Chapter 15 The Wrong Beast's Mischief

Song Tingwan confirmed it.

She smiled at them, then took a light step and stepped heavily out of her hiding place.

The mythical beast that feeds only on spiritual plants contains the power of the five elements, which do not mix, so it has no spiritual power. It is pure and without impurities from head to toe, making it a top-quality tonic.

Because this beast is on the verge of extinction, cultivators in the cultivation world have been prohibited from hunting and eating it.

However, this beast is unruly and loves to steal spiritual plants, and it prefers to frequent places where healers and cultivators are present.

Furthermore, this beast likes to transform into a healer to trick spiritual plants into giving them to him for alchemy, only to chew them up as soon as they're done.

The aggrieved party was left holding the remaining traces of the medicinal power from the Five Elements, weeping uncontrollably.

They love to lure desperate people away, offering up rare spiritual herbs that their families have spent their entire fortunes to buy, only to have them stuffed into the mouths of these mythical beasts right in front of them.

How cruel.

The mythical beasts were even aware of the cultivation world's rule against killing them, so they only swindled people in ordinary cities. Ordinary people reported that the mythical beasts had deceived and ruined countless families, but the cultivation world mostly ignored them.

Song Tingwan had encountered him several times during her travels, but on that occasion, when the city belonged to the Wenjian Sect, she saw the sect's senior brother being personally greeted by a group of people. He drew his sword and, without changing his expression, swung it, killing the monster and sending it to its victim.

At that time, she felt that the Sword Inquiry Sect was quite good.

.

Seeing Song Tingwan walk out alone with a bad expression, how could the others just stand by and watch?

They weren't entirely clear on the situation, but they were teammates.

Thick vines blocked the entrance to the cave. Song Tingwan glanced at Wan Qiji and said, "Chop it up."

Without asking any questions, Wan Qiji deftly pulled down the cloth covering the knife, swung the blood-red giant sword forward with a heavy slash, the blade was sharp, and the vines instantly snapped with a crackling sound. He then cleared the way and made room for Song Tingwan.

"grumble--"

The small animal in the haystack thrashed about a few times, then pressed its paws against its head and hid in the haystack, trembling with fear.

The hay on top of the haystack was falling off with a soft, rustling sound, which was quite amusing.

This time, without her permission, Pei Xiang'an unleashed a palm strike, scattering the haystack and revealing a strange little beast with its rear end sticking out and its head covered.

Seemingly sensing that something was amiss, the beast cautiously released its claws and turned back in confusion.

The five people crossed their arms and looked at it menacingly, clearly not to be trifled with.

"Chirp chirp!"

The little animal was so scared it wanted to run away, but the cave was so small and the entrance was blocked by them, so it had nowhere to run.

With a thud, the mythical beast knelt down on all fours and bowed to the five people, chirping, "Chirp chirp chirp, chirp chirp chirp—"

A bunch of incomprehensible animal language.

Song Tingwan twitched her lips, and spiritual energy condensed at her fingertips. The sharp, cone-like spiritual energy struck the beast's feet with a snap, startling the little creature into crying loudly.

"I don't understand, shapeshifter."

Clearly, she had little patience for such deceitful people, and Baili Xijiang and the others had never seen her with a calm and displeased expression.

Her appearance really does resemble Song Siyao.

The beast let out a pitiful whimper and then transformed into human form right before their eyes.

This startled Baili Xijiang and his three companions.

"A spirit beast that can transform?! Let's go, you guys go first, I'll cover you." Baili Xijiang was terrified and hurriedly pushed his teammates towards the cave entrance.

He's a dragon, after all; his skin is thick and he can withstand a few blows.

A spirit beast that can speak human language is roughly equivalent to a cultivator at the Golden Core stage, while one that can transform into human form needs to cultivate to the next level, the Nascent Soul stage.

They were all at the Foundation Establishment stage; a single swing of their swords could kill them.

The others, besides Song Tingwan, were also terrified. They didn't know that Baili Xijiang was a dragon. They were surprised that someone who was usually so carefree was trying to block their way. Wan Qiji raised his broadsword and stepped forward, his tall and burly body completely blocking them.

"You guys go first, the body cultivator can handle it."

But neither side was willing to back down. Pei Xiang'an, her face pale, desperately racked her brains, trying to think of any of the many martial arts techniques she had learned that could be used.

Even Qin Xi gritted her teeth and rummaged through her spatial bracelet to find the most suitable magical artifact given to her by her elders.

The teammates were thrown into chaos.

Song Tingwan was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing.

"Don't panic, the mythical beasts don't have spiritual power; it's a natural talent of their race."

The group, who had been preparing for battle, stopped in their tracks in a daze. They glanced at the bewildered beast that had transformed into an old man with an air of otherworldly grace, and then at Song Tingwan, who was watching them with a relaxed and cheerful expression. Only then did they all breathe a sigh of relief.

"I was so scared! I thought we were going to die here." Baili Xijiang patted his chest, his legs so weak he sat down on the ground.

Qin Xi's wildly beating heart finally calmed down, and she couldn't help but tease him: "I think you're quite brave, daring to stand in front of a Nascent Soul stage spirit beast."

Wan Qiji silently sheathed his sword. Pei Xiang'an breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that he didn't have to die. Even though his meridians were shattered, he hadn't lived enough yet.

Baili Xijiang, who was lying on the ground, hadn't quite come to his senses yet. He didn't confront Qin Xi for a moment, but instead scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly: "Well, I can't just let you die in front of me, can I?"

Although in the eyes of the dragons he was still a little dragon cub, he could withstand a few beatings from a Nascent Soul cultivator when he transformed into his original form, since he was often beaten by his parents and elders in the clan.

Qin Xi was taken aback when she heard this. She looked at Baili Xijiang a few more times and suddenly found him a little more pleasing to the eye than usual.

Seeing them lower their guard, Song Tingwan felt a touch of emotion as well.

When danger struck, not a single person abandoned their teammate; they are all such good people.

"It's my fault. I was so angry that I didn't explain things clearly to you. I'm really sorry." She sighed, annoyed that she had been too focused on beating up the monster.
