Jiang Bai then walked out gracefully. Seeing the noisy scene in front of him, he feigned surprise and asked, "What's going on?"
Wang Xiufen tried to rush inside, but was stopped by several employees. She pointed at the little girl and angrily shouted, "This person dares to hit your mother, Jiang Bai, tell her to pack her things and get out!"
"You hit her?" Jiang Bai turned his head and asked.
The little girl shook her head.
She was initially angry that Wang Xiufen was causing trouble and wanted to kick her out, but when she realized that she had still alarmed Wang Xiufen, she felt a little uneasy.
Jiang Bai smiled and said, "The little girl is ignorant and must have offended you with her words, but how old is she? She's a few years younger than me. Mother, why are you arguing with her?"
A simple "I was ignorant" completely erases all the reasons; this is what it means to treat things lightly.
The little girl secretly breathed a sigh of relief and watched Jiang Bai walk out.
Jiang Bai walked to the door, told the workers to go back to work, and asked Wang Xiufen in a soft voice, "Why are you back again?"
Wang Xiufen pointed at Tian Rou and said, "You let her go home?"
“Yes.” Jiang Bai smiled.
"Will Jiang Cheng come to help tomorrow?" Wang Xiufen pressed.
Jiang Bai's eyes widened immediately, and he asked innocently, "What does this have to do with Jiangcheng?"
"This has nothing to do with Jiangcheng!" Wang Xiufen clutched her chest, her heart pounding with anger. She raised her voice and shouted, "You drove his wife away, are you leaving him to starve?"
“It wasn’t me who drove her away, wasn’t it your idea, Mother?” Jiang Bai shrugged.
Wang Xiufen said, "I want her to leave, but Jiang Cheng is coming to take her place. I want Jiang Cheng to be the store manager!"
“That’s impossible,” Jiang Bai refused decisively.
She explained in a good-natured manner, "Mom, you don't know how high the costs and how much pressure I'm under. If Jiang Cheng came to be the store manager, the milk tea shop would go bankrupt in less than a month. He wouldn't even be able to afford to pay back the customers' membership cards."
Wang Xiufen was confused by the string of words Jiang Bai was spouting. All she knew was that Jiang Bai disagreed with Jiang Cheng becoming the store manager, which immediately enraged her.
Jiang Bai tried to reason with her: "Mom, if it were any small shop, I could easily support Jiang Cheng, who's just a freeloader. But not a milk tea shop. The whole county is waiting to drink milk tea, and I have an obligation to ensure the quality of our service."
The people in line nearby listened to their conversation and whispered amongst themselves.
"What's going on with Boss Jiang? When did he get a younger brother?"
“I’m from the same village as her family. I know that her brother is a good-for-nothing and a gambling addict. Luckily, he’s good-looking and married into another family. Jiang Bai gave his mother several hundred taels of silver, but it still wasn’t enough to fill the hole, so he had no choice but to sever ties.”
But this scene doesn't look like a breakup at all! Wang Xiufen is even throwing a tantrum, demanding that Jiang Cheng take over the milk tea shop!
Upon hearing that the son was a gambler, everyone exchanged glances: "If he's a gambler, that won't do..."

Even though she only helped out for a few days, she learned just how good Jiang Bai's milk tea shop was. She roughly estimated the profits, and the figure left her speechless.
She couldn't help but say, "Mother, do you know that I begged my sister for this job? With your outburst, all my efforts have been wasted."
Wang Xiufen shifted uncomfortably: "Why don't you go and beg her again? She's your sister, she'll always be soft-hearted towards you."
Tian Rou shook her head: "She won't."
“It was made clear before that I was on probation and could leave at any time if I didn’t do well. I knew then that if my sister wasn’t so selfless, she wouldn’t have been able to develop the milk tea shop so well.”
Tian Rou sighed and continued, "So it's not that she begged me for help, it's that I begged her. So if my family causes trouble, she won't care who's right or wrong. Instead, she'll think that I'm the one who's bringing trouble. She'll make sure the trouble stays away from her shop and that you and I both leave. She's capable of doing that."
If Tian Rou lived in the 21st century, she would understand that Jiang Bai's thinking is typical of a ruthless capitalist.
Wang Xiufen hesitated, "She wouldn't be so heartless, would she..."
"If she weren't so heartless, she wouldn't have broken off relations with you," Tian Rou sneered.
Wang Xiufen was at a loss: "What should we do?"
She didn't cause trouble in the past to ruin her son and daughter-in-law's lives; she did it to gain an even greater advantage!
How did things suddenly come to this?
Jiang Bai sighed: "Mother, I've said it before, her business is so big now, she can manipulate us like it's nothing.
