Thinking of this, Ke Meiyu blushed and spat at him, "Don't think a month is a long time. We have a lot of things to do. Let's hurry up and think of something. When can't we do that?"
Ying Yan glanced at her, chuckled for a while, then hugged her affectionately and said, "Hey, I was just thinking of telling you how to solve this, but I didn't expect my wife to still be thinking about it."
"I'm not afraid. Considering my wife secretly nourishes me when she has nothing to do, if I don't work hard, I'll really be letting down this fertile land and the food I receive every day..."
Ke Meiyu stared wide-eyed at this shameless person, "Ying Yan, I never thought you were this kind of person."
"Hmm, my wife has said that too many times," Ying Yan grabbed the hand she pointed to, pulled her into his arms with a little force, kissed her a few times, and then the two lay down on the bed.
Ke Meiyu is not a strong-willed person, and she has already tacitly accepted it in a daze.
However, Ying Yan brushed her slightly disheveled hair aside and said with a smile, "Wife, we've been married for almost three years. If you have any problems you can't solve, just tell me. What's the point of having a man? Isn't he just there to support you, let you do whatever you want, and make you happy?"
“Leave these troublesome issues to me. You can draw up plans in your spare time, think about how to decorate our Hanks store and how to promote it. You’re the best at these things.”
Ke Meiyu blinked at him, "Such a tricky problem, you can handle it?"
“Wife, you can’t have any doubts about whether or not a man is okay with you,” he said, pinching her chin.
People say that love has an expiration date. When in love, men and women are intimately connected with no secrets, their lives intertwined, wishing they could become one. But relationships don't last forever. After love fades, only the mundane realities of daily life remain.
A popular saying online goes: "A kiss between a middle-aged couple can make you feel nauseous for several nights in a row."
It's not just about getting older; it's about spending so much time together that each other's flaws become more apparent, and arguments often escalate into verbal abuse.
How deep can feelings be worth the erosion of time?
It's not that people get older, nor that wrinkles appear on their faces, but rather that people drift further apart and move closer to family ties. Isn't that a sentence for love? Without love, even the slightest transgression loses its flavor.
But he was addicted to her, and the ten years after the apocalypse only made him more obsessed with her.
This kind of dedication transcends life and death.
To know and love her in this life was a wish he had never had before, and even now, he still holds her in high esteem.
Ke Meiyu gently pushed his chin away, her eyes misty and her voice charming: "Then you're not allowed to shoulder this alone. Tell me if there's a problem."
“Okay,” he replied with a smile.
Ke Meiyu didn't press him for a solution. Instead, she started sketching and writing on paper, brainstorming ideas for Hanks' renovation and advertising.
Ying Yan went out for a day, then packed his things with Ke Meiyu, left a note for the Ying family, and moved to a small courtyard house in the city center.
The interior has been cleaned up; the doors and windows are new, the furniture smells of fresh wood, the walls have been painted, and the oven was used to bake them overnight, completely erasing any traces of previous inhabitants.
Ke Meiyu knew this was a house belonging to the Qin family, or more accurately, a small courtyard that had been set aside outside a large mansion. It was originally intended for the steward's residence. The Qin family handed over the main mansion to the organization, leaving behind this courtyard.
There are three neat main rooms, two rooms each in the east and west wings, and four rooms in a row. There is a well in the middle. In the courtyard, there is a grapevine and a crooked pomegranate tree, whose branches extend into the bedroom of the main house.
“It’s close to the department store here, so we won’t have to go back and forth.” Ying Yan said after tidying up his things and washing his hands. “We’ll stay here for the next two months.”
The house was large, which meant that many people used to stay here. She asked curiously, "Ying Yan, how come the house was vacated so quickly?"
Ying Yan walked to the well, turned the wooden shovel, and pulled up a wooden bucket. He took out a watermelon from it, and slowly found a kitchen knife. He cut it open on the stone table in the yard. "My grandfather left behind a lot of houses in this area. I just counted the units to which the owners belonged and went directly to them."
“I guessed they would try to refuse, but we’re not afraid of that. Anyway, there aren’t many people in our family, so three or five apartments are enough for us, and the rest of us can continue to live there. However, since the organization is returning the houses to us, they, as members of the organization, have to support us in their actions.”
“I understand that their work unit has few subsidized housing units, but since they are occupying our houses, they should pay some rent, right? This is a matter of principle. And for them, there is a loophole to exploit. Although the profit is not huge, they approved it very readily.”
"Then I'll take this opportunity to sort things out and make some minor adjustments to the tenants. I should be able to free up one unit for us to live in for now, right?"
Ke Meiyu was taken aback; she realized she had indeed been trapped by preconceived notions.
She then asked excitedly, "This is a good idea. Can this be used for other houses as well? Anyway, most of our houses will be rented out."
Ying Yan hesitated for a moment, but decided not to hide it: "That's not the case. It was already difficult enough to vacate this house. The residents of the Qin family's house are either people with many connections who are petty and like to use underhanded tricks behind people's backs, or people on welfare who are old men and women who are so difficult that they dare to hang themselves."
Ke Meiyu patted his shoulder sympathetically, "There must be more than just one or two people who are making trouble for you. Just finding them will take a lot of effort."
