Chapter 141 Identity

"Do you know her?" Jiang Bai asked him tentatively.

Amu didn't say whether he knew her or not, he only asked, "Can you save her?"

Jiang Bai nodded. He didn't want to answer her, so he didn't ask. Then he took out the wound medicine and spiritual liquid he had brought and treated the injured woman's wounds.

Although she had many wounds, there was only one fatal one.

While Jiang Bai was tending to his wounds, Amu avoided eye contact and sat down at a table with his back to the two of them.

Because she had been fed the woman the spiritual liquid, she woke up not long afterward.

When she saw Jiang Bai, she first looked at her warily for a while, but then realized that it was Jiang Bai who had saved her, so she relaxed her guard and thanked her softly.

"Thank you so much for saving me, young lady. I will definitely repay your kindness in the future."

Jiang Bai smiled faintly: "We can talk about that after you've recovered. Why did those people come looking for you today? Would you mind telling me?"

If this person were a heinous murderer, she certainly couldn't let her live like this.

But seeing her grateful and polite demeanor, Jiang Bai couldn't quite connect her with a murderer.

After she asked the question, the woman trembled and then fell silent, seemingly not intending to answer Jiang Bai's question.

Seeing her like this, Jiang Bai's eyes darkened as he pondered how to ask her questions to elicit an answer.

Unexpectedly, Amu, who had been silent all along, spoke up at this moment: "Just say whatever you want, she's not a stranger."

The woman, who had been keeping her eyes down, suddenly sat up excitedly on the bed upon hearing Amu's voice.

The violent movement aggravated her wound, but she didn't care and looked directly at the person who spoke.

Ignoring Jiang Bai's attempts to stop her, she got out of bed, knelt before Amu, and bowed her head respectfully, saying, "Master, I have been looking for you for a long time. Please come back with me!"

Jiang Bai's hand, which was about to help her up, froze in mid-air. Master?

Upon hearing this, she turned her gaze from the woman to Amu, who not only knew the woman but was also her master.

Did he know why the woman was injured?

Amu sensed her gaze and knew she had misunderstood, so he immediately blurted out, "It's not what you think."

He gestured for the woman on the ground to get up and sit back on the bed before introducing her to Jiang Bai.

“Her name is Ayina, and she is my personal maid. I was unaware that she was here, and she was not acting on my orders. I can only assure you that she is not a bad person.”

He paused, then continued, "My true identity is a prince from the frontier. I'm sorry to have kept my true identity a secret from you."

After hearing his explanation, Jiang Bai's doubts lessened somewhat. He had never harmed her and had even helped her on several occasions. There must be a reason why he concealed his identity.

"It's okay, you have the right not to reveal your identity."

Seeing that the two had finished speaking, Ayina spoke again: "Master, the situation on the border has changed drastically. If you don't return soon, there will likely be chaos there. So Ayina begs you to come back with me."

After she finished speaking, she lowered her head and made a pleading gesture.

Amu's expression changed upon hearing what she said: "What happened there?"

Ayina reported truthfully: "Uda imprisoned the king and seized power for himself. The king's subordinates resisted him fiercely, but he killed them all. The remaining people fought each other for power, and the scene was chaotic. We had no choice but to come out and find you, our master, to go back."

“You will be our savior, only you can turn that hell into a human world and save all people from suffering.”

Amu knew Wuda's character; he was usually cunning and wicked, but this time he was incredibly audacious to imprison his father!

"I understand. I will return soon."

Jiang Bai learned of his decision, but unfortunately, he was busy with other matters and couldn't help him in any way.

"Then you must be careful when you go back. This person has committed many evil deeds, and his strength should not be underestimated."

Amu bowed his head apologetically again: "I'm afraid I can't accompany you to find Elder Fu this time. However, I can leave Ayina behind; she can also help you."

Jiang Bai hesitated for a moment, then declined, "She is your capable subordinate. How can you go back to that den of dragons and tigers without taking her with you? I don't have anything urgent here. I can manage on my own. You should take her back with you."

Amu shook his head: "I promised to go with you before, but now I've gone back on my word. You've already been poisoned, so you need someone to take care of you. Ayina is injured this time and it's not convenient for her to travel with me. It's better for her to stay and take care of you. You don't need to refuse."

Jiang Bai reluctantly agreed; she couldn't force Ayina, an injured woman, to travel day and night with Amu.

"Alright then, take care on your journey."

"Yes, you should be careful too."

That night, Amu left his room to Ayina and disappeared.

Ayina told Jiang Bai that the Southern Dynasty had their spies, and Amu needed to first understand the situation within the border region before he could devise a plan; he couldn't rush back.

Jiang Bai knew that he had left, so he didn't ask any further questions.

Thanks to the spiritual liquid, Ayina was able to get out of bed and walk after a day's rest, and her complexion had mostly returned to normal. Only then did Jiang Bai take her out.

The two disguised themselves and wandered the streets for a while before finding someone to ask for information.

This person wasn't as wary of the two as the previous one, but their words were still somewhat ambiguous.

He bowed towards the distance before saying, "Old Master Fu is a deity who protects this place. We dare not reveal the whereabouts of the deity so casually; it would be a sin."

Jiang Bai raised an eyebrow, reached into his pocket, took out a silver ingot, and placed it in front of the man: "Tell me, and this silver ingot is yours."

She had been turned away when she asked around last time, so she naturally realized that Old Fu's identity was extraordinary and not something that could be easily found out by just anyone. Therefore, she searched the streets for a while before finally finding him.

People who are greedy for money are naturally easier to control than others.

The man's eyes widened when he saw the gleaming silver. He reached out to take it, but Jiang Bai didn't dodge and let him take it.

"Master Fu is a deity; he wouldn't live in this bustling city. He naturally lives deep in the mountains, where mortals rarely see him."

The man, having received the silver, didn't mince words and immediately revealed the location of Master Fu, even specifying which mountain it was.

Ayina flew into a rage upon hearing this. She swiftly drew her knife and held it to the man's neck: "Nonsense! There are no gods in this world! You're really trying to fool us into going up the mountain. You took the money and won't tell the truth! You're asking for death!"

She thought his nonsense earlier was just because Jiang Bai hadn't paid her. Now that he'd received the money, how could he still try to fool her?

Jiang Bai reached out to stop her. She had her own reasons; what this person said might not be a lie.
