Chapter 537 Extra - Just Because Dusk Is Approaching

Shu Tong quietly added, "It's just nearing dusk."

Chen Ci glanced at her sideways and smiled, "No, it's just because it's almost dusk."

Shu Tong was taken aback for a moment: "Huh?"

Chen Ci's gaze remained fixed on the magnificent sunset on the horizon, a slight smile playing on his lips, his tone light yet resolute.

"If it weren't for the fact that it's near dusk, how could there be such a sunset?"

Shu Tong was stunned for a moment, and seemed to be inexplicably persuaded.

The slight sense of loss that had been lingering in her mind was quickly replaced, and she found the scenery before her to be precious and beautiful.

After watching silently for a while, Chen Ci looked away and said, "Let's go, let's eat, or the food will get cold."

"Okay." Shu Tong nodded and followed Chen Ci into the gauze tent.

The red candles on the table, the flower petals scattered on the floor, the meticulously plated dishes, and the wine in the glass glasses...

All of this made four words flash through Shu Tong's mind: "candlelight dinner".

She paused for a moment: "Should we wait for my sister?"

"She wasn't feeling well, so I told her to go home and rest."

Chen Ci offered an explanation, then very naturally pulled out a chair for Shu Tong and helped her sit down.

Shu Tong watched as the tall, elegant man strode to his seat, lifted his robe, and sat down with a graceful and dashing movement.

Her heartstrings were easily plucked again, producing a soft, melodious chime.

With the belief that "since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it," Shu Tong began her "candlelight dinner" for the day.

A perfectly cooked steak sits on a white plate beside me, along with a sharp knife and a wooden fork.

Further on were wasabi shrimp balls, grilled lamb chops, garlic shrimp, vegetable salad, two servings of meat sauce noodles, and several small desserts.

No matter how you look at it, it looks like a standard Western meal.

Shu Tong couldn't help but have some complicated thoughts.

I don't know who prepared this meal, from the setup to the dishes, but every detail shows that the person who prepared it is no ordinary person.

However, now is clearly not the time to consider that. Chen Ci across from him had already raised his glass: "It's just a casual meal today, so don't worry too much about it. Just eat and drink. Also, let me toast you first."

He made it clear from the start that it was a casual remark, so Shu Tong couldn't refuse the wine glass he offered. She clinked glasses with him across the distance and took a sip of wine.

It has a smooth and fragrant taste, and leaves a lingering aftertaste.

"It's good wine."

“Of course. They’re all aged wines.” Chen Ci picked up his knife and fork and asked with a smile, “When you came to the manor, the matron should have taught you how to use a knife and fork, right?”

"Of course." Shu Tong picked up the knife and fork with a proud look, her movements were also standard.

So the two began their dinner with some aged wine.

Perhaps because the aged wine was smooth and sweet, and there were no other drinks on the table, Shu Tong unconsciously drank more wine.

By the time she realized something was wrong, she was already feeling dizzy and lightheaded, as if she were floating on clouds.

She rested her chin on her hand and looked at the well-mannered, elegant, and handsome man opposite her. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, and her rationality vanished in an instant.

She chuckled softly twice: "Chen Ci, why do you want to be the Crown Prince?"

Chen Ci lifted his eyelids to look at her, and seeing her drunken, hazy appearance, he raised an eyebrow: "What if I weren't the Crown Prince?"

"Then..." Shu Tong swallowed hard, looking at the man's handsome features, "Then maybe I can be with you."

Chen Ci paused in his eating of shrimp: "Why not now?"
