Chapter 4 What did you call her?
"Didn't we agree to take care of you wholeheartedly? Of course I, Ye Qingning, will keep my word."
She had barely finished speaking when she noticed a deep sneer on the man's face.
Recalling the original owner's past deeds, Ye Qingning scratched her head a little embarrassedly: "Anyway, starting from today."
Seeing that Lin Feiyan still hadn't moved, Ye Qingning didn't care anymore and simply picked up her chopsticks: "I'll eat first as a sign of respect."
Seeing her enjoying her meal, Lin Feiyan's gaze returned to the dining table, which contained four ordinary home-style dishes, arranged without any particular method, showing that the person who cooked them was very casual.
He eventually picked up the tomato and egg dish with his chopsticks, and the taste made him pause for a moment.
It tastes like home cooking.
Unlike what you get at a restaurant, this one is salty, but thankfully the eggs are tender and the tomatoes are very juicy.
Afterwards, he tried steamed fish and garlic bok choy, both of which tasted pretty good, and had a hidden flavor deep in his heart that easily whetted his appetite.
After finishing a fairly satisfactory lunch, Lin Feiyan elegantly wiped his mouth with a napkin, his tone still cold: "Ye Qingning, I don't care what you're up to, the Lin residence is not a place for you to act recklessly. I advise you to be sensible and stay put, otherwise don't blame me for being impolite."
This was the first full meal Ye Qingning had eaten since transmigrating to this world, and she even let out a burp in such a serious setting, which was quite incongruous.
"belch!"
Ye Qingning covered her mouth and nodded: "Yes, I will stay here obediently."
Lin Feiyan glanced at her, seemingly surprised that she was so obedient, but he was too lazy to study her change and simply started his wheelchair and left the restaurant.
Ye Qingning breathed a sigh of relief and instructed Xiao Cui to clear the table: "Come with me to the supermarket this afternoon."
"Okay," Xiao Cui replied.
Ye Qingning quickly changed her clothes and went downstairs. She called Xiao Cui, and the two of them took a taxi straight to the supermarket.
At four o'clock in the afternoon, the usual coffee was not delivered, and the house was eerily quiet.
Lin Feiyan frowned slightly, started his wheelchair and left the study. The huge house was empty. Not only was Ye Qingning nowhere to be found, but Xiao Cui was also gone.
Lin Feiyan clenched his fist and pulled out his phone to call Chen Chu: "I want the Ye family bankrupt tomorrow, and Ye Qingning's worthless life too!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the door was pushed open, and through the floor-to-ceiling window he saw Ye Qingning come in carrying two shopping bags. The bags seemed quite heavy, and she walked rather slowly.
"Brother Fei, what happened to Miss Ye?" Chen Chu's voice came through.
"It's alright now," Lin Feiyan said coldly. "I'll spare her this time!"
Soon, Ye Qingning and Xiao Cui each carried two shopping bags into the door. Ye Qingning sat down on the shoe-changing stool by the door, rubbing her sore arms and complaining of being tired.
She had no idea that she had just narrowly escaped death.
She looked up, her gaze meeting the man's deep, cool eyes, and paused for a moment: "Are you done with your work?"
Lin Feiyan glanced at her indifferently and said coldly, "From now on, let me know before you go out."
Ye Qingning nodded: "Oh, by the way, what do you want to eat tonight? I bought a lot of groceries."
Lin Feiyan glanced at the overflowing shopping bag and said, "Whatever, just make me a cup of coffee first."
"Okay." Ye Qingning replied and instructed Xiao Cui, "You sort and put the things in the refrigerator. Keep that black-boned chicken; I'll make soup with it later."
Xiao Cui rubbed her sore arms and nodded: "Yes, madam."
Lin Feiyan's wheelchair suddenly stopped and turned around. The man's cold eyes stared at Xiao Cui: "What did you call her?"
