Chapter 579 Extra - Sweet Times
Although she thought that way, the man actually started chopping vegetables very seriously.

After Chen Ci finished chopping the scallions, ginger slices, and garlic cloves, he put down the knife. Only then did Shu Tong, whose hands were now free, not give in so easily.
She turned around and hugged the man's waist, looking up at him without saying a word, gazing at him with her affectionate eyes.
Chen Ci couldn't stand this and her ears immediately turned red: "Why...why are you looking at me like that?"
Shu Tong raised her chin slightly: "What? You're allowed to flirt with me, but I can't flirt with you?"
Chen Ci chuckled, and after laughing, he leaned down and kissed her lips, this time finally conquering her without any mercy.
He only pulled away from Shu Tong's lips after kissing her until her hands and feet were weak. He pressed his forehead against hers and softly retorted, "What? You're allowed to flirt with me, but I'm not allowed to resist?"
Shu Tong, her face flushed and puffed up with anger, hid in the man's arms.
Listening to his strong heartbeat and smelling the intense scent of his hormones, Shu Tong felt very at ease.
Even though these peaceful days are counting down, they are still the happiest daily routine she has experienced since coming into this world.
Lunch was prepared amidst the two of them playfully bickering.
There was spicy fish, fried shrimp, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, and sweet and sour pork ribs. Finally, to make up the four dishes and one soup, Chen Ci also made an egg drop soup.
A sumptuous lunch was served at the long table under the swing set. The two sat facing each other, enjoying the gentle breeze and the crisp autumn air – a truly pleasant lunchtime.
After lunch, Haitang had someone clear the table, and Shutong and Chenci sat under the swing set and chatted for a while.
The warm sun shone on him, and his beloved was beside him. Chen Ci rested his head on Shu Tong's shoulder, closed his eyes leisurely, and soon his even breathing could be heard.
The man fell asleep.
Shu Tong chuckled softly, hugging a pillow and gently rocking on the swing, letting the man sleep soundly on her shoulder.
She slept for an hour until Tang Ming rushed over and was stunned by what he saw.
Noticing the anxiety in Tang Ming's eyes, Shu Tong asked him in a low voice, "What's wrong?"
Tang Ming bowed and said, "The Crown Princess sent word that Brother Chu Song has a fever and needs Your Highness to go and see him."
If it were anything else, Shu Tong might have asked Tang Ming to wait, but since it concerned Chu Song, she raised her hand and gently patted Chen Ci's face: "Ci, wake up."
Half-asleep, Chen Ci grabbed Shu Tong's hand and kissed it, without opening his eyes, saying, "Stop fooling around, let me sleep a little longer."
"Chu Song has a fever," Shu Tong said directly. "You should go and see him."
Chen Ci immediately opened his eyes: "You have a fever?"
Tang Ming hadn't yet recovered from the shock of Chen Ci kissing Shu Tong's hand, and upon hearing this, he simply nodded blankly: "Yes, he has a fever."
Chen Ci suddenly stood up: "What happened? When did the fire start?"
Tang Ming then calmed down: "Her Majesty said that about an hour ago, she had tried some methods to lower the fever, but with little effect. That's why she wanted Your Highness to go and take a look. However, I have already sent the imperial physician over first."
Chen Ci straightened his clothes and turned to Shu Tong, saying, "Then I'll go take a look over there first."
“Go ahead.” Shu Tong also said solemnly, “Don’t worry, A Shi also had a fever when she was injured, but she stabilized later.”
Chen Ci nodded and reached out to rub Shu Tong's head: "Wait for me to come back."
Shu Tong felt a warmth in her heart: "Mm."

Shu Tong stood up and went to greet him: "How is Chu Song?"

Shu Tong nodded and then asked, "Have you eaten?"
Chen Ci shook his head: "No."
Shu Tong smiled and said, "Luckily, I prepared food for you."
She instructed Haitang to serve the dishes, then took Chen Ci to wash his hands. When they returned to the flower hall, they saw that hot pot ingredients had already been set out on the square table.
Chen Ci smiled at her: "How did you know I wanted to eat hot pot?"
"Because I want to eat it too."
Shu Tong pulled him over to sit down, then waved for Haitang to dismiss the crowd. The large flower hall was left with only the dining table filled with the aroma of hot pot and the two people sitting opposite each other.
Shu Tong cooked some vegetables and sliced meat, and said in a hearty tone, "Don't be shy, make yourself at home."
Chen Ci looked up at her and said, "Alright, then I must thank you for your hospitality."
Shu Tong tilted her head: "You're welcome. My willingness is priceless."
The two exchanged a smile and then began their dinner.
The lanterns hanging at the entrance of the flower hall were already lit, candles were lit throughout the room, and there were also some fresh flowers picked in the afternoon, creating a warm atmosphere.
The two ate and chatted for a while, and then Shu Tong asked about the story of Ye Qingning and Lin Feiyan.
"Is it really possible to escape the storyline? How did Qingning manage to do it?"
