Chapter 9 Returning to the Sect

As soon as Baili Xijiang arrived, he heard Qin Xi's sarcastic remarks. He glared at her, then looked at Song Tingwan with delight.

"Master! You're finally back!"

He wept with joy. He had only known his master for two days when the master left. For the past month, he had been studying the pill formula his master had given him, trying to refine pills in the furnace.

He tried refining the elixir many times but failed to form it.

Unexpectedly, this thought almost caused him to miss the deadline for submitting the assessment pills.

He rushed over and carelessly handed over the two people's pills as incomplete pills that had failed to condense.

"So, I'm going to Class C to report back from leave now, right?" Song Tingwan sighed, her younger sister was so easy to take care of, but her new apprentice was so reckless.

No wonder he's the most rebellious and annoying little black dragon in the dragon race.

"Hehe, sorry Master—"

"Wait... wait! Why do you call her Master?" Qin Xi looked at the frozen Baili Xijiang with a puzzled expression, then at Song Tingwan who was smiling calmly.

Song Tingwan's eyes flickered slightly. Seeing Baili Xijiang scratching his head and looking up at the sky in a guilty manner, she smiled and winked at Qin Xi: "Baili lost the bet with me, so from now on he has to call me Master."

Sure enough, as soon as the teasing remark was made, Qin Xi covered her mouth with schadenfreude: "Oh~ Baili has become your little apprentice, so shouldn't you call me that too—"

"Uncle-Master?"

Because of his uncle's instructions, Baili Xijiang became inexplicably more obedient and restrained in front of Song Tingwan, but he was different with Qin Xi.

He laughed in anger and chased after Qin Xi to beat her up.

The two of them ran around her playfully, and Song Tingwan had no choice but to stop them.

"Alright, you guys go to the dining hall first, I'll go find the elder who teaches Class C."

Baili Xijiang, who was playing around, stopped and reminded her, "Our class's instructor is surnamed Pei, and he's very fierce. Be careful when you go there."

Song Tingwan turned around and nodded.

"After you return from the dining hall, go to Fuqu Peak Waterfall. I need to talk to you about something."

Upon meeting Song Tingwan's gaze, Baili Xijiang inexplicably trembled and hurriedly replied, "Okay."

.

Fuqu Peak, School.

After Elder Pei reprimanded the remaining disciples one by one, they all ran off in a flash, leaving him alone to leisurely pack his things.

Suddenly, footsteps were heard. Elder Pei's aged eyes turned slowly and he saw the graceful young woman approaching.

look unfamiliar.

"Greetings, Elder Pei."

Song Tingwan bowed.

In the cultivation world, everyone has a long lifespan, and the vast majority choose to remain in their youth.

Aside from personal hobbies, the old cultivators are those whose lifespan is less than a hundred years.

Elder Pei had gray hair and an old-looking face.

"What is it?"

Seeing that the disciple was not someone he knew, the old man continued to tidy up the spiritual herbs and flowers around him without paying any attention.

"My name is Song Tingwan, a student from Class C. I'm here to cancel my leave."

Elder Pei paused, then his serious gaze fell on her.

Why did you skip class?

Song Tingwan raised her eyebrows slightly and said politely, "I have some important private matters to attend to. I will definitely listen attentively when I return and ask the elders for guidance. Please don't think I'm bothering you."

Upon hearing this, Elder Pei's expression softened slightly, but he still said with a cold and stern face, "If it weren't for the sect leader's little disciple personally asking for leave for you, you wouldn't be allowed to stay in the outer sect if you asked for a month's leave as soon as you entered the Sword Inquiry Sect."

“You have broken the rule. If you do not study properly, I will personally expel you from Fuqu Peak and apologize to the sect leader.”

Song Tingwan smiled inwardly and respectfully bowed.

"This disciple will heed the elder's instructions."

The old man's empty gaze lingered on her for a moment before he coldly waved his hand.

.

After the peak selection assessment, the disciples will move into the outer gate of their respective peaks, and their identity tags will now display credentials indicating they are disciples of their respective peaks.

While Baili Xijiang was still in the dining hall, Song Tingwan went to check into the outer gate of Fuqu Peak.

They went to the steward's office first, and only after receiving permission did they go to choose the remaining rooms in the outer dormitory.

It is extremely remote.

That's fine too.

Song Tingwan chose a spot near the cliff edge, where she could hear the sound of the waterfall from the cliffside when she opened the window.

She let the little bird with the mustard seed bracelet out to play, and after arranging the room, it was time for the appointed time.

The little tiger nestled on the cloud pillow, roaring and refusing to come down.

Helpless, Song Tingwan tapped its head and let it stay in the room. After setting up a barrier, she slowly made her way to the waterfall.

Today, I mainly want to check on how well my young apprentice is refining pills and point out the problems with the pill formula he's using.

The waterfall is cool and pleasant, making it a favorite spot for many disciples of Fuqu Peak to meditate and daydream.

Of course, there are also many couples here who are being affectionate.

Song Tingwan found a place to sit down, and soon they arrived at Baili Xijiang.

"Master! Are you going to teach me alchemy today?!"

He was impatient and stared at her longingly.

Song Tingwan calmly brewed tea without saying a word.

Baili Xijiang looked at her with suspicion, but didn't dare to say anything. His intuition told him that Song Tingwan was not the same as her usual good-tempered self.

“It seems we haven’t had a proper conversation since the day I became your disciple.”

She poured him a cup of floral tea, her eyes calm, devoid of the gentle smile she usually showed them.

"You have never seen me refine pills, nor have you ever seen any pills produced by me. You became my disciple simply because of a few words between Shen Zhuochuan and me."

"Are you convinced? We're both just beginners."

Her voice overlapped with the hollow sound of the waterfall hitting the bottom, and Baili Xijiang couldn't understand why she asked the same question again.

But Baili Xijiang has one advantage: if you don't understand something, you don't think about it anymore and just let it go.

He picked up his teacup, sat up straighter, and said, "Part of the reason is that we are friends. I feel that you are different from ordinary disciples, but I can't quite put my finger on it."
