Chapter 13 Pretending to be a Mountain God

Er Laizi didn't believe a single word Li Chunhua said. How could he not know what kind of person his elder brother Diao Yi was?

However, his entire attention was drawn to the description of Jiang Bai by Li Chunhua.

Li Chunhua was indeed fortunate to marry Diao Yi; she truly knew all the words to attract thugs and hooligans. The moment she uttered the phrase "pretty young lady," Er Laizi's ears perked up.

He couldn't care less about taking advantage of Li Chunhua, this middle-aged woman; his mind was filled with Jiang Bai's image.

He took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and said to Diao Yi with righteous indignation, "Brother, don't worry, I will definitely teach Jiang Bai a lesson."

"Oh dear, this is not good," Li Chunhua hurriedly advised him, but she couldn't hide her smile. "She has two children at home. What if you just go into her house and the children find out and report you to the authorities?"

Li Chunhua's eyes darted around, and she added, "However, she doesn't take the children with her when she goes up the mountain to collect herbs; she often goes by herself. I'm warning you, you absolutely mustn't take advantage of her!"

Erlaizi beamed with joy upon hearing this: "Sister-in-law, don't worry. How could I bully a lonely young lady? Of course, I'll just teach her a little lesson. The main thing is to persuade her gently."

Li Chunhua raised an eyebrow and gave a disdainful snort.

The next morning, when Jiang Bai went into the mountains, he could vaguely sense that someone was following him.

She used the terrain to her advantage, turning left and right, and through the cover of bushes, she saw a sleazy-looking man walking behind her.

Jiang Bai had never spoken to him, but he knew that this was the despicable village rogue.

She wasn't naive enough to think that this person was just coincidentally following behind her. Recalling the people she had offended recently, she realized that there were only Diao Yi and Wang Xiufen. Wang Xiufen would never have a man defile her, so this person could only have been found by Diao Yi.

She was pretty close to the truth.

Jiang Bai has been coming to the back mountain almost every day recently, and she knows the terrain like the back of her hand. Taking advantage of the environment, she often disappears from Er Laizi's sight, and then reappears in front of him when he suspects that he has lost her.

Erlaizi followed behind Jiang Bai, initially imagining some idyllic scenes, but the more he followed, the more frightened he became.

This woman seemed to be able to fly and disappear, suddenly vanishing and reappearing. Despite being so thin, she moved incredibly fast, and he, a grown man, couldn't keep up with her.

The two gradually walked into the depths of the mountains. Erlaizi hesitated slightly, but looking at Jiang Bai's slender neck and graceful curves, he gritted his teeth and followed.

Jiang Bai took Er Laizi to the vicinity of a trap she had once discovered. The trap was a very deep cave, probably dug by hunters for hunting. It was very deep, estimated to be three or four meters deep. There were no tools inside, the soil was loose, and without help from others, climbing out would be extremely difficult.

Caught off guard, Erlaizi stepped inside.

Jiang Bai ignored the other party's howling and left to pick some fruit nearby. Only when her basket was full, with a fat rabbit at the bottom, did she return to check on Er Laizi's condition.

Erlaizi's voice was hoarse from shouting. He sat helplessly in the pit, thinking that he might die here, his body exposed in the wilderness, with no one to bury him. His voice was trembling with sobs.

The light overhead dimmed, and he looked up to see Jiang Bai's face. His usually beautiful face was backlit, making him appear exceptionally gloomy and expressionless, like a demon to him. He suddenly cried out in alarm.

Jiang Bai rolled his eyes helplessly: "What are you yelling about?" He startled her.

"Ghost, ghost!" Er Laizi shrank back.

This hole is so small, how much smaller can it shrink to?

Upon hearing his words, Jiang Bai's heart stirred, and he suddenly said, "I am not a ghost, I am actually the mountain god of this mountain."

Mountain God?

Erlaizi looked up at her.

Looking at it this way, Er Laizi did indeed feel that something was amiss. He had come over to freeload at Zhao Yi's wedding banquet when Zhao Yi had just gotten married; what did Jiang Bai look like back then?

It certainly wouldn't look as good as it does now.

Little did he know that this was the effect of drinking the elixir for a long time. If you don't believe me, take a closer look at Zhao Ping'an and Zhao Xile. Their skin is now as smooth as a peeled egg.

Erlaizi thought again, when he was following Jiang Bai just now, this person really seemed to be floating on clouds, sometimes appearing and sometimes disappearing.

Seeing Erlaizi standing there dumbfounded, Jiang Bai asked again, "You don't believe me?"

She reached out her hand and, under Er Laizi's gaze, released a wild fruit from her spatial storage.

When Erlaizi saw a wild fruit appear out of thin air in her hand, his mind went completely blank.

Jiang Bai put the wild fruit in his hand into his mouth and took a bite. His mouth was full of saliva. Then he took out another one from his spatial storage and threw it down: "I am the mountain god. Everything on this mountain obeys my command."

Erlaizi mechanically picked up the fruit and put it in his mouth, grimacing from the sourness.

Only then did he believe Jiang Bai's fabricated identity, and he immediately knelt down and kowtowed to admit his mistake.

Jiang Bai was afraid that if she rescued him, he would talk nonsense and cause her trouble, so she dropped another bombshell: "I know that you once imprisoned a lost woman from out of town on the mountain. She couldn't bear the humiliation and committed suicide. You buried her under a pine tree."

Erlaizi's whole body was trembling: "You... how did you know..."

He then realized that Jiang Bai was a mountain god and must know everything.

So he stopped asking questions and started kowtowing repeatedly on the ground, his forehead covered in blood: "I didn't mean to, I didn't want to kill her, and I didn't expect her to die from the accident..."

How did Jiang Bai find out? She has to thank the original plot of the book that she inherited.

While the original owner was having an affair with Diao Yi, one night, Diao Yi, covered in dirt, barged into the original owner's house. After the original owner repeatedly questioned him, Diao Yi finally admitted that his brother had accidentally killed a woman from out of town, and he had helped bury her.

After obtaining this plot information, Jiang Bai immediately and carefully observed Diao Yi's interpersonal relationships. In this village, the only person who had a good relationship with Diao Yi was Er Lai Zi.

So she told him the story, half guessing and half deceiving, and sure enough, Er Laizi admitted it.

Jiang Bai said, "That woman who died unjustly has actually been following you all along. She's the one who told me about this. You've committed too many sins in your life. If you don't resolve all of this now, you'll definitely go to the eighteenth level of hell after you die."

Erlaizi pressed his head tightly to the ground: "Please enlighten me, Mountain God."

“You must confess all the evil deeds you have committed to everyone. The more you confess, the more people will know, the heavier the punishment you will receive, and the more you will be eliminating the sins you committed in your past life,” Jiang Bai replied.

Before Erlaizi could react, she took out a rope, tied it to a nearby tree, threw the other end of the rope into the hole, and left without looking back.
