Chapter 11 The Grand Wedding
"Stable? Stable about what?"
Darima asked, looking completely bewildered.
Jialuo reached out and tapped her brother's arm, saying, "Fourth brother, now that Father, the regent, has passed away, the power of the Qing Dynasty should be returned to the Emperor."
"The emperor has naturally become the true master of the world, but in any transfer of power, is it ever easy?"
Darima frowned; he seemed to understand something, but he wasn't quite sure.
Seeing his expression, Jialuo explained it to him in detail.
After all, women on the grasslands have always been unrestrained, and the current Empress Dowager also participates in politics, so when Jialuo understands these things and says these things, Darima doesn't find it strange at all.
Jialu didn't actually talk for very long, after all, everything is about getting to know things little by little.
After all, Fourth Brother is only an eighteen or nineteen-year-old kid.
He'll gradually understand some things.
With a dry mouth, Jialuo pulled her fourth brother aside and whispered to him that she wanted to eat hot pot tonight.
This is the tuition he paid to himself.
…………
Dorgon led his ministers, dressed in white mourning clothes, to greet the coffin at the funeral of Emperor Shunzhi.
An imperial edict was issued posthumously honoring Dorgon as "Emperor Chengzong, who cultivated virtue, pursued great achievements, established merits, brought peace to the people, and governed with sincerity and righteousness."
Jialuo, now the "prospective" empress, was also dressed in white robes and serving Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang.
Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang was also dressed in light colors today, not in white mourning clothes, but like a white bud in early summer.
She rarely wore hairpins, and today she only had a single white jade hairpin on her hair.
"Aunt, don't worry too much."
Jialu helped her sit in the pavilion in the courtyard.
It was still early morning, and the rising sun, like a pale yellow dye cloth, was gradually painting the frosty sky.
Jialuo followed Xiaozhuang's gaze toward the direction from which the faint funeral music was coming from.
His gaze then swept over Empress Xiaozhuang's somewhat melancholy eyes.
“Aunt, you must trust the Emperor. He will surely be able to handle state affairs well. The Emperor is a divinely ordained dragon, and it is only natural that he can now completely control the world.”
Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang turned her head and her gaze fell on Jialuo's face.
The woman was dressed in white today, but the all-white attire could not diminish her delicate beauty and vitality.
Both were women of the Borjigit clan, and Jialuo bore a resemblance to her beautiful, charming, yet melancholic aunt.
Both of them possessed the beauty of a stunning pearl on the grasslands, and their brows carried the openness and freedom of the grasslands.
But she is thoughtful and has a gentle voice.
Huang Taiji was utterly captivated by his sister's beautiful face and her gentle, graceful nature.
It's like a piece of seemingly exquisite and hard jade, but inside it's filled with a soft pool of clear water.
Empress Xiaozhuang was never favored by Huang Taiji, and her aunt only had Huang Taiji's respect.
The aunt and niece had no children, so they welcomed Hailanzhu, her older sister.
She was initially very fond of Huang Taiji.
However, Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang never understood matters of the heart, and she was initially heartbroken as well.
Eventually, she gave up on this unattainable yet excruciating love.
When she first saw Jialuo, she thought that as Huang Taiji's son, he would be like his father.
He loved Jialuo just as much as his father loved Hailanzhu.
But to everyone's surprise, the way the two got along was so unexpected.
Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang sometimes thought that perhaps she would never be able to understand the thoughts of the men in the Aisin Gioro family throughout her life.
Just like Dorgon.
The mere thought of this name made Empress Xiaozhuang feel as if a sour, bitter sugar syrup had been forced into her heart.
At first, she felt a tightness in her chest, but gradually that sour feeling melted away and slowly filled her entire chest cavity.
It made her extremely uncomfortable.
Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang sighed softly, suppressing the discomfort in her heart.
She then reached out and touched the white jade hairpin in her hair, and asked Jialuo in a low voice, "Was breakfast good today?"
Just as Jialuo was about to speak, she suddenly noticed a figure in bright yellow standing quietly at the entrance of Cining Palace.
Jialuo quickly got up and walked to the side.
The boy stepped across the threshold.
Jialuo turned her head to look at Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang again, bowed to the two of them respectively, and quietly withdrew.
With a great mourning taking place in the palace, Jialuo dared not move around freely.
I sat quietly in the porch, watching the dust motes rise and fall in the beam of light.
"Bang!"
Suddenly, the sound of porcelain shattering came from the courtyard, startling Jialuo.
She suddenly stood up and subconsciously took two steps toward the window, but then abruptly stopped, staring at the tightly closed glass window, but could no longer hear any sound.
She sat back down, her gaze once again falling on the pillar of light.
He thought to himself that the women in the palace were all more pitiful than the last.
Now she too is becoming one of those pitiful people.
When Jialuo walked out the door again, there were only faint water stains on the ground, and the broken teacups had already been cleaned up.
Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang sat there, looking at her with gentle eyes, and said with a smile, "Is there anything you would like to eat for lunch today?"
This question hits the nail on the head, but it's unfortunately at an inopportune time.
Jialuo said softly, "I'm fine. Everything here is delicious, Aunt."
Empress Xiaozhuang nodded, and they chatted as usual about how to be a good empress.
………
Jialuo stayed at Cining Palace today, thinking she was well prepared, but that night she developed a high fever.
