Yan pursed his lips and turned his head, watching her cry uncontrollably. Finally, in a hoarse voice full of impatience, he asked, "This is my mother, why are you crying?"
Ke Meiyu glanced at him, then cried even harder, bursting into loud sobs.
"I am one of her daughters-in-law. Is it wrong for me to be sad and cry because of my mother-in-law's passing?"
"If my mother-in-law had been alive, I wouldn't have had to live such a miserable life..."
At least someone is keeping the big shot in check. Maybe Ying Yan's mother looks down on her and will cover for her by giving her a bag of crystal cores and sending her away.
Or perhaps, if Ying Yan's mother were still alive, the big boss wouldn't be so perverted as to target only her!
Ying Yan turned and left.
"Hey, why did you leave?"
Ke Meiyu wiped away her tears, quickly ran after him, and held the parasol over his head.
"You've got the wrong person. My mom only has one son, me!"
Having witnessed Ying Yan's previous silence and terrible temper, he was clearly much more polite this time, at least he spoke up.
“That’s right, I’m one of your future wives,” Ke Meiyu said, blocking his way with dissatisfaction.
"Even though I'm dreaming, I still want to emphasize this to you: please, please don't cause me any more trouble in the future, okay? You're good-looking, capable, and have so many powerful people following you after the apocalypse. You can have any kind of woman you want, so why do you want to fight me to the death?"
Ying Yan looked him up and down, then muttered indifferently, "Madman," before turning and walking away.
