Chapter 123 Delivering the Pot

When Jiang Bai recalled that day, he only remembered that everything became extremely chaotic after Zhao Yi said he wouldn't lend money.

The roar of Old Master Zhao and the cries of Old Lady Zhao mingled together, making people's ears hurt.

The second son's wife rushed over, pointing her finger at Jiang Bai's nose and cursing, "It must be you, you whore, who made my brother do this! I knew you weren't a good person!"

Her words were agreed upon by the whole family.

Old Mrs. Zhao cried and shouted, her hoarse voice filling the entire room: "I shouldn't have let you marry such a scoundrel!"

Old Master Zhao leaned on his cane fiercely, his eyes filled with hatred as he looked at Jiang Bai, as if he wanted to tear her to pieces.

He ordered his eldest son: "Divorce her."

Jiang Bai found it all ridiculous. It was clearly Zhao Yi's decision, yet they were placing all the blame on her.

It's true that people have the instinct to seek advantage and avoid harm, so they wanted to pick on her, the easy target. But how innocent she is to be subjected to such insults for no reason.

Jiang Bai's anger flared up. She gritted her teeth, unwilling to argue with these people in front of her. Just as she was about to leave, Zhao Yi suddenly grabbed her hand.

He stood shoulder to shoulder with Jiang Bai, facing the ugly faces of the Zhao family. When he saw the second daughter-in-law's fingernails about to poke Jiang Bai's face, he frowned and slapped her hand away.

The second son's wife was taken aback by Zhao Yi's actions. She was stunned for a moment, then looked down at her hand, which was now covered in red welts. She collapsed to the ground, yelling and screaming like a spoiled child, though there were cries but no tears.

Zhao Yi's deep voice cleaved through the absurd scene like an axe, saying, "It was all my decision, and it has nothing to do with Jiang Bai."

Jiang Bai tilted her head, looking at his resolute and cold expression, then at his smooth jawline, and pursed her lips, suppressing the joy in her heart.

Zhao Yi said, "Jiang Bai is the wife I chose. Your insults against her are insults against me."

Seeing that Zhao Yi seemed genuinely angry, Zhao Laosan quickly tried to smooth things over: "Father and Mother were just in a moment of anger and spoke without thinking. I apologize to Sister-in-law on their behalf. Let's all calm down and discuss this properly."

“I don’t think there’s any need for further discussion,” Zhao Yi said bluntly, glancing at the messy room and the stunned crowd. “You all need to calm down for a while.”

After saying that, without waiting for Zhao Laosan to say anything more, he pulled Jiang Bai away.

The two walked hand in hand for several dozen meters from the Zhao family's new house before Jiang Bai came to his senses and quietly sized up Zhao Yi.

Zhao Yi didn't let go of Jiang Bai's hand. Instead, he intertwined his fingers with Jiang Bai's and turned to look at him. His face was calm and composed, but the tips of his ears were bright red: "What's wrong?"

Jiang Bai shook his head, without letting go of his hand, and simply said, "It's nothing."

The two walked hand in hand for a while longer. Jiang Bai noticed that Zhao Yi's complexion had improved considerably, so he said, "How about I give you a gift?"

"What gift?" Zhao Yi was taken aback.

Jiang Bai took control this time, pulling Zhao Yi toward the Zhao family's old residence.

The two houses are not close to each other, one is at the northernmost point and the other at the southernmost point, but the village itself is not big, and it only takes about fifteen minutes to walk there.

Jiang Bai pulled him directly to the kitchen door before letting go and gesturing with his eyes: "Want to go in and take a look?"

Zhao Yi clenched his fist, but failed to catch Jiang Bai's escaping fingers. He felt a sense of loss for a moment, and then, after a few seconds of hesitation, he pushed open the door.

The entire kitchen was revealed to the two of them.

Jiang Bai is good at cooking, so Zhao Yi specially expanded the kitchen to be very large. He didn't know what kind of decorations Jiang Bai needed, so the kitchen, which was several dozen square meters, was now empty, with only a large stove in the southeast corner and a shiny iron pot on it.

Upon seeing the iron pot, Zhao Yi glanced at it and asked incredulously, "Where did this come from?"

"Do you like it?" Jiang Bai avoided answering the question and simply asked.

Zhao Yi quickened his pace, walked to the stove, stared at the iron pot for a long time, and couldn't bear to look away.

He asked, "Did you get this?"

“Hmm,” Jiang Bai smiled at Zhao Yi, “After hearing what you said yesterday, I had someone expedite my injection.”

She spoke casually, but in reality, when the two returned from the study and Jiang Bai asked his bodyguard to buy an iron pot, almost all the iron shops were closed.

When the guard knocked on the door, the shopkeepers refused when they heard the request to deliver the goods first thing the next morning.

It was the supplier of the teacups for the milk tea shop who heard the news, rented a place and tools at a blacksmith shop, and made one for Jiang Bai.

Of course, it's not cheap; it costs ten times as much as a regular pot!

However, seeing Zhao Yi's overjoyed face, Jiang Bai couldn't help but think that the money was well spent.

Jiang Bai stared at Zhao Yi's profile, wiped the sweat from his clothes, and couldn't help but say, "Zhao Yi, you have me, you have Ping An and Xiao Le. We are all your family."

Zhao Yi turned around, took a deep breath, hugged Jiang Bai tightly, and kissed the hair on the top of her head.

His first kiss with Jiang Bai was devoid of lust and passion; it was filled with gratitude and emotion.

Zhao Yi's love for Jiang Bai was like a volcano poised to erupt; seemingly calm on the surface, but deep within flowed thick magma, ready to burst forth at any moment.

The more time he spent with Jiang Bai, the more grateful he became. He was grateful to God for giving him such a perfect wife, grateful to himself for making the decision to marry her, and grateful that Jiang Bai would choose him.

Jiang Bai possesses a generous sense of responsibility and a delicate mind, shining like the sun on those around him.

For the first time, Zhao Yi felt his heart pounding, his blood boiling, roaring, and proclaiming his love for the woman before him.

He choked up slightly and said, "Thank you."

Jiang Bai laughed heartily: "We're all family, there's nothing to thank me for."

Zhao Yi shook his head: "You are not me, you wouldn't understand what this means to me."

His eyes were deep and unfathomable. Jiang Bai stared at him for a few seconds, her face turning slightly red.

She turned to the side, took a deep breath, and said, "I just did what I was supposed to do at the time, and it was also what I wanted to do. Zhao Yi, thank you for defending me in front of those people just now."

Zhao Yi couldn't help but say, "In the very beginning, the first thing you did when you saw me was to discuss divorce with me."

Jiang Bai couldn't help but smile as he recalled the times they spent together.

Zhao Yi asked, "And now? Do you still hold the same view?"

Jiang Bai recalled the events of the past year, squinted his eyes, tilted his head, and said, "Maybe not."

But before Zhao Yi could smile, she said seriously, "But I feel that my feelings for you are still lacking something."

She admired Zhao Yi and occasionally felt a spark of attraction, but it wasn't intense or lasting.

Zhao Yi patted her head: "It's okay, I'll wait for you."
