Chapter 37 Monsters

The lantern festival lasted until very late that day.

The crowd gradually dispersed as dawn broke.

Song Tingwan and her friends drank sweet fruit wine and made a ruckus at the restaurant all night.

As soon as she stepped out of the restaurant at dawn, many vendors were still reluctant to pack up their stalls. Seeing that Song Tingwan didn't have a lamp in her hand, they enthusiastically called out to her.

The group swayed and staggered, their playful antics ending in dejection. Baili Xijiang draped himself over Wanqiji's shoulder, letting the body cultivator drag him along in silence and helplessness.

Qin Xi's face was flushed from drinking, and he held onto Song Tingwan's hand tightly, unwilling to let go.

"This fairy is so beautiful, would you like a dragon lantern to accompany you?"

"My Fairy Lantern is the perfect match for a fairy. It has a radiant halo and is much more fairy-like than your dragon lantern!"

Several vendors, while admiring Song Tingwan's beauty, also teased each other.

Qin Xi looked at them blankly for a moment, then slowly took out a few spirit stones. "Give them all to us. Stop arguing. It's too noisy."

"Oh, oh, oh, alright fairy, may everything go smoothly for you!"

Song Tingwan stuffed the spirit stones back into her hand and paid for them herself. "Take them back to Xiaoyuer and his mother, and also to my little tiger. It should be breaking through in a few days."

Qin Xi ignored her and blinked before slowly taking her arm again.

"What about Master himself? You don't want any of the things we bought," Baili Xijiang muttered unhappily.

Upon hearing this, Qin Xi looked at her expectantly.

Song Tingwan smiled shyly, "I want to wait for A Yao to choose together."

The three understood and smiled helplessly at her: "Wan'er is truly the best older sister. Our little sister is so lucky."

She smiled gently, "My Ayao is great too, she deserves it."

"Alright, alright, my master is such a sissy, I, her disciple, am not even as good as a single strand of her hair."

"Waaaaah, even you, my disciple, can't compare to me. What are Ah Ji and I going to do?!"

Baili Xijiang and Qin Xi, slightly tipsy, started fooling around. Wan Qiji, the only one who was still relatively sober, quickly helped Baili Xijiang up, saying, "Family is important, but we are also important as friends."

The only reason he remained sober was because the spirit wine was too expensive, and he was too embarrassed to drink more than a few sips.

He wasn't good at saying comforting words, but in his heart, these few friends were more important than his indifferent family members.

The dark-skinned cultivator touched the robes they had urged him to buy and gave a barely perceptible smile.

He wanted to become a very strong person so that he could give all the good things he obtained to others.

"Waaaa, Wan'er, tell me, is what Aji said right?"

Song Tingwan dared not disagree, and quickly echoed with amusement.

The four of them strolled leisurely down the street. The closer they got to the Sword Inquiry Sect, the more stalls there were that hadn't closed down. They hoped that the disciples who hadn't made it in time could buy a couple of lamps.

There were indeed quite a few people.

Wan Qiji helped Baili Xijiang walk ahead, glancing back at the two girls every now and then. There were many people around, one was drunk and confused, and the other was beautiful but frail. He was afraid that he hadn't kept a close eye on them.

Even while supporting Baili Xijiang, this man was still quite noisy, constantly clamoring to buy a fire-breathing lantern. When he saw a dragon-shaped lantern, he snorted angrily, saying things like, "Why not make a black dragon lantern? Does he look down on me?"

Exhausted, Wan Qiji pulled Baili Xijiang back from his rage and impending attack. He turned around—

The two girls have disappeared.

"Miss Song! Qin Xi!" He was startled and quickly looked around, hoping to spot someone.

"What's wrong? What's wrong? Why are you calling me Master and that annoying brat?" Baili Xijiang, who was leaning against him, suddenly jolted and stared blankly as he looked around.

"I don't know if you've lost your way! Behave yourself, I'll go back and look for you."

Before Wanqiji could say anything more, he slung the person over his shoulder and quickly headed back to find them.

His movements were so effortless that Baili Xijiang was stunned on his back.

The giant blade was so painful that for a moment he felt Wan Qiji didn't treat him like a human being.

No, even if he were a dragon, he couldn't just toss him behind him like a bag and call it a day.

"Wait a minute! Who's missing? My master and the others are gone?"

With a slap on his forehead, Baili Xijiang jumped off him and dragged him back.

They hadn't run two steps when they were stopped by someone.

"Who do you say is missing?"

The female cultivator, dressed in a black outfit, had a dark and sullen face as she frowned and questioned him.

At the same time, she was also carrying a blue gauze lantern, with flowing gold clouds and a faint veil surrounding the lantern.

The luxurious, ethereal lamps clashed with her attire.

Wan Qiji turned around, "Miss Song and Qin Xi, but perhaps they didn't keep up—"

Before he finished speaking, Song Siyao had already turned around and started searching in the crowd.

His furrowed brows turned into displeasure when someone patted him on the back.

"What are you doing here, Ayao?"

The woman was supporting the drowsy, round-eyed girl; her features were beautiful and gentle.

Faced with her still-present displeasure and ferocious aura, Song Tingwan was taken aback, then smiled and said, "Who made you angry? Tell your older sister, and I'll get revenge for you."

Song Siyao breathed a sigh of relief, as did Wan Qiji and the other person who had followed her.

"We were so scared! Thank goodness it wasn't lost."

As soon as they arrived, Song Siyao belatedly noticed the smell of alcohol.

"Have you been drinking?"

She asked the question "you," but her gaze was fixed on her elder sister.

Song Tingwan smiled and shook her head, "We only had a small cup each and took a sip. The spirit juice we drank afterwards only had a slight alcohol taste."

As she spoke, she gestured for her sister to look at Qin Xi beside her, and Baili Xijiang, who was now being supported by Wanqiji after the crisis was over.
