Chapter 165 The Beginning is the End
"Many people choose to stay here for a while, thinking that perhaps time and distance can heal all wounds." Aunt Miao smiled: "Actually, that's not the case. Their outcomes can be divided into three categories."
"Which three?" Ye Qingning asked.
"One option is to let go of the knot in your heart and leave this place to find a new beginning. The other option is to leave this place because you can't let go of the knot in your heart, and then go to the next place to untie the knot in your heart."
"What's the other one?"
Aunt Miao looked at her gently: "Another option is to go back to the original starting point, because the starting point is also the end point."
Ye Qingning didn't quite understand; she's never been good at understanding complicated things.
Aunt Miao didn't explain much, patted her on the shoulder, and left.
The guesthouse has welcomed new guests, a lively group, who seem to be the kind of tourists Aunt Miao was talking about, just passing through.
Ye Qingning took a few sips of passion fruit tea. It was slightly bitter at first, followed by a sweet and sour taste, with a pleasant aftertaste.
Who said this juice is like love?
Ye Qingning smiled bitterly. Shouldn't love be sweet? Why does it have to be sour and bitter?
She doesn't like it.
...
When Lin Feiyan arrived in Nanshi, it was already evening. The whole city was bathed in a gentle, warm hue, and even the airport was decorated with flowers.
As the car drove along the wide road, looking at the city bathed in the sunset and filled with the fragrance of flowers, Lin Feiyan suddenly understood why Ye Qingning had come here.
It's far from Qingdao and has flowers and warmth.
Springtime all year round.
The key point is that thunderstorms are rare here, and even when it rains, it's just a light drizzle that lingers.
She was someone who was so afraid of thunderstorms, so naturally she preferred this kind of environment.
Lin Feiyan's lips twitched slightly. Did this mean that even after leaving him, she never thought of finding someone else to rely on?
Chen Chu had already booked a hotel. Only Chen Tang accompanied him on this trip. Chen Chu stayed in Qing City to handle other matters and speed up the renovation and adjustments of the new house.
Lin Feiyan decided that once he returned, he would take Ye Qingning to live in the new house. In any case, it was her birthday present, so it didn't seem to make much difference whether it was a day earlier or a day later.
After arriving at the hotel, Chen Tang continued his work, searching for any clues related to Ye Qingning.
Traffic conditions in Nanshi are particularly complicated. Chen Tang retrieved the taxi Ye Qingning was in from the surveillance footage, but then it disappeared without a trace.
He sighed helplessly: "Boss, don't rush. The traffic here is too complicated. I need to investigate step by step."
Lin Feiyan nodded: "Mm."
After arriving in Nanshi, he suddenly stopped being in a hurry. He knew that she was in this world and could not escape his grasp no matter what. This feeling was not bad.
Right now, he's wondering where Ye Qingning might have gone.
This city was undoubtedly unfamiliar to her, especially since she hadn't checked in with her ID card yet.
Unless she sleeps on the street or in some shady establishment, she has no way to survive.
He has already arranged for Chen Chu to find someone to investigate illegal hotels that do not require check-in, which is a two-pronged approach.
So there's another possibility: she might be staying at a place that doesn't require check-in and is quite safe, like a friend's house.
Lin Feiyan gently twirled her fingers; it seemed that Jian Yan was her only friend.
After a moment of contemplation, he picked up his phone and sent a message to Chen Chu, instructing him to find Jian Yan and try to find out where Ye Qingning was.
He added, "Go yourself!"
The reason he didn't look for Chen Ci was because Lin Feiyan didn't trust him.
He and Jian Yan have become quite close, and it's hard to say whether other factors are preventing the final outcome from being obtained.
...
Chen Chu got Jian Yan's contact information from Chen Ci, made a phone call, and arranged to meet at a coffee shop near the school gate.
It was dusk, and students poured out of the campus and into the streets. Chen Chu's car was stuck, unable to move forward or backward. He was stuck on a small road for a full half hour, so he arrived at the coffee shop after the agreed time.
He hurried toward the door with his car keys in hand, but his gaze inadvertently fell upon the window and he stopped in his tracks.
Jian Yan sat by the window, wearing a large black T-shirt and jeans, staring blankly out the window.
He was standing right in front of her, just across a window, but she seemed not to see him at all.
His gaze had returned to the stagnant stillness of their first meeting. His entire aura was one of dejection and lifelessness.
Chen Chu sighed slightly, stepped into the coffee shop, walked directly to Jian Yan's table, and knocked on it.
Jian Yan snapped out of her daze, turned to look at him, paused slightly for a moment, and then stood up to greet him: "Hello."
For a brief moment, Jian Yan thought she had seen Chen Ci, after all, they had equally outstanding and handsome features.
The person who arrived was dressed in a well-pressed black suit, with a meticulously tailored shirt and tie, and a calm and composed expression on his face. He was definitely not the wicked Dr. Chen Ci.
Chen Chu sat down opposite her, waved to the waiter and ordered a coffee, a milk oat sago pudding and two pasta dishes before speaking to Jian Yan.
"Haven't had dinner yet?"
He nodded briefly, his tone calm and collected: "No."
"Let's grab something to eat together then," Chen Chu said readily. "How about pasta?"
Jian Yan nodded: "Okay."
After a moment of silence, Chen Chu did not continue speaking, and Jian Yan also sat quietly, holding her coffee cup with both hands, still in a quiet and dejected state.
When the food was served, Chen Chu thoughtfully placed the knife and fork for Jian Yan: "Eat up."
Jian Yan then pushed the coffee aside, picked up a knife and fork, and began to eat the noodles.
She ate quietly, looking rather delicate and frail. Chen Chu glanced at her a couple of times and thought the pasta tasted pretty good.
