Chapter 35 The Road Went Astray

Feng was younger than Qiao. He was forty years old and, after losing his wife in middle age, married a woman eight years younger than him.

My wife is beautiful. Although she's a bit feisty, she's genuinely good to him.

Feng had a secret he couldn't tell anyone. After turning thirty, he, like Qiao, began to feel his body was losing its strength, and this weakness was related to childbirth.

In modern terms, he was impotent.

This is a pain that no man can talk about. Every time he tries to be more capable, he just can't.

His wife is still young, in the prime of her life, and her repeated disappointments only made him feel more embarrassed.

Just when he was desperate and had nowhere to turn for medical help, he happened to eat at Anle Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant.

That evening, he suddenly got his period. This time, both the quality and duration were good, reaching his average level. His wife's eyes widened in surprise, and she asked, "Did you take your medication?"

“I’d eat a fart,” Feng Dangjia couldn’t help but retort.

Silly wife, don't you think about it? If medication were effective, would I still be depressed?

It's fortunate that you don't manage the accounts, otherwise, if you saw me sending money to quack doctors to buy medicine, you would either kill me or castrate me to completely extinguish my hopes.

Wait, speaking of taking medicine...

Feng, the head of the household, suddenly remembered Anle Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant and was stunned.

He said uncertainly, "I did eat a medicinal meal today."

Madam Feng, still flushed with desire, glanced at him upon hearing this, her tone unusually sweet and coquettish: "You've been eating good food behind my back again."

Feng, the head of the household, put his arm around his wife, stroked her back, and kissed her cheek: "I'll take you out to eat the day after tomorrow." He wanted to see if it was just a coincidence or if Jiang Bai really had that much skill.

Madam Feng pouted: "Why not tomorrow?"

“I want to too,” said Feng Dangjia innocently. “They require reservations.” As he spoke, he explained the meaning of the word “reservation” that he had heard earlier to his wife.

"Alright then," Mrs. Feng said with a hint of satisfaction. After thinking for a while, she couldn't help but add, "If it really works, then you should make an appointment every day."

"Fine, fine, fine." Boss Feng smiled wryly: You're trying to squeeze me dry.

-

When Qiao Dangjia heard Feng Dangjia recount this experience, he was taken aback: "So, what those people were muttering about but didn't say was—this medicinal cuisine is an aphrodisiac?"

Now that Boss Feng had recovered, he was no longer afraid to admit that he hadn't done well before, and immediately nodded while suppressing a laugh.

Boss Qiao was speechless for a moment.

No wonder those businessmen flocked to Anle Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant; it wasn't because of the proprietress's beauty, nor because of the delicious food, but because of this!

It's understandable, really. Men's physical functions start to decline when they reach their thirties or forties, especially those who are in business. They eat too much rich food and indulge in women, so their bodies are already depleted.

They were embarrassed to tell outsiders, but they all knew perfectly well why they had come.

Jiang Bai only found out why they had come after his business had been doing well for a while.

She was even more speechless than Boss Qiao. It was true that the spiritual liquid could strengthen the body and improve physical fitness, including that aspect. But how come it was famous for this embarrassing aspect when it had so many functions?

Isn't this what they call going astray on the road?

The conversation between Boss Qiao and Boss Feng continued over here.

"Didn't your wife come with you?" asked Master Qiao.

Feng shook his head: "Ever since she tried this medicinal cuisine, she said it was especially delicious and refused to come with me, saying she wanted to recommend it to her girlfriends." So the couple made separate reservations and came separately.

After saying that, he thought for a moment and added, "Has your wife not eaten yet? I'll have my wife call her to eat with us."

Boss Qiao did not refuse.

His wife isn't someone who craves good food, but expanding her social circle is something she'd definitely consider.

Upon seeing this, Master Feng immediately instructed his servant to inform Madam Feng upon returning home.

The two ladies ate there several times afterward, and then something happened that made Anle Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant famous.

—The two ladies found out they were pregnant one after the other.

It's not surprising that Madam Feng is pregnant. She's young and healthy; it's the problem on the Feng family's side that's preventing her from conceiving for so long.

However, Feng's deceased ex-wife gave birth to a son who is now a teenager and has started looking for a wife, so Feng is not in a hurry.

Surprisingly, this was Mrs. Joe's side.

Madam Qiao is two or three years younger than Master Qiao. She just turned fifty this year. She injured her health when she was young and consulted countless doctors, all of whom said that she had a cold uterus and that it would be difficult for her to have children.

Mrs. Qiao continued to drink various tonics until she was forty years old, at which point the couple gave them up.

Mr. Qiao never remarried or took a concubine. The two had no children and supported each other until they grew old. In the end, Mrs. Qiao was found to be pregnant.

Even more bewildered than his wife, Mr. Qiao asked the doctor three times, "She vomits everything she eats, is often unwell, and her temper has worsened. Is she not sick, but pregnant?"

The doctor was also shocked. This was the oldest case of twins he had ever seen. He took her pulse for a quarter of an hour, so long that Madam Qiao's eyes were filled with tears and she almost began to say her last words before slowly nodding and confirming, "She is pregnant."

Mr. Qiao was at a loss and paced around the room for a long time before asking the doctor, "But my wife was always diagnosed with uterine cold when she was young."

The doctor stroked his beard: "The lady is in very good health now." Otherwise, the child wouldn't have been born.

Mrs. Qiao touched her belly, hesitant to apply too much pressure, and asked cautiously, "I've been taking medicinal diets for a while now. Could this be the reason my health has improved?"

The doctor replied seriously, "I can't be sure, but it's very possible. Actually, the general function of medicinal diet is to nourish, which may be less effective than medicine, but slow nourishment may change one's constitution."

"It's also possible that they had a bad mindset before, were too anxious to have a child, and that's why the baby didn't come. Now that they've relaxed, the baby is coming," the doctor said. He knows several couples who couldn't conceive because of their mindset.

Qiao immediately ruled out the possibility of mindset, saying that relaxation would bring it on, but he had been relaxing for ten years, so how could he suddenly get it after taking the medicinal diet?

There's no such thing as a coincidence in the world. After eating the medicinal food, he was able to fall asleep. Old Feng's masculine vigor was restored, and both of their wives became pregnant. They said it had nothing to do with the medicinal food. Would anyone believe that?

Jiang Bai noticed that recently, many wealthy ladies had suddenly appeared among the customers who came to eat medicinal cuisine. They didn't say why they came, but just smiled and ordered a large table of food.

She lamented that things were going further and further astray, and if things continued like this, Anle Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant might as well change its name to Anle Infertility Hospital.
