Chapter 557 Extra - Obeying the Rules
Ye Zhiyuan took the medicine directly to Chen Shi's room. Through the light seeping through the window, he guessed that Chen Shi should be in the room.
He raised his hand and knocked on the door. Sure enough, Chen Shi's voice came from inside the room: "I'm asleep. Let's talk about it tomorrow."
Ye Zhiyuan stood still: "It's me, open the door."
Upon hearing Ye Zhiyuan's voice, Chen Shi suddenly got out of bed, tidied her appearance and clothes, and quickly walked to the door to open it.
As expected, Ye Zhiyuan was standing outside the door.
However, the man was also holding a bowl of dark, murky medicine.
Chen Shi took a step back, resisting the urge to cover her nose: "Brother Ye, what do you want with me?"
Ye Zhiyuan glanced at her, then shifted his gaze to the courtyard, noticing a pavilion a few steps away: "Shall we go to the pavilion to talk?"
Chen Shi nodded: "Mm."
Ye Zhiyuan stepped forward, and Chen Shi followed closely behind.
Ye Zhiyuan placed the medicine on the square table and watched Chen Shi sit down before sitting down himself, one person away from her.
Chen Shi fiddled with the ribbons on her clothes as she softly said, "What do you want to talk to me about? Don't talk on speakerphone when it comes to taking medicine. I don't want to drink it; it's too bitter."
Ye Zhiyuan glanced at the medicine bowl: "It's not for drinking medicine."
Chen Shi seemed relieved: "What is it?"
"His Highness the Crown Prince spoke to me today. He wanted me to persuade you to leave the clinic and return to the palace, where it is safer."
"I'm not going back." Chen Shi insisted, "I already said I'll be wherever you are..."
When facing Ye Zhiyuan, Chen Shi was always direct and straightforward.
Since they'll be husband and wife anyway, and she likes him, why hide it?
For no apparent reason, Ye Zhiyuan felt as if something had struck his heart, and his heartbeat went off-beat.
Fortunately, it was dusk and the garden was not yet lit, so the light was dim; otherwise, Chen Shi would have been able to see that Ye Zhiyuan seemed to be blushing.
He coughed lightly: "No, it's dangerous here. We've all taken preventative medication and aren't afraid of infection, but you're different."
Chen Shi blinked: "You really are still worried about me..."
Ye Zhiyuan hadn't expected her to bring up this topic again, and he abruptly steered the conversation back on track: "In any case, you can't stay here."
"I have to stay here..." Chen Shi insisted, "I'm not going to the ward, I'm just doing logistics, brewing medicine and running errands, how could I get infected?"
“You may not go to the wards yourself, but the people you come into contact with will go to the wards…”
"Didn't you say they all drank preventative herbal medicine, so there shouldn't be any problems..."
Ye Zhiyuan was taken aback, almost falling for her trap: "You're right, those who have taken the medicine won't have any problems, but they will bring out the illness, so it's very dangerous for you if you haven't taken the medicine!"
Chen Shi opened her mouth, but stubbornly refused: "I just don't want to eat it, it's too bitter..."
"If you want to stay, you have to eat," Ye Zhiyuan said, his attitude resolute.
Chen Shi looked at the bowl of medicine, then at Ye Zhiyuan, pouting and looking unhappy: "In the end, you came to me just to make me take my medicine."
“No, I’m advising you to leave, but if you insist on staying, then you must abide by the rules here,” Ye Zhiyuan said, enunciating each word clearly.
Chen Shi felt inexplicably wronged: "Just to make me follow the rules? Don't you have any selfish motives? Aren't you afraid I'll get infected?"
Ye Zhiyuan could understand the meaning of her complaint and analyze what she wanted to hear.
But I just had this stubborn streak in my heart, and I just didn't want to say it.
“You are a princess, so you should know the importance of rules even more.” Ye Zhiyuan’s expression was serious: “No matter where you are, you must abide by the rules.”
