Chapter 13 Waiting for a Rabbit to Fall into a Trap

"What did you see?"

At Pei Xiang'an's prompting, Baili Xijiang and the village chief walked ahead, casually inquiring about more details, while he lagged behind a few steps, asking them if they had made any discoveries.

More importantly, do they have any thoughts about the unusual situation in Sui Village?

Wan Qiji was the first to shake his head. The riverbed he had split open was ordinary, as everyone could see.

Qin Xi also shook her head, but she looked at the village chief in front of her and lowered her voice: "The demon-detecting artifact is not reacting, and there is no evil aura in the river."

Pei Xiang'an's expression became more serious. If these strange phenomena could be caused without any evil spirits, then the unknown is the most dangerous.

The three looked serious, while Song Tingwan smiled and softly recounted what she had found out.

"There is indeed no evil aura, but the river contains a mixture of the aura of countless spiritual plants."

"Spiritual plants?"

Having refined pills on Fuqu Peak for several months, Pei Xiang'an pondered for a moment, "Is it the spiritual energy that Elder Pei extracted from the spiritual plants and then fused together?"

He frowned after speaking, recalling the river water he had smelled and examined with his spiritual energy, and felt somewhat puzzled.

“But I just checked and didn’t sense any of what you’re talking about.”

He was, after all, a member of Class C. Although he was always one of the last few to finish with help, he could still tell the difference between the spiritual plants he came into contact with on a daily basis.

Song Tingwan nodded, "It comes from a spiritual plant, but..."

She pursed her lips with a complicated expression, and the others held their breath. She said, "All things originate from the Five Elements. The Five Elements Qi contained in spiritual plants manifests as pale green. If you sink your divine sense to the bottom of the river and look carefully, you can see the pale green Five Elements Qi."

Drawing Qi into the body involves drawing in the luminous white spiritual energy formed by the convergence of the five elements. Divine sense can replace the eyes in perceiving everything, but those with weak divine sense can only see a blurry scene, while those with strong divine sense can see so clearly that even the wind has nowhere to hide.

When refining pills, most of the Class C disciples would spread their divine sense and condense it to peel away the white from the small green light cluster. In Song Tingwan's perception, the veins of the spiritual plant were all clearly visible.

"Miss Song's spiritual sense is so powerful." Pei Xiang'an suddenly smiled, seemingly inadvertently marveling.

Song Tingwan was not annoyed by his probing, "If you use your divine sense to investigate and concentrate carefully, you can also see the same result."

She only gave a brief description, carefully choosing her words; one can only praise her for being meticulous.

There is no evidence to prove whether it is powerful or not.

"In terms of the five elements, there are indeed strange things in the river, but they are not evil spirits and cannot be included in the group's score."

He exchanged glances with the three men, needing to discuss whether to continue the investigation.

.

Pei Xiang'an made an excuse and told the village chief that they had made a new discovery and needed to go back to the river to check it out again. He was worried that the river water would splash again like before, so he and the others could go by themselves.

The village chief seemed to sense something, and replied with a slightly disappointed hunchback, "Okay, okay." But as he watched the group leave, he felt uneasy. If even the disciples of the nearby Hehuan Sect were unwilling to get involved, would the disciples of a more powerful sect like the Wenjian Sect be willing to help them?

But those villagers who became strangely deformed after touching the river are still hiding in their houses. Who else but them can save them?

As Qin Xi left, she seemed to sense something and walked at the back of the group with Song Tingwan, quietly turning her head back.

The village chief remained standing silently, tears streaming down his face as he watched them leave.

Seeing her turn around, the village chief hurriedly wiped himself haphazardly, and forced a fawning smile onto his wrinkled old face.

She felt a tightness in her chest, smiled at the village chief, and jogged a few steps to catch up with her teammates.

Song Tingwan glanced at her sideways and gently took her hand.

She simply smiled gently at Qin Xi, and Qin Xi knew that she understood his soft heart.

The two exchanged a light laugh and then followed the three men ahead.

Upon arriving at the destination, Pei Xiang'an told Baili Xijiang about their findings. To everyone's surprise, Baili Xijiang exclaimed joyfully, "Master is indeed my master! I also saw the faint green Five Elements power at the bottom of the river!"

He is a dragon, a naturally powerful species, so it's not surprising that he could sense it.

The others were extremely surprised. They never expected that Baili Xijiang, who was so carefree, would have found the same thing as the meticulous Song Tingwan.

Qin Xi and Wan Qiji didn't think much of it, but Pei Xiang'an looked at the two of them suspiciously, wondering if they had agreed on the same story and that Baili Xijiang was covering up Song Tingwan's special condition.

"There are no evil spirits in the river, but rather spiritual plants with the power of the five elements that have appeared out of nowhere. This power cannot be counted in the annual exam score. Do you want to help them or leave?"

Pei Xiang'an put aside her complicated thoughts, summarized her thoughts, and asked everyone.

Qin Xi really wanted to help, but she pursed her lips and didn't speak immediately.

After all, this is a team.

Wanqiji looked around and then chose to remain silent.

Baili Xijiang, who is usually the most talkative, was not in a good state of mind and subconsciously looked at his master with a blank expression.

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Song Tingwan smiled and turned to continue walking towards the river.

"Since we share the same idea, let's help each other."

When Pei Xiang'an asked the question, she placed the word "help" before "leave," and unconsciously emphasized it in her tone.

Even Wanqiji was more composed than usual when facing the village chief, indicating that he had already taken a liking to the village.

As for Baili Xijiang, despite being the most powerful member of the Black Dragon Clan, after noticing Pei Xiang'an's signaling look, he was the first to step forward, abandoning his usual nonchalance and earnestly inquiring about more details of the river's anomaly.

Qin Xi goes without saying.

The group was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and followed Song Tingwan.

"Then let's search more carefully."

"Okay, I also want to know why this is happening."
