Chapter 242 Noodle Shop VVVIP
"No need, I can live at the school. The subway from the school is very convenient."
Chen Chu raised an eyebrow slightly, realizing he had forgotten about this. It seemed he still needed to make some plans.
"Okay, we'll talk about it later. Now I'll take you to eat." He pressed the elevator button, and the elevator began to descend.
Jian Yan paused for a moment, then said, "Okay, it's on you."
...
Chen Chu led Jian Yan out of the Wuyu Entertainment building but did not drive. Instead, they walked along the path next to the building: "Many delicious foods are hidden in these alleys."
He smiled and said with a warm and content expression, "My favorite way to de-stress is to find those home-style dishes that are hidden away in remote places."
Jian Yan felt a warmth in her heart and wholeheartedly agreed: "Just like the noodle shop at our school?"
“Yes.” Chen Chu said softly, “Today I’m taking you to a noodle shop again. Their braised eggplant and cucumber salad are especially delicious, and they’re a perfect match with their beef noodles.”
Jian Yan was so excited that her mouth watered: "I'm really looking forward to it."
After walking 500 meters, you'll find a small alley with many stalls selling lunch, offering a dazzling array of dishes such as fried chicken, cold dishes, and cold noodles, all emitting enticing aromas.
Amidst the bustling crowd, Chen Chu carefully protected Jian Yan, walking step by step through the throng.
Despite the sweltering heat and the crowded streets, his neatly buttoned black suit remained impeccably fastened.
Jianyan looked up at him and asked, "Aren't you hot?"
Chen Chu smiled: "I'm used to it."
Jian Yan gave a thumbs up: "Looks like being a domineering CEO isn't easy either."
Soon, at the end of the food street, a clean and elegant-looking noodle shop appeared before us, with a simple black glass door and a large floor-to-ceiling window through which we could see a wooden table and plenty of green plants inside.
It gives people a refreshing feeling.
"This is it," Chen Chu said.
The two pushed open the door and entered. The cool air that greeted them made Jian Yan feel refreshed.
The owner greeted Chen Chu warmly: "You're here? We've reserved a private room for you upstairs... Not bad today, finally you're not all alone."
Chen Chu smiled and pulled Jian Yan to his side: "The usual three dishes, plus some peanuts, and an extra bowl of beef noodles."
"Okay."
After ordering, Chen Chu led Jian Yan upstairs. It was peak dining time, and the restaurant was bustling with activity and full of lively atmosphere.
The upstairs private room was very simple, with just a table and a few potted plants. The air conditioning was on full blast, and you could see the view downstairs from your seat.
"Looks like you come here to eat often."
"No, not really. I'm usually very busy, so I eat at the company cafeteria most of the time." Chen Chu said while pouring her water, "I usually send a message to the restaurant owner before I come, so this private room is basically my private room, only I use it."
"You can do that?" Jianyan asked. "How did you do that?"
To have a private room in such a tiny restaurant where every inch of space is precious!
Chen Chu smiled and said, "Just pay the rent and rent it out."
In short: "...I don't understand the world of the super-rich!"
Soon the door to the private room was pushed open, and the dishes were served one by one. Jian Yan didn't ask why the food was served so quickly, after all, Chen Chu was a VVVIP who had paid rent, so he should have this kind of benefit.
The portions at this restaurant are huge; I don't know if it's because of the VVVIP status or if it's just like that.
Braised eggplant, cucumber salad, peanuts, and a complimentary plate of pickled vegetables, plus two bowls of beef noodles—a table full of food.
The beef noodles are incredibly generous, with large chunks of braised beef piled high on top.
Jian Yan swallowed hard: "Then I won't be polite."
Chen Chu took off his suit jacket, rolled up the cuffs of his black shirt, and looked ready to feast: "Eat up."
Almost simultaneously, they both reached for the chili sauce jar. Jian Yan's hand was below, so Chen Chu actually grasped her hand.
A warm, smooth touch came from the back of her hand. Jian Yan paused for a moment and withdrew her hand: "You go first."
Chen Chu coughed awkwardly, "You go first. This chili sauce is very spicy, so put less in."
"It's okay, I just like spicy food."
Jian Yan took the chili sauce and scooped out three full spoonfuls; the spicy and numbing aroma instantly filled the air.
Chen Chu raised an eyebrow, took the chili sauce Jian Yan handed him, and added three spoonfuls of it.
The two enjoyed their meal immensely. After wiping the fine sweat from their foreheads with tissues, Jian Yan finally understood why Chen Chu had taken off his coat while eating.
Because that secret-recipe chili sauce is really spicy and incredibly satisfying.
Chen Chu ordered two iced drinks. After eating the spicy noodles, taking a couple of sips of the drinks made him feel like the whole world was wonderful.
"How is it? Is it delicious?" Chen Chu asked.
“Hmm.” Jian Yan smiled: “When I treated Chen Ci to dinner last time, he said you liked noodles, and now it seems that’s true.”
Both of them were stunned after saying that.
Chen Chu was the first to react, and he said with a smile, "Aci is the opposite; he doesn't like the things I like to eat."
Jian Yan also adjusted her mood: "That's strange. Aren't you twins? Logically speaking, your tastes should be the same."
Chen Chu shrugged, his eyes dimming slightly: "Maybe it's because my family was poor when I was little. Although Aci is younger than me, he is more sensible. He always puts me first in every aspect of life, from food and clothing to shelter and transportation. At the time, I really thought he didn't like me, until one time..."
Chen Chu's eyes were deep as she drifted into memories: "Once, Mom cooked a bowl of poached egg noodles for our birthdays. Chen Ci said he didn't like it, and Mom got angry and just gave me a pair of chopsticks..."
Chen Chu lowered his eyes and smiled: "I was really silly. I ate most of the bowl of noodles, and there was only a little bit left at the bottom of the bowl. Just then, a friend came to visit me, so I went out to play."
His smile was tinged with bitterness: "I only realized my shoes were broken halfway home, and when I turned back, I accidentally saw Aci adding hot water to the bottom of that bowl, and then drinking all the noodle soup..."
Chen Chu smiled somewhat helplessly: "You tell me, wasn't I stupid? My first reaction was to rush in and confront him... Anyway, from then on, he never ate noodles again, and he disliked everything I liked, as if he were under some kind of magical curse..."
After he finished speaking, Chen Chu remained silent for a long time, and Jian Yan could see a deep emotion in his eyes.
I guess everyone feels this way when they reminisce about the past.
There will be many emotions such as regret, remorse, emotion, and relief, but in the end, we still have to look forward.
Jian Yan knew that Chen Chu was just expressing his emotions at this moment, and she didn't need to say anything; she could just listen quietly.
It wasn't until he had almost finished his iced drink that Chen Chu finally came to his senses, and his calm and composed demeanor returned: "Aci spends about half of each year doing research abroad, and during that time, apart from Fei Ye, no one can contact him, including me."
